I had a very nice Italian dinner tonight at Azzurro. It is a nice and small Italian place near Phra Kanhong. The food was good but the deserts were excellent. If you are in this area, they have a really great lunch special until 4 or 5 each day that is really reasonable.

I made it to Bangkok mid-day, yesterday, Saturday...which was Visalia Buddha Day.  As FloridaRob noted elsewhere in the Forum that translates into NO ALCOHOL until midnight.
I flew in on Thai airways from Hong Kong.  I arrived in Hong Kong from San Francisco Friday evening.  I stayed at the Regal Airport Hotel which is a walkway away from Terminal 1.  It’s decent and seems to house tourists like me who don’t want to wander around the terminal and sleep on benches waiting for their connection, it also houses flight crews from a roster of airlines.  Note: Romeo and Blued were filled with what looked to be flight attendants.
Rant - periodically in this trip report, I may use the space to vent.  Here is the first one - I was pleased to note that I was upgraded on the flight to HK...this was the second time in a week, having received the same courtesy going to London 6 days prior.  Nice, but with the lay-flat seats, it’s claustrophobic!  I was never comfortable in the flat bed as I’m a side sleeper.  The UA beds are designed for those who sleep on their backs.  Back in the days without cubbyhole business seating, the seats reclined but not into beds, I was always able to sleep...Actually, once I turned the bed into more of a recliner I slept.  One more addition to this rant: is there a rule that window shades should be down throughout the flight.  Only three were up even for landing.  Increases my sense of being in a cave...and unlike the Thai soccer boys, not sure of a rescue.
Rave - rants should be offset by raves.  This rave is for my fellow Forum members.  BiggusDikkus’s reminiscence of his tour led visit to Galaxy Boys, reminded me of how much reading this Forum and taking in the advice helped when I returned to Thailand after a two decade absence.  Examples from the first hours of this trip.
As I report on my visit, I’ll note where there was a Forum insight.
Thai’s flight from HK was comfortable and all the window shades were up.  I had a row to myself, the 777-300 was only half full.  One incredibly handsome, sexy guy, a row over.  BUT he was with his wife/girl friend and the mother of one of them was in Business.  Enjoyable eye candy.
Arriving close to on time, it was a good half mile to immigration.  Incredibly handsome guy and family sped by in a cart.  My mind goes to Crazy Rich Asians.  Get to immigration and it is jammed.  Forum Rave note;  a few years back one of the Forum members, perhaps PaulSF, told me about the priority channel...which is for diplomats, monks, and folks over 70.  I’m in one of those categories and was the only one using the channel.
Note - if it hasn’t been mentioned already, immigration is collecting fingerprint scans as part of the arrival process.
My luggage was arriving at the carrousel just as I did.  Incredibly handsome guy was there with two assistants pulling luggage.  Then I noticed that the mom was in a wheelchair...explaining the ride from the plane and the need for the help with luggage he’s still handsome...
Forum rave = this was one of the very rate times I’ve arrived when the trains are running to the City.  I carefully followed the directions provided more than once by Vinapu.  Go to level B, use the machines, take the token, but (Forum rave) find the currency exchange as noted.  My rate was 31.71 to the dollar.
Took the train, changed as instructed in the Forum, using escalators and lifts, only had to tote my bag and backpack down some steps at Sala Daeng to use the escalator in the Thania Building.
90 minutes after landing I was wheeling my suitcase. Into the Tarntawan and greeted by the desk staff, one of whom has been there since the Lukas era.  I had been assigned to my favorite room on the 5th floor.  It’s a two room set up and has many happy memories for me of good times and many boys.
I unpacked, put my important things in the safe. After washing up, I went to Prime Massage.  It was 5pm and I was told I could reserve for 6pm.  OK...I used the time to check for neighborhood changes. There is a hotel complex being created in the space between the Tarntawan and the apartment building across from Prime.  Last year, I read the sign wrong and told DivineMadman it was an expansion of the hospital.  Wrong. No construction was visible.
Went to Soi 4 where the massage boys were out from both Adam and Nikrat.  Tempting. I located Banana Bar on 4 but saw it would be closed tonight due to the no alcohol holiday.  Tables were being set up at Telephone
I checked in with my workout shirt vendor who will pull some shirts in my size for me to pick up later.  Now to Patpong 2...things seem concentrated what with Screwboys and DreamBoiz on the street level, and Lucky Boys, Fresh Boys, Hot Male one flight up.  Could be tricky for members who are agility shy.
Back to Prime for a luxurious one hour foot massage, followed by a classic “it will feel better once the pain stops” Thai massage.  Just what I need as I’d been in planes for more than forty hours in the past ten days. Masseur was Yo and I’d like to have him for another pain session.
It was now 8:30 so I sought out some street food and went looking around. The Forum has a report that there were two new male bars on Patpong 1.  I found Banana and let the Mamasan pull me in with a severely discounted drink price of 200...remember no alcohol so $6 for a coke...interesting set up, with what looks to be a stage in a triangular shaped room.  6 boys, all twinks.  One other boy was the music master and energizer bunny.  Mamasan told me she had a room upstairs.  I enjoyed talking with her and about the month they had been open.  Could use more business.  It was too early for an off so I noted that the Udon Thani energizer was a future possibility.
As I left, I was grabbed by a tout, I thought he might be from the other new gay bar...he wasn’t and I didn’t take up[ his offer for a reduced rate for watching pole dancing.  I later learn the other new gay bar on Patpong 1 is right next door to Banana.
I decided it was time to head over to Patpong 2...Moonlight was closed for the holy day and so was Hot Male, which I learned after I’d climbed the stairs.  The grabber for Lucky Boys moved in before the Dream Bois grabber.  Up a flight of brightly lit stairs, entrance lobby is brightly lit and seems to be the location for the toilets/changing areas.  Let into the main room, who was there to greet me but Mamasan Lucy!  Quickly she ushered me to a table with a clear view of the stage and a drink order given (350 tonight as its no alcohol until midnight).  I immediately noticed no one was on the stage but  there are a lot of guys in the room all are still dressed and wearing numbers as are the waiters.  (Forum confirmation. = the waiters are offable).
There are some other customers, two of whom are female.  Lucy knows why I’m there, so I can’t pull any of Vinapu’s Mamasan brush offs.  We talk, she brings over a Cambodian boy, 23 years old.  I buy him a drink, we talk - we have nothing in common.  There is an announcement of some sort and all the boys stand up and move to the changing areas.  At 9pm, the boys, other than the waiters, move into performance wear, or lack of.
Lots of smiles to me, I’m one of the few possible customers at this hour on a holy day, so I don’t put it down to my innate charm.  About 30 boys take to stage with at least a dozen waiting for stage space to open up.  I should note that it’s a really impressive space and well designed.  But, I digress.
Lucy’s chosen returns in his boxers and knowing he isn’t going to be my choice, tells me about some of the boys on stage as I indicate who looks attractive to me.  Guys range between twinks and lightly muscled guys. He suggests a couple of guys - he favors Cambodians (surprise).  Lucy checks in,  She brings over one of the boys I was interested in.  I give Mr. Cambodia 100 THB and thank him.  He gives me a kiss.  New guy is handsome, good tight musculature, and Vietnamese.  I ask about what he likes/is willing to do.  Note: he’s Vietnamese, so I’m pretty sure of the answer...to my surprise he is willing to do even less than most Vietnamese.  Another 100 and thank you for your time.  While my inquisition was taking place, many of the others boys swan by and blow kisses and some rub my back.
Lucy brings over #22.  Name is Hab.  24.  Cambodian.  Good English.  Says in English he does everything.  Lucy confirms.  I like his look and his answers, so I tell him to get dressed.  While he is dressing one of the waiters comes over and tells me that I will like Hab.  Waiter is from Cambodia!
Hab returns, I settle up.  Off fee is 400.  Short time agreed at 2000.
Note:  Lucky Boys has an accounting system.  Each successive slip in the check bin, increases the total charged.  So while there were multiple slips in the bin, only the most recent was the one for payment.
After, Lucy insists on giving me a goodbye kiss, Hab and I leave for the Tarntawan.   We pause at DreamBois for a look.  Really small, shirtless guy on stage.  Make a mental note to return.
Back in the room at the Tarntawan he was everything he promised and more.  Attentive, submissive, dominant, as needed or wished.  I finished before he did and his cumshot was enormous spraying him and me.  After a shower, we settled back for some in bed bonding. He left when it was time to catch his 3am visa run bus.  I recommend Hab...note if you ever off him, his erogenous zone is his left nipple.  I know, I know more information than is needed.
All in all, not a bad first day in Bangkok.  Actually, it was a great day.
Please excuse typos etc as I writing this on an ipad - which limits my ability to check things.

I had some friends from the USA who wanted to see Pattaya for a few days and I took them for a visit. It was not a gay bar visit as this was a straight couple from the USA. We stayed at the Royal Cliff Beach Hotel and it was great.  Beautiful view, great room, good breakfast, and good service. I didn’t book the room, so I don’t know the rate, but breakfast was 715 baht for extra guests.

We had one dinner at Natan’s in Jomtien. It was excellent. Beautiful restaurant, good food and tasted great. I had a crepe and it was very good and I had a good dessert.  The service was excellent and I was happy with the food.

We also had some good drinks at the Hilton Sky Bar. Beautiful view and 2 for 1 drinks for 340 baht. The sunset over Pattaya was beautiful from this place.

My favorite place was La Baquette Phratumnak Hill Jomtien. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was excellent. I ended up purchasing some extras for taking away.  I loved the atmosphere and food. I’ll visit this again each time I visit the city.
All in all, 2 nights and 1 full day and filled with activities. I loved the pool at the Royal Cliff and I loved staying there in the day after breakfast.

Reporting from the Tarntawan...arrived yesterday, little has changed...though there are numbers stuck on the chairs in the lobby dining area.
The mantra is that all the changes will be done within two months!  I had to check but this is Thailand...I haven’t seen the manager but if I do I’ll ask some questions about the scale of the changes and if the type of clients they hope to attract.
As to pricing comps, I stayed last November at the Bandara Suites which is closer to Babylon and Prince.  Pricing was similar to Tarntawan and The Raya...it has two pools and a decent hotel gym.

BL8gPt reacted to BiggusDikkus in Bangkok, Night I
It was 5:30 a.m. Tokyo time when my alarm went off but it was easy to climb out of bed. With purpose. I was leaving for Bangkok later that day and I still had to pack. It wasn't until 8:30 p.m. that I was able to check into my hotel. That's 10:30 Tokyo time. I was hungry and tired, not to mention sweaty, having had to walk and lug my suitcase for the last kilometer or so.
I did not go straight up to my room to shave, shower and get myself ready for a Friday night on Silom. “Or maybe on Patpong,” I thought to myself.  “Patpong is supposed to be getting busy with gay bars now that Soi Twilight has turned out the lights.” Before I could take a look around, I needed some calories. So I broke one of my Cardinal rules of traveling in Thailand — I ate dinner in the hotel's restaurant.
Side note: I was the only solo diner in the place but I was mostly doing the same thing everyone else in the restaurant was, using my phone to scroll through my social media accounts. Even couples fed their smartphone addictions rather than make conversation. So rather than feel lonely, I was part of the club.
I was also feeling my age. I didn't get up to my room, unpacked and showered until after 10. I was exhausted; there would be no Friday night out in Bangkok for me. All I could do was crawl in bed and let memories of my first trip to this megacity unspool in my head. That night I also broke a Cardinal rule. Was it really 23 years earlier? Must've been. Like tonight, it was a Friday, but when I arrived at my hotel much further into the night, I was exploding with energy. I just had to wash up, pull on a pair of designer jeans and a Calvin Klein T-shirt and find my way to the fabled Silom Soi 4, to Telephone, to Rome and so many other bars and clubs I had only read or heard about. Could I find the soi on my own? I probably could have squeezed my guide book, “The Men of Thailand,” into a pocket, but I wasn't going to embarrass myself. I wasn't going to look like a foolish tourist. And besides, how hard could it be? One alley over from Patpong, TMOT told me. And my hotel was a 10-minute walk down Surawong from Patpong. It would be easy.
So off I went. I would sate my hunger at a street food stall on Patpong. I was going to get the full Bangkok experience. Then, finally, I began making my way to Soi 4. As I recall now, I was almost at a jog. And maybe my haste was my problem. I ended up making some wrong turns. As everyone knows, there are two Patpongs, but I let this slip my mind. When I finally did turn into Soi 4, well, that's when I broke that Cardinal rule. Only I did not realize it until several long minutes later.
”Are you looking for the gay bars?” someone asked. How did he know? That's exactly what I had been trying to do for, what, 15 minutes? Was I on the wrong street? Again? How many wrong streets could there be? I had initially missed Soi 4 and not realized it until I saw a sign for Soi 2. Surely I didn't double back too far. At least I hadn't got all the way back to Patpong. And who is my interrogator? A gay basher? I don't think I would admit to a stranger back home that I was looking for “the gay bars,” but this is Bangkok, and TMOT, while perhaps failing to give more specific directions to Soi 4, did insist that gays are not harassed in Bangkok, that even taxi drivers wouldn't think twice if I told them to take me to “the gay bars.” So I could tell this guy the truth, whoever he is.
”Yes,” I managed to say. He smiled. He knew the answer. So at least “The Men of Thailand” was right about Thais not being prejudiced against gays. I felt braver. I could safely add to my one-word reply. “Do you know where Telephone is? Is this Soi 4?”
”Follow me,” I remember him saying. “I'll take you there.” So off we went, back out of the alley I was sure was Soi 4. Apparently I had been wrong again. When we got to Silom, we turned right. We walked past the nicknack stalls of the night market. We walked by the first Patpong soi that I had missed earlier in the night. We passed the next Patpong street. Is that really a Christian bookstore on the corner? Odd place for a Christian bookstore. And aren't we going in the wrong direction? Or maybe that was my mistake all along. I was supposed to take a right at the end of Patpong, not a left. Wow, that would have saved me a lot of time. I could already be in Telephone, flirting with a cute local. Or maybe Rome. I really want to go to Rome. I've heard so much about it. The best gay nightclub in Asia, they were calling it.
My new best friend then brought me out of my own thoughts.
”Where are you from?” he asked. I told him. “How many times have you been to Thailand?” “When did you arrive?” “How long are you staying?”
Hey wait a minute, I thought. How far are we going to walk? One alley over from Patpong, right? And this neighborhood doesn't really look like a nighttime entertainment district anymore. In fact, we seem to be passing a hospital. A Christian hospital. I didn't realize there was such a big Christian influence in Thailand.
My inner monologue is often over active. It also has the ability to make the exact same sound as a needle being dragged across a vinyl record when it's about to change topics.
“Who is this guy I'm with?” I finally thought. I didn't actually ask that question out loud but I could see a little anxiety in his face as he noted my own.
”Just a little bit more,” he assured me as we turned right onto I don't know what street — a street that did not have nearly as many Friday night revelers on it as the street where I had met ...
Who? Who the hell is this guy? And then it hit me. “Oh, no!” my inner monologue screamed. “I broke the TMOT Cardinal rule — ‘DON'T GO WITH TOUTS!’”
”Obviously we're not going to Soi 4,” I managed to say with a snarl. “Where are we going?”
”A gay bar,” the tout answered. “Trust me. You'll like it.”
He was practiced. He recognized that I was about to turn back, so he turned into a desperate conversationalist, keeping me stupidly talking to him as we continued turning corners and walking down poorly lit streets until we were there ...
Under a sign that read, Galaxy Boys. We walked up to the second floor and into a very dark, very uncrowded bar that had at least a dozen go-go dancers. All young, maybe late teens, early 20s. All with perfectly lean but beautifully defined bodies. All with smooth, bronze skin. All with long, lithe legs. All with supple calf muscles that took shape much higher toward the knee than I had ever seen before. All dressed in nothing but bikini bottoms. And those smiles!
The walls appeared to be black, and there was little light, only dim beams that lit the boys on the stage. The ones in the shadows were pulling out their little soldiers and rubbing them until they stood at attention. The achievement of a full erection would bring a broad smile and a glance my way.
The tout was right, I kind of did like this place. In fact, I was entranced. There's something to say for sleazy bars. Especially when no one sees you walking into one. I ordered a beer and sat back while the tout walked toward the entrance where he engaged the manager, at least I think she was the manager, in an animated conversation.
More of the dancers smiled my way. I smiled back, unsure what else to do.
You can probably guess the next several events. The manager and tout would return. The manager would insist one of the boys come down and sit with me. He put his hand on my thigh, and one of my hands on his thigh. His skin was warm, smooth, a little damp. I found myself in the same conversation I had been in minutes earlier with the tout. The go-go dancer took my hand and placed it further up his thigh, so that my pinky was rubbing his cock. He giggled when my head turned, betraying my startlement.
”I like you,” he said without pronouncing the k. I stared into his eyes, and as I searched for the proper response — Was there one? — he began to kiss me. It wasn't a peck, but a full, lips locked, open-mouthed, gentle jaw movement kiss that my tongue remembers well to this day.
”I like you, too,” I said, pronouncing the k and figuring I might as well state the obvious. “I'm also hard as a rock.”
I don't think he understood that but the tout and manager seemed to know that the time to pounce was right and they were back at my sofa with a 2,200-baht bill.
    ”For one beer?” I sneered.
”No for boy off too. And must pay boy another 2,000 baht at hotel.”
Apparently it had already been decided that I was taking the best kiss I had ever had back to my hotel. But I balked. I was on my way to Soi 4, remember.
I never made it to my intended destination that night. I left Galaxy Boys and returned to my hotel as it had been ordained for me.
    ...
I'm not sure what will come next, a report on Night II of my most recent trip to Bangkok, or me reminiscing about that first trip 23 years ago.

Actually, this is a preliminary notice prior to a report.
I leave tomorrow for a 2 weeks in Thailand, I'll stop in Hong Kong on Friday and get to Swampy mid-day Saturday.
I'll be in Bangkok for 8 days and then six days in Pattaya, staying in Jomtien.
Any forum members who might want to meet up send me a PM. I've been in touch with two members and we have hazy tentative plans about meeting.
Today, began with a bit of controlled horror - I woke to a buzzing on my wrist as my watch replayed a text from my bank saying there had been an unauthorized charge.  After the call and agreement that I'd not authorized a charge in Cyprus, my card was cancelled with a new one being sent.  Pain in the... as this is my principal card for purchases.  But there are other cards so I'm substituting.  Then I visited the dentist to have repairs made to two teeth.  Back at home, a call from my credit union telling me they had a charge from Cyprus!  This is the card I use at ATMs when I travel as it has no fees.  Ugh...this is not my day and it's only 11am.  The credit union is a ten minute walk from where I live and I head there as the notice I'd received was automated, and wanted too too many codes and waiting times on hold to accomplish anything.  At the office, the manager said hello and how could he help.  I told him, and he helped.  In a few minutes, I had a new ATM card and withdrew cash to change at the rail station at BKK.
I'm looking forward to a rest from dealing with effects of Cypriots getting my card information and a respite from seeming constant traveling: Mid-April I flew to China, then back to the Bay Area, then on to the UK.  From where I returned yesterday to attend two meetings.  Tomorrow off to Thailand via HK.
I'm looking forward to inspecting and evaluating and enjoying the revitalized entertainment zone(s) and having some massages.  Sorry to be missing PaulSF and DivineMadman who have lef to rest up for their next sojourns in Thailand.
Not sure if I report from the scene or when I return in June...but I swear to the spirit of Vinapu that I will report.
PS:   Some good news...United Airlines just called to tell me I'd been upgraded for the flight to Hong Kong.

I have been grateful to learn so much from the reviews of others over the years. Now I have just returned from my most recent visit to Bangkok, I thought I would share my experiences with everyone.
It is certainly a time of change around the gogo bar scene in Bangkok just at the moment. I will include my observations of some of the new bars, alongside the old.
    Day 1
Flight arrived at 7pm. Quickly through fast-track immigration and bags rapidly available. Traffic into the city was terrible. This might be usual on a Friday night or possibly because of the celebrations for the Kings coronation over the weekend. Settled into hotel in Silom close to the scene. Tired, but feel like a beer and a quick look round the bars to get settled in.  First visit to Lucky Boys. Arrive as the show is drawing to a close with big cock show boys walking around the crowd seeking tips for a quick feel.  A big barn of a place and it is packed. Lots of staff around who find me a seat. Good layout, with a mix of booth style seating for groups and other individual or small seating areas. Lots of boys. Mostly twinks.  Place empties fast at the end of the show.  Not in the mood for an off, so finish drink and go back to hotel. Left with the impression that Lucky Boys has quickly established itself as the leading bar amongst the new group on Soi 1.  They have probably taken lots of business from the old Dreamboys. I wonder if they will be able to sustain this longer term?  Back to hotel and a lengthy sleep.
    Day 2
Late breakfast then a couple of hours at the hotel pool. Mid-afternoon decide to go for a massage. Keen to try 'Magic Touch by the Tree' based upon some very positive recent reviews.  Arrive around 3pm. Easy to find and nice venue - clean and nicely decorated. No choice of masseur as I hadn't booked in advance and I am allocated to the next masseur on their rotation system. No problem with this in principle if all the masseurs have the same skills. Take 90 mins scrub and oil massage. Huge disappointment. Whilst masseur was friendly and attractive, his massage skills were average to poor and not a sensuous experience at all.  He remained in his clothes throughout. Only towards the end did he offer me the 'special' service and suggested I'd like to tip him 2000Bht. Politely declined! He's going to have to work much harder for a tip anywhere near that size. So I leave unsatisfied, but with further opportunities ahead over the next week. I have no reason not to believe the earlier positive reviews of Magic Touch. I guess I was just unlucky in the selection of the masseur. But I'm not sure I'll go back, which is a pity given the convenient location close to my hotel.
In the evening I decide to try more of the new bars - Hotmale and then Freshboys. Both bars a decent size and familiar layouts to the previous bars - with main stage area and tiered seating around 3 sides. Good number of boys in both bars - again mostly twinks - and the shows were the usual range of acts including fucking shows at the end. Freshboys has a fun group of waiters who seem to be competing with the stage boys for drinks and possible offs (the waiters all have numbers) from customers. There was lots of amusing interactions going on with the waiters. I found the waiters more attractive than the stage boys. After the 12 Midnight show, I offed my favourite waiter - back to hotel together for a couple of hours of fun. It made up for the poor massage experience earlier.
Day 3 onwards to follow soon ...........

I was in Pattaya for 3 nights / 4 days late April (first time back in over 16 months after I swore I would not return) and found the change very obvious after some time away
    Boyztown
Toyboys - still same polite / good management but too many of the older Laos / Khmer boys still clinging on there, was steadily busy (a good bar still) but badly needs some new blood I felt, couple of the newer Khmer boys were very easy on the eye though
Cupidol - definitely the most fun bar & boys in Boyztown for me, only bar I offed a couple from but one of them I'd know already for 2 years, but fairly weak management
BoyzBoyzBoyz - walked inside, decided not to stop...boys in jeans and not a lot going on
Dreamboys - plenty of boys on stage but felt a lot more str8 than past years, less gay boys that my gaydar could discern...but had a fun couple of drinks in there and my off from Cupidol asked to go in to say hello to a Khmer pal
X-Boys - lord....still trotting out the old WWB style shows, poor mama who's known me for year assured me there were a couple of guys I would like so I nursed my G&T and grimly hung on thru the decades old candle wax shows etc...when said boys did appear I felt no stirrings in my boxer briefs and so politely departed after dispensing a few tips
    Jontien Complex
Only made it to here one night and had a couple of drinks in Sun bar with 3 guys I knew which was funny, seemed to be more people around that in BT but still very quiet on previous years...but that's low season.
Went to morlam one night and was still fun but so damn hot to be drinking beer outside in an open field
However I DID still have a fun 3 days there as met up with 2 Thai, 2 Khmers, 1 Laos & 1 Myanmar in the time (2 of those were bar offs)....but most of them were working other jobs now and I've know for a few years (catching up after time away is always pleasant)...there's still fun to be had just not as much in the bars these days.

    From Bangkok Post (10 May)
Private hospitals ordered to display medicine prices
Starting next week, private hospitals must display the prices of medicines so that consumers can make better-informed decisions prior to purchase, the government said on Friday.
As well, private hospitals must give patients the opportunity to buy medicines from pharmacies outside the hospital using prescriptions provided by their doctors.
Acting Commerce Minister Chutima Bunyapraphasara made the comment after chairing a meeting of the Central Committee on Prices of Goods and Services, which approved the proposals on Friday.
“Prices of medicines must be shown either on the hospital’s website or via QR codes on a chart displayed clearly at the hospital,” she said.

I've used the SR airport locations a few times in past and the rate rate was good. I only exchanged enough cash to get me through the first night. When I get off the flight, I'm exhausted and just want to get to the hotel. Not a good frame of mind to do a big exchange and then board a crowded train.
I try to follow the advice of ggobkk above: take whatever Thai notes I have left at trip's end home with me so I don't have to stop before getting train or taxi on my next arrival.

The bars don't get it for me anymore.  In pattaya, I visited bbb only once and once was enough.  I use to love going there but now with the guys in jeans, why bother?  They show more skin on the apps.
Bangkok, I went to tawan but not by choice.  Jupiter was charging 500 baht entry and as it turns out I didn't enter any of the gogo bars after tawan.  And the show at tawan...  It was like watching a veteran tuktuk driver have sex with his fat older cousin.

Finally, after walking past it a couple of times I remember the third hotel I had in mind when posting about those new options. It is called "Resort M BTS Chong Nonsi". It is directly next to the MahaNakon building, in the very small narrow soi bewtween immediately to the left of the MahaNakon,  between MahaNakon and The Infinity It's no more than 100m from the BTS station. VERY cheap indeed, less than 1000B. Though being very small it even have a small pool between the two wings (hence the name "resort" I suppose). Looks look modern and nice in the pics, though it seems some have no wondoew (not sure). This might be another great value option for esteemed hotel-hopper @vinapu

Nope, alive and kicking. Drove past the other day and made a point of looking, as I was also looking for the hostel there,  Minimis fromerly Thrive, sionce someone asked about that. That one is being demolished as part of the Twilight redevelopment, but not BBB.

true and annoying. A way around that is searching for a hotel in google maps rather than the regular google. The hotel description there will have address, phone number and other info, AND a link to the hotel's own website (if they have one, sometimes for some businesses it's a link to their facebook page, but same thing if that's all they have)

Note the difference in amenities: laundry SERVICE vs laundry FACILITIES. The former should be obvious what it is, the latter can be ambiguous.

I'm the exact opposite haha. NEVER eaten any of the snacks, but sometimes had a coke or something from the fridge when there was an urgent need. Always paid for that, though, never even occurred to me to replace it from outside lol.

Haha, I have actually taken remains of small bars of soap from hotels, which I do when staying at high end hotels and they have high quality soap rather than the cheapt shitty ones. And yes, I am entitled to those remains, as I already used it and it would otherwise land in the trash, wasted.
This reminds me of an annoying habit of a hotel in southern France I stay for about a week every year. They replace the soap bar after about a couple of days, when it's still like 95% intact (I only use bar soap to wash my hands, never to shower). Why they do that is a mystery to me and I find a competely unecessary waste. I do take the remains (if they leave me one towards the end of my stay) with me too, as it;s a nice olive oil soap.

I went there to look at their rooms a year or two ago, scouting hotels for a friend. The whole place (apart from the nice lobby area) looked dark and old and tired inside and I would NEVER consider staying there.

I have been in and out of Luckyboys like the proverbial dog with two dicks all weekend and it's a lot of fun.  Did look like approx 50-60 guys working there last night (will check again tonight) 3 of my regular Viets work there inc 2 brothers I know well and they both had offs last night.  I offed a very cute Viet and had a great time too.
But it is a very big gogo bar with I'd imagine a serious overhead so as Paul wisely says let's see how it all goes in a few months when the novelty factor and newness has worn off.  Boys are happy and excited at the mo and so are we...but a place like that needs a lot of footfall to sustain it.  Already guys are moving between Luckyboys and Freshboys 2 looking for the best option.

Restless and reckless Cinderella just before the midnight:
Having missed my very first experience at Screw boys last year, I decided to go back there last night. It was Jason who brought me there last year. Thank you again Jason and I still miss you.
It was a Saturday night, and the club was fully packed to its maximum capacity. I got there around 11 pm and the show seemed to have just started. The room was completely filled with the smoke, but I decided to sacrifice some of my respiratory tract … the show was indeed quite long to my taste, including many lady boy performances, and one hard core performance between two young lads. The mamasans there did not pressure me at all, left me alone, but available when in need. I especially liked the one with more manly look in specs. According to mamasan, there were quite a lot of Vietnamese guys at their club (maybe it has become universal).. I spent almost 90 minutes inside the club under the smoke.
After I got back to my hotel, my previous night boy from LuckyBoys messaged me and asked me if I wanted to meet. So, I went out again to Foodland, took out some food for him. and he came to Foodland, and we came back to my hotel room together.
He left my hotel around 5 am this morning...
I have seen many interesting characters and events on this trip. It's very eye opening to me. Looking forward to more.

Just to be clear - at Arena the minimum tip includes just what they say:  massage with masseur naked, HJ & showering together; however, the masseurs there are available for more, you just have to agree to pay them more.  For full services (sucking/fucking) the cost ends up being roughly the same as any of the other big shops.  It's like a no-frill airline.  If you want more pay.
For me, if I'm tired, bored, whatever - sometimes a simple HJ is the perfect end to the massage.  Other times, and depending on the guy involved, of course more acrobatic activities are involved.
Sometimes at a place like Prime where the normal rule is no hanky-panky so I'm not really expecting anything anyway, if the masseur says he wants to give me a HJ, I'll even politely decline.  (!). It's just how I feel and what I'm looking for from each experience.

I second  it, not two but twenty two times I tried Arena I left with smile . Not much ambiance but boys there have muscles , smiles ,no attitude and deliver, even mamasan Art seems to be nice and used to give good massage, I know, I tried.
I agree with DivineMadman, there's serious management problem at Prince with all that mishaps reported here recently. I wish them all the best but perhpas we should give  a chance to other places specially that Prince is not competing on price
