I am returning to Rio on August 18 it is the first flight AA is flying from Miami. I will create my own sauna experience at my apartment.

Regarding travel health insurance, Alliance is covering Covid-19  in its policy.

I had AA miles that have been impossible to use over the past few years, even to upgrade to business. I was able to purchase with miles 3 business class tickets for a total of 240,000 miles + $59.00 for travel August, November, and January.

    Good luck with that!

    Hi everyone

Because I'm now COVID-19 immune (wouldn't wish this horrible disease on my worst enemy), I was hoping to go to Rio and Sao Paulo so as to take advantage of the exceptionally good GBP:fuck ratio.

I believe the Brazilian government have introduced bans on foreign nationals entering Brazil - is there any indication of when this ban is likely to be lifted?

Also, are the saunas currently open for business?

Where are you flying from since all flights to Rio are banned and not happening...

Its winter there and from reports from friends, Covid is doing a bad job over in Rio...

    Good luck with that

What “science and data” informed you that COVID-19 deaths are being overreported or mischaracterized?

I never stated that the deaths were being over reported....You don't die from Covid the same way you don't die from AIDS/HIV, you die from complications related to the disease...

Another complication for assigning a cause of death for COVID-19 is that some younger people have died of strokes and heart attacks and then tested positive for COVID-19 without any history of respiratory symptoms. The virus is now known to cause blood clots, suggesting that COVID-19 was the killer in these cases, too.

Perhaps, the best clue as to whether COVID-19 deaths have been undercounted or overcounted is excess mortality data. Excess mortality is deaths above and beyond what would normally be expected in a given population in a given year. CDC data shows a spike of excess mortality in early 2020, adding up to tens of thousands of deaths.

Some argue that many of these excess deaths are related to COVID-19 lockdowns, not COVID-19 themselves, Faust said, because people fear catching the disease if they go to the hospital for other reasons. A study in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology did find that nine major hospitals saw a 38% drop in emergency visits for a particular kind of heart attack in March. That suggests that people really are delaying or avoiding medical care, which could mean that some of them die of preventable causes.

  4. I understand your fear and get it, especially since you may be in the high risk groups...

You have tons of choices....wear masks, stay inside, get vaccinated as soon as its available...

Again, I follow science and data and not fear

I have a parent who works in the medical field and aside from watching the news and fact checking what is distributed, I also do what works best for ME...

cooked up stats to force vaccines and nano particle tracing which are unsafe toxic and untested . yes the virus is real but it affects the elderly and ones with compromised immune systems.

Totally agree with this....I do believe the virus is 100% real but the handling of patients by medical professionals led to many unnecessary deaths as well as incorrect treatment...

I also feel that many people who died were incorrectly labeled as passing away from CoviD19 which also increased fear around the world, increasing the desire for a vaccine that will be available in record time...

I follow science and data and not fear

  6. Quick question since it seems to be a HOT topic?

Who is actually in or headed to Brazil to enjoy the favorable exchange rate?  Nobody...

While the exchange rate is great for every other country besides Brazil....in these crazy times when nobody can actually go and enjoy the country or help share the wealth, this topic went all the way left...

We need to all be empathetic to others during these times versus fussing (how it seemed to me) about how much of a deal you can get versus someone else...

  7. I agree with most of what everybody has commented on but everybody also needs to remember that your price is also quoted based on what you look like by some of the guys....

I know fat or out of shape or overly gross guys will be quoted higher prices in hopes they so no because its too much work...

I have also seen/been given a better rate/lower rate based on how attractive you are to the sauna guys....

That is a huge variable when it comes to pricing...while there are set prices, it pays to be in shape, healthy, attractive, CLEAN, etc.

  8. I asked a member who feels the needs to reply to everything everyone posts to kindly NOT reply or respond to anything I post...

I personally have a hard time comprehending what he is trying to say/get across every time he posts...

Can you guess who it was...

Not how message boards work. If you enter an interesting topic, members wanna respond and weigh in. You and others are likely to continue making contributions that stimulate discussion. I think what tipped the camel’s back for you is a post that actually generated added discussion about viral testing following my piece. The additional points were illuminating to me.

It is too labour-intensive to sift, edit, self-limit according to anyone else’s quirky political theatre. You can put me on ignore. Rarely do posters use full quotes that are harder to evade. Or you can keep posting emoticons that, by the way, all (4) count as acknowledgements in the weekly, etc, tally. You do you.

Believe it or not, my tongue is scarred from repeated biting.

I have a pristine community reputation with no warnings or time-outs to date. Administration would likely view this request as petty, and only a narcissist would truly expect someone to accommodate it as it conveys essentially conceding that what they write falls short of a required standard.

I am not going to turn off  DM notifications but if you respond further I will likely only read it for personal entertainment. I suggest you don’t bother.

I'm thinking about the second half of August for 3 or 4 weeks. But I have been thinking for too long.

I could buy lufthansa ticket from my city in europe to rio for $500, now it's $1100

I could buy latam to SDU for $600, now it's 1200.

I wonder if the prices drop again

I checked airbnb. The appartment I rented for $38 now $16

Still there are so many questions - will it be possible to transit via european airports? What about a quarantine on arrival to brazil (now it's voluntary 7 days if i am not wrong)?

What about quarantine on returning home?

And I think august-september is the best time to sneak in between two waves of virus, isn't it?

You would be going to Brazil in the middle of winter when they may in the midst of their peak or right after...

Honestly you may want to chill out, relax and look at going to Brazil in 4 quarter of this year when it will be summer and prices will surely go back down

Also take into account you can literally fly anywhere you want to go but keep in mind what will be open/available for you to do...

Saunas a still closed, beaches are closed, all entertainment is shut down all over Brazil currently

You won't get beach or sun in Bogota. Always cloudy and cool. Medellin is more a tourist mecca with constant sun, warmth and hotel pools. The Caribbean coast is very sunny and beach but less gay life. Bogota is easiest for hook ups, Medellin has better looking guys and is so-so for hookups.

Thanks for that info....when you say Medellin has better looking guys and is so so for hookups, can you go into detail and explain that...?

    Thanks

It’s not the role for medical experts to come up with a “compromise” in order to reduce unemployment or boredom at home. Their job is to save as many lives as possible during a global pandemic.

Right now, the USA has more recorded cases and deaths from COVID-19 than any other country, mostly due to the lagged (at best) or failed (at worst) response — not by our medical professionals, but by our federal government leader, and many state government leaders who take their cues from him.

I didn’t think it was even possible, but the response to the pandemic by Bozonaro at this point lags behind that of Drumpf. He’s about where Drumpf was a month ago, and Dumb Donald’s current position is not quite evolved enough to flatten the curve and curb a pandemic. The respected Oxford University model predicts 478,000 deaths from COVID-19 in Brazil alone. Recent news reports indicate that Brazil is seriously under reporting both its coronavirus cases of infection AND its deaths (known and unknown) in impoverished areas (favelas). meanwhile, Bozo refers to it as “just a little flu” and encourages the country’s largely catholic population to attend crowded churches every Sunday.

This thing in Brazil is NOT going to end anytime soon. Not without months of forced closings and social distancing. It’s probably going to be one of hardest hit nations, at this rate.

It brings me no joy to say this, but it’s shaping up to be a blood bath down there. The last thing any of us should be concerned about is when a sauna will re-open.

Back to what I originally stated, right now, we need medical professionals to definitely save as many lives as possible....that does't change the fact that the economies of the world are fucked up so there has to be some type of compromise, a vaccine will take a long time....Better testing across the board, getting concrete figures on who is more likely to get the virus....finding out if you are immune is you are exposed to the virus....Im not a medical professional (SOMEBODY WHO IS, FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE SOME SOLID INFO)...

Here is what I do know-

The US and every other country in the world, can't have cities, states, countries shut down for months...PERIOD...

I am 100% concerned about people getting sick and dying...How much of that has to do with healthcare, testing, treatment, etc.?

I am less concerned with going to the saunas than as few people dying as possible AS WELL as people getting back to work...Maybe government can figure out how to work on that...Hell I don't know...

What I do know is that giving stimulus money or subsidies won't be enough to help unemployment, small business, people all over the world...The same way that not testing, having preventative methods as well as being proactive as a whole to all possible outcomes...

What are your thoughts and opinions...?

  13. Same here...was supposed to hit Rio right before winter set in...

I seriously double that they will be up and running by the end of this month, the same way I doubt the US will...

BUT since both countries Presidents share many of the same views on getting the economies up and running as soon as possible, there may be something in the works...

I think we will know by the end of the third week of April how thing are looking for April 30th or May...

Neither the US or Brazil can hold out for months...the unemployment rates would be unfucking real...people unemployed with nothing but time on their hands would not be a good thing even in the midst of a pandemic..

Medical experts need to come up with some type of compromise...

Is it possible? Yes anything is possible! Is it probable? NO!
It not going to happen if you are going to Brazil for a week or two once a year! If you are not going back at a minimum every 3 months or so for a couple weeks or living there, then you are just another lonely guy looking for love in the wrong place!

i understand as guys hit their 40’s and 50’s feeling the need to be loved and/or someone special in his life! but the chances of that happening where one person is 25 yrs + older and is the one with the income/career and the other is attractive in his 20’s sauna guy...everyone understands the “dance” especially the sauna guys!
this was told to me by a Brazilian Sauna owner on my 2nd trip to Rio in early 2002 “remember, once a sauna boy always a sauna boy! It makes no difference if they worked there a month or a year you will always represent a $$ figure to them!  I have found out he was so right! Guy in professional and semi-professional positions ate looking for a way out of Brazil and a American or European or Australian is their idea of fast tracking their situation!  I know 3 Americans over the years who thought their situation with their guy was different! They were all wrong! The same thing is going on right now with Venezuelan guys and wealthier Mexicans! Again I know of severaljust in the city of Mérida where I have a home!

Go to Brazil enjoy the sex fall in lust but not in love!  Btw the above happened to me as well, I had to learn the hard way! Brazil is a great little place and I have a lot of friends there and you’ve may find love there it just won’t be in the sauna!  Good luck!

You have answered this question to SOOO many guys....You should save this response and just repost if to the next sucker who asks you this....SMILE

Tomcal, seriously, you answered that perfectly and authoritatively, and your words resonated very deeply - thank you.

I was extremely wary about being someone’s ticket to freedom, as have been that previously if only for friends in Brazil with whom I developed strong bonds and the deepest of affection, and you are right in that I am looking for something more like love and with substance and it can be someone older - around my age - and not in the saunas.

I was looking to spend 2-3 months there this time to actually immerse myself more fully into the culture and see what can be nurtured. Anyways, who knows!

Thanks again - funnily, enough, I am even more interested in hanging out with and meeting like-minded people like yourself and others on this forum! Haha

take care and thanks for responding so clearly and eloquently!

So you wanted somebody to respond to you in a eloquent way saying the same thing that has been answered 50 million times in the forum

When you end up a tragic case of I told you so, please report back on that...

You basically asked a question that you knew the answer to...

And NO I don't understand getting older and wanting sincere, real love with somebody half your age...I live in reality and not a fantasy world....

This whole post just made me understand that there are a lot of dummies in the world, even more...

You can not be serious about finding love in the saunas with men/boys half your age who are WORKING...WHAT THE .....Nevermind

Its clear that some of you guys were never loved enough as kids and haven't learned self love as an adult...You can not be that naive OR thirsty....

Brazil AINT where you go to find love....No matter how good looking, how rich, how nice, how special YOU think you are

Haha! :) I take your point badboy... I am fit, healthy, active, handsome, 42, and lived in other parts of Brazil about a decade ago for about 18 months, and I speak Portuguese quite well... I also know that having lived there I formed strong kinships as friends with guys non-sexually that I still speak to today, and yet in other respects I also know the culture well enough to know that you can be seen as a $$$ sign, a walking ATM and a gringo, too.

For this reason, I will also be using scruff, jack’d and tinder for just non-paying encounters too.

I am realistic, pragmatic and certainly open to having fun but I guess there is a part of me that is looking for something a little more longer lasting. Don’t get me wrong, I know of guys here in Australia who have dated and are in longer term relationships with dude who they met when they hired them originally as hookers, so anything is possible however improbable!

it’s good getting some grounded perspectives... thank you

Then that is a big difference...if you are looking for age comparable guys then you might be able to find that...

I'm sure there are a ton of attractive 30 and 40 years old in Rio who are not looking for money but maybe a boyfriend....

Your best chance of meeting guys like this would be in professional settings, upscale locales around Rio...not too sure if you will find something substantial off the apps either since a lot of the guys on the apps are looking for money OR a good time...

You knowing Portuguese is also useful...

[this is in reaction to badboy's reply - in the meantime I saw sunchaser's followup but I'll leave my reply as another point of view]

That's a bit pessimistic, or rather, you just have to look in the right places.  In my late 50s, not in especially good shape, I had zero problems hooking up at Aterro do Flamengo with fit guys of all ages who just wanted sex, not money.  This is the spot: https://pt-br.facebook.com/pages/category/Company/Pegação-Gay-Aterro-do-Flamengo-1476666512655123/

And zero problems setting a return date.  I don't know whether that's the kind of thing you're looking for, but I thought I'd add a different perspective.

I did once give a generous cash present to one of the guys I liked, but he neither asked for it nor expected it - I just felt for him as he was a hardworking construction guy saving up for the down payment on a shack somewhere.

It's true that I speak Portuguese fluently (though I look like a gringo).  But if you bother to learn some, or if you already have some Spanish, you may very well get lucky.

Just be careful not to get mugged.  And don't try to do more than making out at the cruising spot (or maybe oral, but even that is risky as the police make their rounds).  Instead go to a motel.

There are other good spots all over.  Google Pegação gay.

    11923594_1476667612655013_37583104476239

I don't think he is looking for a hook up versus an actual relationship or something more substantial...
