  1. I have 174 posts, need to get to 200 quickly
  2. I have told my partner many times about this, and it makes not the slightest difference to his eating habits which involves pla ra most days

When in BKK I do enjoy dinner at The Smoking Pug, it does however have one problem - we have to pass very close toTawan when walking from the BTS and I am always with my partner, which I guess is a good thing as we have a monogamous relationship and if I was alone I would be sorely tempted to see what all the fuss is about
  4. It may surprise you but yes i have, although with my partners approval I have had massages with HJ but never with what I would consider full sex. I found that the older I get (I'm almost 70) the easier it became to be monoganous
  5. My partner and I live in Thailand but we had a Civil Partnership in the UK The reason being to try to make it easier for him to access the spouse pension from my pensions when the day eventually comes and I am no more. I meet my guy over 8 years ago and we took it slowly, including us living together for 2 years in the UK so we could both assess what a permanent everyday relationship would be like. He came from a poor family, so I have made a serious financial committment in land and a house (secured for what it's worth with a 30 year lease in my name) I have never regretted it, my financial input has been repaid many times with his emotional input.
  6. Vinapu, while some members don't want a permanent partner it can be good for your ego. I will be 70 in June and my better half, cuts my hair, plucks the white hair from my eyebrows, removes the hair from my ears, cuts my finger and toe nails and tells me I look 40 - ha ha. No wonder I love him so much.
  7. Me too, we have had a couple of Christmas Eve dinners there and enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
  8. We all know with our Thai partners mum comes first. But dont knock it, my partner's mum passed away 5 years ago and I know he still misses her.
  9. I have a couple of suggestions providing you don't mind spending a bit of money: Have a cocktail at sunset at The Sky Bar at the Banyan Tree - not the best cocktails and expensive but an experience - dress smartly. Follow it up with dinner at La Table De Tee My partner and I have eaten here three times and always enjoyed it, it's a set menu with choices on some courses and for the quality is reasonably priced, but note it isn't Thai food. It is a small restaurant so you should make a reservation.
  10. I certainly do not believe all retirees wait till the official retirement age, Within my circle of friends probably 3 out of 4 did including some who finished work in the UK but continued some kind of work here. Another contributing factor in the UK would be where you live or lived. If you were fortunate enough to inherit or sell a property in London or The South East you would end up with several times the money you would realise in The North West or North East. My experience is of most people working to or near the official retirement age, your experience is obviously different. I also have a friend who was able to retire in his late 40s and travels all over the world
  11. Peter I am from the UK, happily retired and living a great life with my better half in rural Thailand. I do not normally agree with abidismaili but on this imo he is correct. I suspect a perception of retirement age depends upon your circle of home country friends, if you had a well paid job, it is probable that your friends were in similar jobs and could retire young. In my case I had a middling salary, was divorced 20 years ago loosing half my assets and pensions (no complaints) and needed to work until I was 64. Straight friends I have around here were in similar situations and worked until well into their sixties
  12. Having 4 dogs you could say I am a dog lover. I have never seen a dog in the cabin of a plane, is this an American thing?
  13. I think a lot of airlines have done the same
  14. Numazu, you can't keep your loyal followers hanging on like this!
  15. I have never met you Abang but always hoped on one of my infrequent visits to Pattaya from up country I would see you sat in a bar and i would get the chance to have a beer and a natter. Sorry to hear you are leaving us, it is a great shame as you do have an interesting perspective on life Why don't you reconsider? But take care and have a Happy Birthday - from an old farang
  16. Not for the Brits living in Thailand with the rate of exchange
  17. I think Nong Nooch Gardens would be worth a visit and they have the tram type motor to travel around in
  18. If you are willing to pay for a guide Siam Roads (who often post through Moses on this website) seem to have an excellent reputation
  19. I really enjoyed reading this article. Thanks Forrestreid
  20. Numazu please keep reporting and including photos exactly as you have done to date. I, for one, trust your judgement in this matter and don't require explanations
  21. Think about the expats who's pensions are now suddenly 20% less in Thai baht
  22. You guys need to live out in the sticks. I live in a village in Isaan and when I need a massage a (I guess) 50 year old Cambodian lady who is a thin as a stick comes around to the house. She is amazing always finding and treating the spot and working on it. I pay 300 baht for 2 hours (no tip), I had started by paying 500 until my partner told me it was far to much and I would be creating a false market for the rest of the village
