...national parks. At least, that's what the bold "head"line says at nydailynews.com: Marijuana growers killing national forests and parks, U.S. Forest Service says "The outlaw reefer growers seek out national parkland for their hidden weed farms because the forests are incredibly vast, security is incredibly light and conditions are ripe for growing, the website Live Science reported." “The most disgusting aspect of it is the pollution,” (a researcher) said. “They just pour chemicals like nobody’s business ... and they get washed into streams that flow through national parks.” Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/marijuana-growers-killing-national-for…

For some time now this site has allowed us to bitch about things that bother us elsewhere on the internet, but bitching can only get you so far. We have heard the criticism that some of us only drop in now and then, when it suits our purposes. And it's true, we often come and go. One criticism of MER is that threads die too soon, and that it is hard to get and keep a conversation going. So, my August Challenge is for a group to commit to sticking with the site all through August, trying to keep those conversations going, but of course also to start some. You may not be able to stop in everyday, but the commitment will be to the best you can to do that, and don't just dr…

Sorry if Lucky has too many posts today, but this one is too fun not to... Now, I will combine two posts in one. If you didn't get a laugh from that video, this one is quite fun too. Speedo Santas in Boston. Look carefully and you will see some very hot guys: (My thanks to my source, towleroad.com) And this is getting to be like the Lucky reader with a third post: Take a look at 37 photos of semi-naked Santas in San Francisco. Bet there's a gay one! SF Santas

A "bicurious" member of Cam4 from the Netherlands is raising tempers at this moment as he wears a T-shirt with a large Nazi symbol. He is obviously there for the shirt more than for the sex as he is wearing a pair of well-worn grey briefs. Given that he is number 4 on the male chart, comments are limited to premium members, but many are letting him know their distaste for his shirt. Other racists then reply with their own hate comments. The N-word is common to some of them, at least when I was reading it. So far, the Nazi has been on for 155 minutes. I have often wondered what moderation there is on Cam4. Underage boys tend to get the hook pretty quickly, so there is so…

Although my computer problems yesterday seemed to have righted themselves, later in the evening the bf had a crash so severe that I had seen nothing like it before. His whole hard drive appears to have been wiped out. The antivirus scan said there was a trojan horse, but no ideas were provided on how to remove it. A screen popped up saying that he needed to do a system scan, which, when done, claimed that it fixed several items but not others. Then it wanted $75 for a program to fix the problems. That's when I got suspicious. And, it appears, rightly so. Today's LA Times has an article on malware that did this very thing: Computer virus warning -- The Federal Trade Com…

Going to Brazil? Good for you. The dollar has risen 9.4% this year against the real, and is currently at its highest exchange in 2011, 1.817 reais to the dollar. Small comfort for those of us who first encountered the real when it was over 3 to the dollar, but you take what you can get. Going to Prague to met Tomcal at the boy bar Escape? The dollar is up 1.7% on the Koruna, which means you get almost 19 of them for your buck. Thailand fans can now escape the flooding and get more baht for their bills. The dollar there is up 4.9%, giving almost 30.9 baht per dollar. I have seen it as low as 22, so this is good. Well, inflation probably accounts for something here too. …

No. no. No names please. We are lucky that we don't have the same troll issues other forums have. MER is a very peaceful and happy place for those that love male escorts and the male escorts themselves. But, in case one ever appears, this is what a forum troll looks like.

America's Best Cities For Winter Travel By Katrina Brown Hunt | Travel Leisure – Wed, Dec 7, 2011 8:09 PM EST This winter’s forecast: plenty of snow, and even more travelers fleeing it. That’s the message, at least, in this year’s America’s Favorite Cities survey of Travel & Leisure readers. Last year, Salt Lake City took the gold medal in the winter category, but this year, the snowy Utah city—along with Denver—skidded down the mountain of readers’ affections, while warmer cities took their places, literally, in the sun. Compounding the situation, The Farmers’ Almanac is predicting another big-snow winter for parts of the U.S., especially in the Northeas…

The Most Dangerous Cities in the World Posted: December 9, 2011 at 6:41 am ... 10. Conakry, Guinea Republic > GDP per capita: $448.48 (14th lowest) > Adult literacy rate: 29.5% > Adult mortality rate per 1,000: 331 > Population living on < $1 per day: 69.8% Conakry, a peninsula located on the western coast of Guinea, holds roughly a fifth of the entire nation’s population. Over the past two decades, significant growth in the city has led to overwhelming population density and infrastructure problems. Elections in 2010 led to protests and violent clashes between Guinea’s citizens and the military. According to the U.S. Department of State, the worst …

In an article on the trial of an American Airlines luggage handler for drug smuggling, it is mentioned that 80% of the airline's luggage handlers steal from luggage in what is called a "cesspool of corruption." One luggage handler in particular led a drug smuggling ring, making millions of dollars. Victor Bourne, apparently on his own initiative, arranged for cocaine to be smuggled into planes by similarly corrupt baggage handlers in Barbados. "...his associates in the enterprise were other airline employees: baggage handlers and crew chiefs who delivered contraband while they delivered luggage to the baggage-claim area," the NY Times reports. American Airlines is the l…

I am currently reading Catherine the Great: Portrait of a Woman by Robert Massie. Robert Massie is famous for his books on Peter the Great and the Romanovs. Catherine's describes her first love as "handsome as the dawn" and the picture below is in the book. Do you guys agree? I mean I think he is cute and indeed handsome but I don't think he's handsome as dawn? Massie wrote in his book that "an opinion not wholly confirmed by this portrait." Is Massie being unfair? The book is very fun but it's another example of a mega publisher spitting a book out by exploiting a famous author. I can understand their need to make money but how long can they do the same thing? A curious…

Remember how a thread here never took off unless it was about the other site? That finally ended, and we learned how to enjoy ourselves on our own, and now you hardly ever hear of the other site. But the tide has turned, if just a bit. Now they talk about us as the fun, friendly alternative. One poster said recently: "I recently visited the competing forum (MER) and found out that it has become much more active since my last visit there six months ago. Could it be that people are abandoning daddy's ..." (The discussion centers around an unpleasant poster, something foreign to our ears here.) Well, of course we are more active, and in some cases, passive. So all of thos…
