I don’t disagree Olddaddy . I’ve never been to the Philippines but have heard that the boys there are into us older daddy’s . A trip there is on my “to do” list.
ive played the daddy several times when I visitedPats for longer periods ( + 1 month). Then I tended to retain boys for a period after the initial off, if I got on ok with them and they could communicate. Even visiting their Isaan homes in two cases. Mostly rewarding experiences both in and out of bed, but it could be a bit expensive.

Blasting along Thapraya Road at 80 kph 3 up (me, driver, twink) in the late night semi darkness, the last thing on my mind was groping. I always had a lot of respect for the motor bike taxi drivers and their skills. Having said that I was always relieved when we were deposited at the entrance to the,Complex. Yes I’ve got to a stage in life where I’m doing a lot more reminiscing. Discovered Sunee during my second trip to Pats in 2002. Loads of hot twinks to be found there in the bars and gogos. Took full advantage cos I was horny as hell in those days (top of course). Now i take it more easy with a variety of boys and I am 90% bottom.

During my recent trips I’ve always checked out the boy scene at Winner and I usually find what I go looking for ie twinks. When Staying in the Complex getting there is not a problem - just take a baht bus stopping at Soi VC. For the return having offed I have taken one motor bike taxi 3 up with myself in the middle being able to use the foot rests. The journey seemed like no time at all, blasting through the night air along Thrapraya Road. It has crossed my mind that it would not be appropriate for me to meet my end that way.
I have stayed in Sunee but that was more than 15 years ago when the place was in its prime. I remember the Don Plaza (or elephant) which looked smart from the outside but rooms were accessed up a narrow steep stair case and very noisy. Late night The guy on reception was usually asleep or drunk and unwilling to take Id . I also stayed a couple of times at the Colonial Bar and Guest House, which was good for meeting other farang guests, who would call-up boys if you were without. During one stay I had several short times with the boy cashier, when the bar was quiet.

Yes I like it when the boy kisses me without being prompted by myself. I’ve often kissed and cuddled my boyfriends in gay localities such as the gay beach but would not do this for example around the hotel pool in front of str couples or families, for fear of causing embarrassment . Things have changed over the last 20 when I first discovered Thailand when I was nervous about say checking into a hotel not known to be gay welcoming with the intention of having “guests”.

Yes I see your point and agree with it. Obviously if he refuses to let you kiss him after you buy him a drink, it’s not likely to be a good experience after you off him and you have him in your bed. Not sure if that applies if he refuses your tongue in his mouth or down his throat.

When sat with a boy in a bar or gogo I have never asked permission before kissing them, but I would not persist if there was any negative reaction on their part. In fact I’ve only really done it when I’ve already offed the boy or had thoughts about offing. Again I would only get my tongue involved when I judge he’s ok with that. As well as in the gogos it’s common to see the Complex bar boys being kissed later in the evening when the drinks have been flowing.

Yes I remember those gay booklets especially in the early 2000’s when I first discovered Pattaya. They were often to found on tables of the Complex bars. If I recall correctly there was a pile of them on a table at the gay Sansuck Sauna as you emerged from the changing area into the pool surround. I don’t think I did much reading there I much preferred to lay by the pool or go into the dark maze in search of action.

It seems to me that extreme noise is in the dna of Thais. I’ve been to Isaan several times with boys to their home villages and experienced local calibrations like weddings and always large speakers appear and the music blasts out. I suppose before electricity was available drums were used to produce the noise they love which together with moonshine whisky would lead to a party in contrast to their hard working lives in the rice fields.
I've stayed at most of the Complex hotels, particularly at the Zing where the clientele seems to vary from one stay to the next. At one time gays like me predominate, often sitting round the pool with boyfriends, and then on other days it’s crowded with families and str couples. The Poseidon seems to be the only 100% gay hotel where the pool is indoors with an artificial pumped flow of water. I’ve not experienced troubling noise whilst trying to sleep (alone or with a boy) in a Complex hotel room due to them being situated sufficient distance from the bars.

going back to airfares being a disincentive to travel to Thailand, I’ve being checking the prices for MAN-BKK-MAN in July which seem to be around £1000, which is 50% higher than rates in previous years. This increase is a factor for me as these days I am making 3 trips per year of 2 or 3 weeks duration, but it’s not an overwhelming one.
im hesitant to book because I’m unsure as to whether I will enjoy the experience as I did in years gone by, which was that of drinking cold beer with good company in the sunshine and having sex with handsome boys. I suppose it’s getting older that’s the problem or maybe the boys aren’t as good in bed as they used to be. I like the sound of the Philippines having plenty of tops - maybe I should go there.
I guess that there are a good number of older gay tourists having the same thoughts about the next holiday.

Whilst I am Pattaya based I often have a day in Bkk when my usual routine would be to have a morning cruise on the river followed by massage and sex in one of the parlours later on. I usually do some research online as to location and what is available, but it’s usually rather hit and miss as to the quality of the massage and then how enjoyable is the sex. I stayed in the hotel a couple of times pre-Covid for I think for 4/5 days each trip. It’s situated about 300m downhill in a side soi off Thrapraya Road which connects Pattaya and Jomtien. Transport is rather an issue but I had a rented motor scooter which overcame any difficulties. They had a Tuk Tuk which was sometimes available for a lift uphill to the main road. The distance to the Jomtien Complex is rather shorter than to Boyztown so I didn’t find it a problem to walk. At night it was sometimes difficult to stop a baht bus going to Pattaya on the main road as they were often full of passengers.
it’s a while ago but my memory has no recollection of anything negative about my rooms and for breakfast sitting by the pool was rather pleasant. In the evenings I remember the restaurent food being pretty good.
it is of course a gay hotel and I didn’t see any female guests. I usually had a boy with me overnight. I had to get one of the staff to explain on two occasions to boys from Grindr how to find the place. Guests of course get admission to the sauna and spa (including the dark maze) which opens about 4pm, but I was able to use the small pool with boyfriends during the day.

Very late evening in the vicinity of the Dongtan Gay beach - Jomtien. I’ve not tried it there for years.
Also in Pattaya Pratamack Park near the Big Buddha during the evening after the joggers have gone. Can’t vouch for it now. -

Yes Vessey I think you are right. The remaining gogos are now back to pre-Covid in as far as boy’s dress. They are now back to skimpy shorts or even jocks or g-strings so will feel the cold below say 25c. Better to run the ac to suit the boys, perhaps that way Winner will attract more to work there. The choice was limited when I visited a couple of months ago, but I accept things vary night to night and by the hour. The most attractive lads are sometimes offed before 10.00 pm.

The accounts of chuck-wow contests takes my memory back to my first visits to Sunee Plaza around year 2001. Marc - sorry that’s a rather clumsy sentence I included in my post.
To clarify :
1. I would say the number of sex workers (attractive or not) looking for business in Thai resorts has declined over the years due to better education and more job opportunities in manufacturing or tourism
2. has the attractiveness of Thai Guys declined ?. That’s an interesting question. As to their physical shape I would say probably yes. More consumption of Western food and less physical toil in the rice fields being responsible. As to their outlook on life, probably not. I still find them enjoyable to socialise with and their English language ability has on average improved over the years. Many boys with virtually zero English when commencing their careers in the sex industry make rapid progress and after six months are even able to conduct a conversation. Some ability in English is usually regarded as an asset by their farang customers, as few native English language speakers take the trouble to learn any Thai.

I’ve been visiting Thailand now for more than 20 years as a gay tourist and very much agree that its attractiveness for us has declined over those years. There are no statistics giving the numbers of gays and str but I’m sure the proportion of gays would be now a lot less than previously, which is reflected in the much reduced numbers of bars and gogos and the decline of the Pattaya gay beach. The scandal of under-age sex which surfaced in the years 2000 to 2005 was a major blow to Thai gay tourism and I think it still reverberates. The attractiveness of Thai boys and their availability has reduced considerably due to the availability of other economic options for them. I’ve never been to South America but that might change noting what Boy69 has just said. Before discovering LOS I spent my holidays in Spanish resorts like Playa del Ingles and Benidorm but the experience there was rather different with minimal commercial sex and I was a lot younger and considerably more attractive on the beaches there.

Alone in bed on the last night ?. That’s been my experience at the end of my trips since Covid. Thoughts of the long 24 hour journey back home and potential problems when I get there, crowd out those of boys and sex. It wasn’t like that years ago when I would occasionally be saying goodbye to a “boyfriend” I had acquired on one of the longer stays or more likely having a good final night with a hottie or maybe two.
