There is also a Harbor Mall in Pattaya , it is on Pattaya Klang (Central Road) past Big C Extra and next to Foodland

Silom soi 4 definitely NO WATER (and VERY packed) but definitely NOT alcohol free.
It was so much better fun there when Balcony bar closed for Songkran and the water play went on without the fun police

does anyone know the precise dates the water madness starts and finishes in BKK and Pattaya
Pattaya will likely start on the 12th and finish late on the 19th, 13 & 14 will be busy, there will be a little lull around 16& 17 before things kick off again on 18th and the main day of the 19th.
If last year is anything to go by water play will not stop at 19.00 and will continue in selected pockets all night long or water/powder fights will break out spontaneously in venues as the night progresses.
I have already seen pics on FB of powder play starting in Jomtien Soi 12 late at night.
Bkk will likely start on the 12th and finish late on the 15th, Songkran lovers will move to Pattaya for a continuation of the fun

Even worse is when they grab your bottle by the mouth piece and pull it out of the cooler sleeve to see what you have left!

no tourists or temporary residents please
Seems you are limiting your potential friend circle to a group of people that may be quite jaded and cynical about life in Thailand. Remember today's tourists are tomorrow's residents and potentially know more about what is going on than the expats that live sheltered lives.
Us temporary tourists are human too!

During Songkran weekend 4/12 - 4/14, where would it be more fun to be at: Bangkok, Pattaya or Chiang Mai?
Thanks
Depends on what you are into...
BKK will be filled with the "white party" crowd, younger white ravers that think they are gods gift to mankind and their admirers, along with Chinese/Taiwan panda types doing their conga trains.
Clubs will be mobbed and dangerously overcrowded, long queues will ensue. No taxi will want to take you anywhere when you are dripping wet.
Pattaya will be filled with the Songkran "terrorists" that some of our members seem to be so scared of. Unlike Bkk, the water play is probably going to go from April 12th straight through April 20th, based on recent years, nightfall is no longer the guaranteed ending time (especially in Soi 6/7/Buakow/Beach Road and Jomtien Complex)....It will be mayhem, but at least you can get transported on a Songtaew.
Whichever location, as long as you are willing to go with the flow, smile and be happy, you will have a ball! Just booked my flights and cant wait for it!

Is nan jomtien walkable from the jomtien complex?
assuming you mean Na Jomtien, then its 3-4 miles, and not convenient for north bound traffic back to Jomtien itself.
Not recommended unless you want a beach and sea food holiday

Why? Is there anything there to attract gay Asian clientele?
The full name of the hotel is "Pullman Bangkok Hotel G" where G is for Gays
I assume its popular as it is the closest affordable but upscale hotel to Silom for the twenty something Taiwan or Singaporean tourist

Are you talking about J from @home bar? He is very cute, hope he’s ok. I play pool with him but never offed him. I’d like to take him off during high season. Maybe he won’t be there.
I don’t have his contact so he never sent me a request.Jay has been back in Cambodia since just after Songkran. According to his cousin, he's supposed to be coming back late August

since when is a s-expat a higher position in life than a sex-tourist?
Neither is in a position to judge the other?

3500 for a bottle of JWR seems pretty acceptable to me. Assume it was 1L and all mixers were included?

Isn't the purpose of the Gay Romeo, Grinder and Other Hookup Sites - Gay Guides Forum exactly for doing what is suggested in this thread?

Pre Covid:
Our Songkran used to start in Silom on the night of April 12th, at the time Twilight was still going strong and the party poopers on Soi 4 had not brought in their water ban. As soon as it hit around 23.00 the water would start to flow and Songkran would unofficially kick off.
We would then spend the day of the 13th in Silom and move to Khao San road on the 14th, before heading to Pattaya that evening.
Pattaya on the 15th was usually Soi 6/7/8 in the day time before heading to Country Road or Bamboo Bar in Jomtien, just in time to "terrorise" the Baht bus customers heading home from the beach. (Remember Songkran haters: one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter!)
16 and 17 were usually quiet enough in Pattaya, except Soi 6/7/8, Soi Buakow and some play in Jomtien near Country Road/Bamboo Bar.
Naklua was the place to be on the 18th and it used to be mobbed with gay boys out having fun and grabbing cocks at the same time they plaster powder on your face! A bag of beers is usually a handy thing to have with you for sharing with new friends. There was usually also an outdoor Morlam that night which again would turn to water chaos, especially as it is so hot, there is no option but to cool down! A lot of the gay boys stay up all that night, usually ending up on walking street which unofficially turns 24 hours for 1 night only.
On the 19th it is of course all out madness all over the town with bumper to bumper traffic for miles, again we usually hit Soi 6/7/8 and Central before heading to Jomtien Complex for the festivities there...
When i first started coming to Pattaya in 2001 it was guaranteed to rain at 19.00 on the 19th and all water play would stop, I remember wading home the roads were so flooded with rains, however the last few years pre-covid I noticed that water & powder play would continue on until the early hours of the 20th, especially in the late night venues
Post Covid:
Last year was a disaster with Covid and the water play ban, The "powder parties" in JC were fun last year, but not very good for your lungs!
Who knows whether the authorities will once again make another water ban... But if they don't we will be repeating our traditions as much as we can!

And to clarify. There are plenty of khmer boys who show up in Pattaya or BKK not speaking a word of English. Ages months later they are full of chat. At the same time their local contemporaries are still on 'what your name'

These days Cambodians for me 100%
I remember visiting Siem Reap in 2004 and not a word of English could be found away from the hotels.
One generation later it's hard to find any Khmer who doesn't blabber away in English!

No idea about the 56, suggested it to my BF previously but as it was similar priced to the Raya Surawong at the time we went for it as an old reliable

If you want close to DJ you should choose the D'Varee Diva (Bally Suites) which is over Burger king at the mouth of silom Soi2 or the D'Varee express which is next to GOD 100 meters down the road

On one side the tourists complain about how boring JC is as there is nothing to do but sit, drink and watch the boys play their mobiles
On the other side the expats complain when there is entertainment in a bar that it is impinging on their rights to sit, drink and watch the boys play play their mobiles.
Who would want to be a bar owner!

I don't think I have ever heard a single Thai say "la gorn"
The semi westernised will say bye-bye or good night. Issan folk will simply walk away saying nothing. Same way they end their phone calls without saying goodbye!

Even more confusing is that there is also a harborland on the top floor of Terminal 21!
