  1. In general male visitors to your room is not a problem in hotels in Vietnam (unless at late evening/at night). Local guys may be required to leave their ID at the reception (in particular if the purpose of the visit to the room is quite clear) and once the guy picks up his ID the reception may call you in the room to hear if you are OK.

SGN hotels: There are plenty of good mid level hotels in HCMC, e.g. on Ly Tu Trong street near Ben Thanh market. The Silverland hotels are recommended and reasonably priced. Plenty a cheaper but still good hotels around in that area - I suggest to look around once you get there. My recent experience is that last minute rates are cheaper than if you book long time in advance and that weekend rates are higher than weekday rates.

Gay bar: Try Thi bar or Republic Club on Durong de Tham near the famous Bui Vien street  (both are gay venues very busy on Friday/Saturday nights). I can't help you with sauna/massage venues. You will find plenty of massage guys or MB in the apps - if the massage part is important to you make sure to make that very clear - most "massage guys" coming to your room will engage directly in the fun part of the deal skipping the massage part - despite their marketing online the reality is that most are MB rather than massage guys.

Were there any boys to be had in Dalat ?

I was in Dalat earlier this month. A charming destination for a few days - somewhat cooler than the soaring heat in Nha Trang and HCMC, what a relief!

There are plenty of fine very good value hotels there. The several Tulip chain hotels seem like a good deal. The Iris hotel is more expensive but also a more posh (the entrance/lobby - the rooms are quite basic though). I used Agoda exclusively to book hotels there. In general the price level is lower in than HCMC, Hanoi etc. I had a perfect hair cut for 60,000 Dong!

As for boys, the apps (Grindr, Blued and Hornet) were quite busy. Plenty of interest from what appeared to be next-door VN boys but I can imagine that if you are a mature "daddy" with a body everything else than fit there may be less takers in Dalat compared to what you are used to in Thailand (this applies in Vietnam in general) Some guys have limited English skills though and may be too shy to connect with a foreigner. Some massage/MB guys online - very reasonable rates offered once you interact with the boys. Maybe it goes without saying but often their initial quotes are very much negotiable. In HCMC expect to pay around 1,000,000 Dong for hot gym fit/muscle guys - in Dalat around half to 2/3 of that (admittedly, I didn't take any offers in Dalat). If you are offered rates very much lower than this there is a high risk that the boy will turn out to be much less fit or attractive than seen from his profile pic and the hot pics he sent to you when chatting online, so watch out!

Nha Trang: Nice city with great beaches and night life (I didn't find any gay bars though) but everything geared towards Russian and Chinese tourists - they are everywhere and most signs etc are in Russian! I was approached several times in Russian language (by other tourists or street vendors) because apparently the assumption is that all foreigners (western) speak Russian. I doubt I will return to Nha Trang and fail to see that Thai tourists will find Nha Trang attractive as a tourist destination even with direct flights - it's marketed towards completely different tourist types (Chinese and Russian).

I didn't look for any M2M massage venues so can't comment on that.

    Name seems to be “Koon”

Indeed this guy caught my attention too at the Grand Opening show. Very manly and handsome guy

So his name is Mr Koon...I will try to remember.

The guy in center front  (I don't know this name - it may be Sin, but I wouldn't be able to tell) was at the Grand Opening show on 7 April. I noticed him several times on stage (I can't recall his number). His body (mind you, he is a short guy) and the confident attitude and way of moving appealed to me - however, his face didn't.

Nakki and Rome were only at Moonlight as guest models for the anniversary. Not sure if they will return or if they accept offs. My friend saw Nakki posing for photos with customers outside the bar after the show, but didn’t notice if he left with any of them.

Totally correct. Pictures with Nakki and customers were taken outside afterward and I think I saw him and Mr Rome went off without being accompanied by customers (i.e. I dont think they were offed).

Though i dont think itll be way overboard to request compensation of time wasted and night ruined though i wonder if moonlight or any bar for that matter will be willing to give anything more than off fee.

Anything beyond refund of the off fee will most likely just get you a stare (aka I don't know what you are talking about) and if understood then "I'm sorry, Sir but we can't do that. Sorry". The concept of compensation for wasted time and inconvenience/annoyance does not exist in Thailand (or in fact most countries beyond the US).

Idly curious if Babe is travelling with his girlfriend or a customer, meanwhile enjoying all his ab shots.

Whilst certainly possible that Mr Babe is on vacation on his own or with his GF, it is much more likely that he is traveling with a sponsor/customer. I don't want to sound rude, but Silom guys taking the initiative to and organising on their own a trip like to Japan with the activities/sights seen in Mr Babe's IG pics, is hardly likely.

Also, should I visit Lumpini Park during the day to meet bodybuilders?

Well, I wouldn't get my expectations too high from a stroll in Lumpini Park. There is a small outdoor gym but sort of fenced off (you pay a small fee to use the gym) and it will be difficult to get in touch with the guys. Whilst some guys may be gay and looking for more than just the exercise, my impression is that the majority of guys there are straight and are there to work out; not to hook up with a farang. But Lumpini Park is a very nice place and a lot of things to be seen there, so I recommend that you try it out - but a man-to-man session with a muscle guy is unlikely there.

You will be able to sit on bench outside the gym and admire the guys from a distance. The outdoor gym may be a bit difficult to find as the park is huge (I always have to walk a bit back and forth to find it). Admittedly, I have never entered the gym area to get closer to guys there - I would feel somewhat intimidated to work out there among the thai muscle guys there, let alone to enter with the only purpose to glance at the guys working out. I'm not sure how well a "spectator only" will be welcome inside the gym area but give it a try and report back.

  9. You mean the thai guys performing on stage and interacting/drinking with guests between shows?

I know a thai guy who has been a "model" at Zag Club for some time (currently he is not). He will label himself "model" rather than coyote dancer or even worse go-go boy (they are not go-go boys). They get paid to appear on stage and perform shows - first show will be fully dressed (often jeans and boots) or shirtless - second show will be in speedos or other sexy outfit. During the shows they will accept tips or quick drink shots from the audience and between shows they will mingle with guests on the floor, join their tables to drink and chat with guests (you are of course required to buy drinks for them or to "open bottle" with them). Some will be gay - some are obviously straight guys. Most have fit/lean/gym bodies of course. So you could label the guys "hot and friendly hosts or entertainers" encouraging you to spent money in the bar/club.

It is the same concept that you find in other Thai gay clubs like Fake or RCA in BKK

I'm not sure the models can be "offed" but I guess if they like you and you make a generous offer exceptions can be made - after all this is Thailand...

  10. Since he didnt demand anything...

    ?

Surely you paid for his "services" in the room - or do you mean that he threw in a HJ or even more for free/without any additional payment to his massage fee?

  11. I'm planning to go to Phuket in early December for a few days.  I'm staying in Karon, which I know is miles from the bar area, but I'll probably take a taxi (expensive, I know) to the Paradise Complex one night (or more if I have fun).  My question is: as a portly older gentleman (read: fat old faggot), will I feel unwelcome in the bars?  I'm not looking for love, but I might be looking for company.  I'll be spending the rest of my trip in Pattaya and I know what to expect there.  But I haven't been to Phuket in 30 years and I read suggestions that it features a "younger crowd." Would that apply to customers in the boy bars?  Or is it more important, as in Pattaya, that my bahts are ageless?

Yes, you will be subject to the local taxi/tuk-tuk mafia - expect at least 600 THB from Karon to Patong o/w.

There are a few nice and friendly bars in Paradise complex. Time, Connect bar, Sundowners come to mind (these are not go-go bars). I'm quite sure you will feel welcome there - some of the bar hosts are very friendly and creates a friendly/good vibe. Friday and Saturdays are best to visit Paradise complex as otherwise it can be a little dull as the numbers of guests are low, in particular in low season. I wouldn't say that there is a younger crowd - perhaps at Zag Club (seems to attract younger Chinese customers) and to some extent Boat Bar, but the bars I mentioned certainly also cater for the more mature crowd. No need to worry about that. All venues are conveniently located in the same soi so easy to spot where the action is and visit several venues as many guests seem to do).

  12. No.8 (Watt from Surat) is the cutest guy there, but unlikely to have the most beautiful body you have ever seen. Don't get me wrong - his body is very nice but not outstanding (his face on the other hand...OMG) so it is likely to be one of the other guys there.

And surely the models (muscle guys) parading on stage, including the famous Mr Babe, will charge you much more than 2000 B for fun. So also to me it remains a mystery who you actually offed?

  13. Just to follow up on my inquiry above regarding the Airbnb condos in the Klass building in Silom soi 3.

I had a great 8night/9day stay in a 1 bdr apartment there (late check-out was generously granted; perfect!). Although not big (32sqm) the condo served its purpose. The bedroom was quite small but the bathroom was well sized with a shower (rather than a bathtub). The bed mattress was the way I like it; not too soft. Bedlinen and towels were obviously provided (but not changed during my stay; I suppose I could have washed them in the washing machine but I was too lazy to do it). Aircondition was quiet and fully functional. Fully equipped with fridge, washing machine, microwave oven, toaster, cups, glasses, plates and kitchen utensils, etc it was very easy to stay there. Great view of the Sathon skyline from the small balcony outside the room (I was on the top floor). Very quiet at all times; I had no noise issues at all. Perfect.

You have to use the keycard to activate the lift so any quests will have to be picked-up at the lobby (I found the lobby area very nice with chairs, couches etc) and similarly you need to follow them to lift in order for them to take the lift to 1st floor (ground floor lobby).

There is a guard 24/7, however, not in lobby but at a small booth opposite the main entrance to the building. There was no issue taking guests to the room. In fact, my impression was that many of the condos are short term leased to tourists of whom many a gay travelers - I saw several couples (farang or asian tourists together with what seemed to be a local guy) entering or leaving the building.

The location is great - 5 min walking from Silom soi 4, soi 2, and Sala Daeng BTS station. On weekdays there is great and small inexpensive lunch market right across the street. There is a convenience store (7/11) very close to the property.

Pricing was fair for short term rental (but on the high side compared to the rates for monthly rentals in the area) but considering the cheap hotel options in the area you shouldn't do a Airbnb booking to save on the accommodation costs. The excessive Airbnb booking fee is annoying and so is the inflexibility of changing or cancelling your reservation (without costs). Next time I will consider the Baan Silom soi 3 property across the street which has cheaper options and the rooms seems a bit larger; these condos seem also widely available on Airbnb.

Lastly, no smell issues at all when entering the building; luckily this seems to have been an issue of the past.

  14. ...and number 8 charmed me the whole night with his dancing. Somehow, i didn't feel a need for an off tonight on my last night in Bangkok. I had already enjoyed myself thoroughly this trip. I got up from my seat, walked towards number 8 and slipped him a 500-baht note. Squeals of delight from the waiters and mamasans (they are one dramatic bunch of drama queens) plus a shocked but happy look on number 8's face.

No. 8 is indeed very cute/handsome. Not the most lean body or muscle guy type on stage but the face and smile outshines the other guys at Moonlight (he seems to be one of the most popular guys there). He is from the south (Surat/Krabi area) but I forgot his name.

  15. Obviously, the boys get a cut when a customer orders a drink for them - otherwise there would be no incentive on the boys to ask for drink /encourage the customers to order drinks.

  16. Sorry for resurrecting the old thread, but I hope for some advice from you guys on Airbnb listings in Silom/Sathon.

First a bit of back-ground: I have been to BKK many times and stayed at various hotels in Sukhumvit, on Th. Wittayu and in Sathon - but never in Silom area. This time I think about renting a condo for my stay next month (10d/9nights). I know that hotels are cheap and the savings by staying in a condo is not significant, but I have decided to give it a try. I like the idea of having a 1 bdr condo and also closer to Silom soi 4 and soi 2 where I usually hang out at night. I have yet to experience any problems taking local guys to the room at hotels in BKK, but nevertheless I like the ease of taking a guy to your condo rather than passing a hotel front desk with a local guy.

Anyway, here is my Q: There seems to be a rather new property in Silom soi 3 with many listings on Airbnb - I will not mention any names here (not sure if appropriate or not) but any readers in here familiar with Airbnb listings in Silom soi 3 most likely will know which property/building I'm talking about. It has a great out-door swimming pool, gym and seems to be 3-5 years old, rates in region of USD 45-60/night - one of persons with some listings at this property mention that you have to pick-up the key card at the hotel next door.

Any experience on this property? It is mentioned in several reviews that there is a bad sewage smell at the entrance and lift area  - anyone stayed there recently to confirm this? An issue? Any issues (with security guy at lobby) taking local guys to your room ? It should be fairly easy to ask friends to come to this property and pick them up at the entrance area.

Anyway, in addition to asking about your experience with this particular property, the reason for my post was also hear if there are better alternatives in this area - not only Silom soi 3 but Silom and Sathon in general. I like Suan Plu very much and I see some listings which appears to be hotel rooms (e.g. at PanXXp Suites) and some expensive listings around Sathon soi 1, but I'm not going to spend well in excess of USD 100/n for a condo in Bangkok (knowing how cheap hotels rates are in general).

Any advice? A PM would be most welcome as well. Thanks

  17. Apps in BKK: Asking price for a Thai MB will be 2000 B and up. Western escort guys will ask much more. You should be able to negotiate down to 1,500 B - even 1,000 B if the MB is Cambodian, Vietnamese etc, needs cash or are short of customers (low season). Offer anything lower than 1,000 B and you will be considered a cheap Charlie.

For the avoidance of doubt: I'm talking about ST (not LT); MB will fuck you in your room until you cum and quickly leave with a few bank notes in his hands/pocket. Easy!
