  1. This thread is rather appropriate for me as I am due in Thailand in 2 weeks time to start my trip initially in Pattaya and see how things develop. During my last 3 trips I have stayed at the Zing and can echo Olddaddys endorsement, that it was, pre-Covid, very good value and gay friendly. It has a reasonable sized pool which is well maintained. In the Complex I have also stayed at the Agate, which was more expensive but still good value. Then there was the Poseidon which I think is 100% gay with no female staff. It’s restaurent has a very good reputation. It had a rather unique indoor pool in which you swim against the pumped current which very much amused my boyfriends.

Before I moved to the Complex I very much favoured the Ambiance in BT, which as we all know, is a Gay Pattaya icon, with its confusing maze of corridors in which it’s easy to get lost. If a boy or friend comes to see you there it’s better to meet them at reception, otherwise they could get lost without trace. The only other hotel worth mentioning is the Sansuck Guest House, which like the Baan Souy, is remote from the action, but with a motor bike it could suit some, being part of the sauna complex.

As to direct booking against the agencies I was once told by a hotel that you get a better room with direct, but I don’t think this applies generally.

I am pleased for you. And for myself....I'm computer-illiterate and was anxious as to what I| could if I had problems. My flight and hotel are booked for July.

Some will find my trepidation funny or, even worse, pitiful but it's very real. I curse the Thai junta for putting me through this, not just the expense- that I can tolerate- but I have supported the economic welfare of many places ( not to mention young men) in Thailand, from Krabi to Chiang Rai for decades.

They could at least have made an exception for  someone with my disability!

Well Done - you like me, have overcome our inadequacies IT wise and are poised to launch ourselves onto the mercies of Thai immigration (I’ve just booked my flight 20 June on Qatar - despite reading negative comments by other travellers). Things will be different I’m sure when I confront the reality of the places I used to love pre Covid Bkk, Pattaya, Hua Hin etc etc. I just hope I get there without new problems emerging. It should be quieter once there without Russians and Chinese,

  3. Thanks Tmax
Yes I’ve found the link and completed the process and I now have the registration. Really it was very easy as I do have a basic knowledge of IT but I imagine many without this would find tasks like “finding the link” , “upload your vaccination certificates”,  “print out the QR code” difficult or impossible. I used an iPad knowing that using my iPhone for this job would be tricky. AlSo I was lured into a scam website at the top of the Google list which wasted a lot of time.

Thailand seems to be more difficult than most countries for tourism with the requirement for this “Thai Pass” with the result that its income from this source is a fraction of that pre-Covid . Maybe it will shortly be abolished.

  4. Thanks Vinapu and Londoner. I’ve found what’s wrong. The site I accessed “enter.thaipass.com” is illegitimate. It asks the applicant to send $79 usd - which I haven’t done. I’m notifying action fraud (U.K.).

Im looking for the right link now

  5. Been trying to get my Thai Pass. Assembled all documents, vaccination, insurance. Hit problem with uploading my passport : I’ve tried copying it, scanning it a number of times . It keeps being rejected whereas the other documents were ok. Don’t know what I can do. Any ideas ?

  6. Occasionally it’s difficult to get the boy to leave. I don’t like getting up much later than 9am, because I normally have a nap in the late afternoon. 9am is far too early for most boys and an hour or two of sleep or tv in a comfortable hotel room, possibly with room service, is welcome for them rather than returning to a hot noisy one shared with others. On the other hand I’ve had them wake me up very early pre-dawn asking for their full long time tip, which results in friction when I take a discount.

  7. I’ve watched several threads on YouTube in which the producers go about the tourist areas of Pattaya making videos whilst walking, on motor bikes and even on a pedal bike. They try to film as many attractive girls as possible who are not wearing much, but are constrained by YouTube censorship. The commentaries express hope for more “opening up” and for more tourists to arrive, and one talked about a landmark being when girlie gogos are allowed topless dancing. I suppose that’s pretty much what us gays are hoping for ! - the day when the boys are on stage in briefs, g-strings etc and are available for offs. Maybe other boy bars will open following Winner’s example.

  8. Good but I will really applaud when gay gogos open with boys dancing in their whities on the inside stages, wanting to be called down to join customers for a possible off.

  9. I’ve used the airport bus quite a few times, but not on cost grounds rather for safety. I find the regular taxi journey a bit scary with the drivers following the vehicle in front too closely and making erratic lane changes. The large buses go at a much steadier speed and arrive only maybe 20 minutes slower at Jomtien. Everyone should be aware of the appalling death toll on Thailands roads. Also saving about 1750 baht gives me a good feeling even though it is eliminated very quickly as soon as I get into a boy bar.

as has been mentioned the Jomtien terminus is only a short walk from the Complex where many of us stay. Even if your hotel is in South Pattaya (Boystown) staying on the bus to Jomtien is a good tactic and using the steady stream of baht buses rather than the rip off merchants who wait at the Sukhumvit stops.

  10. Yes they were asking for trouble, but it seems strange that he was not immediately aware that his necklace had been removed. Maybe this was an insurance scam.

i have a Collection of gold jewellery which stays back home in a hidden safe . I’ve also a few convincing gold items which I do take to Pattaya which I purchased some years ago in Benidorm. Maybe even wearing those is not a good idea as the necklace could be wrenched off from a motorbike causing me some injury.

  11. Pre Covid I visited Nice Boys quite a few times over the years - the best fun nights were in company with one or more friends . I did not off from there much - The boys at Winner were more of a draw for me, but I liked the raw porn on view (especially Isaan erect cocks) after a few drinks, but the occasional chuck wow contests were a bit too far.

  12. I suppose in these post Covid times we have to accept the presence of females in “our” bars and accept that their money allows them to open. When I first visited Pattaya in 2002 you never saw ladies on the gay beach but in later years it became more common to see a small number joining us gays and our Asian boyfriends there.

  13. During my numerous trips to Thailand (mainly BKK and Pattaya) as a gay sex tourist I have never had any significant problems bringing  boys back to my room. Mostly I was staying in 3* type hotels known to be favoured by gay guests although occasionally  it was in top end ones such as the Banyan Tree in Bkk. If in doubt it would be wise to enquire about their policy at the time of reservation and book for 2 persons. Also when engaging boys online I always take them through reception rather than have them make their own way to my room, so as to resolve any possible problems with ID cards or their appearance.

  14. Pleased that the Complex Bars are adopting a “flexible” policy towards closing time. Pre-Covid I stayed in hotels there and usually started my evening in one of the bars prior to taking a baht bus to visit the Boystown or Sunee gogos in a search for a bed companion. Around midnight usually with boy I would return by motorbike to finish with a nightcap taking in the vibrant atmosphere.

  15. Yes I have had boys voice the “vacation proof” a good number of times since my first visit to Thailand more than 20 years ago, very often when I was reluctant to fund an excessive demand for cash or presents. Although I would say that the affluence gap between “the West” and SE Asia has closed somewhat over those years, manifesting itself in a much reduced supply of young Thai recruits from Isaan to the sex industry in the tourist resorts.

  16. When in Pattaya I used to visit the Coco gym which is situated on Beach Road. It’s large and well equipped and pre Covid it was busy with tourists, expats and local Thais. The dress code was not at all orientated towards Lycra, although when I went there, working out was my objective not hooking up with other guys. I never took boyfriends to gyms, but Occasionally I bought them speedos when I thought they would look good in them on the beach.
