I don't know what the going rate in Thailand is but everything is in relation to its market rate. When I am in Barcelona I never pay over 100e simply because I can always get what I want under 100 but I am sure that is not the case for many cities in Western Europe.

I never manage to score fun at the souk. They are tightly lined up so hard to isolate a shop without being seen by other shop owners around. How do you manage to make it happen there? My understanding is that they will close the curtain only when they are not seen by other shop owners?

I hate hassles but it was not a hassle. It was very easy for me, except you cannot bring them to your hotel. Otherwise these guys close the deal relatively quickly. If you want less hassle you might try shoulder season where it is not packed with so many tourists keeping them busy.

Sweatbox was a bit underwhelming during my recent visit. It was Saturday night so I expected it to be packed or people lining up but that was not the case. It was a bit crowded but not like 400 people. There were very few hot guys, though it was very diverse. Also guys don't do actions as much as my recent experience in Lisbon. They were not hostile or anything, actually most guys are friendly in their manner but very limited actions. Also there is a very tiny area that is a maze or dark room but everyone can see who is going in and out and most attractive ones do not go into that area 😂
I am quite interested in checking out the other one but after my experience in sweatbox I am not that thrilled

In terms of hiring, I also tried Grindr and Google map.
I didn't mind finding some inexpensive massage with happy endings there so I simply Google gay message on Google map. A few pops up and some are obviously targeting us if you visit their website. Google reviews are better than hunqz reviews because you can check if the reviewers are authentic. I reached out two of the main ones you see in Google. Both of them quoted me an insane amount compared to 100e for sex service that I can easily find. I guess they build their google reputation and charge high for people do not want to spend time on the search. Either way, most of the massages are mediocre in my book but I have been spoiled a lot in Thailand with good massages. So I never took up their offers in Lisbon.

Beyond hiding Lisbon was a nice place to visit: very good food for relatively inexpensive prices so I enjoyed my time there.
Because I had some hiccups with my online hiring initially I decided to try out some saunas there. Let me summarize my recent trip. I had a long weekend trip to Lisbon and I was going to attend an event there with my friends so I did not have a lot of time to explore but I had a good grasp of the market. As usual in Europe, hunqz was the most reliable bet but I haven't hired from hunqz for some time. I know that some of the escorts can delete their reviews so I did not find those reviews very useful and that's why I moved away from hunqz. He was 180 + in height and had a very nice well-defined body, not too mascular, very balanced body huge thighs and legs so he was my type in terms of looks and body. He also had a very nice attitude when we messaged: very efficient communication easy to chat upfront about the rates and pictures. So I decided to hire immediately even though he didn't have any reviews. I went to his place and he looked like his at pictures, although a bit balding. I made sure that kissing was okay and everything, so when I arrived we made out and he started having trouble with erection, and of course, when guys have erection problems things get quite ugly. One interesting incident is that some Brazilians advertise with the same number and same rate but different profiles. Maybe they are staying together but I didn't quite understand what they are up to. There were two hot guys and one tranny using the same location and numbers. Two guys advertise it as 50e for 1h but as soon as you contact them they will increase their rate to 100e, which is still fine but it didn't sit well with me. Something was sketchy so I googled the number and some hunqz profiles came up and they didn't have any reviews either. So I didn't bother to explore more but they were not the nicest people with communicate with. Be careful about these guys. They are very obvious on the platform.
Overall, online hiring was a bit time consuming compared to sauna hires. I always had a very nice impression about Brazilians because they deliver and they are very passionate in sex and have nice looks but in Lisbon I realized that most of my positive impressions came from sauna hires. In Lisbon I ran into some difficult Brazilians when I tried to hire online but I realized that I had the same issue with the Brazilians in London as well. So I kinda paused and said wait, maybe I am so biased because of my sauna experience with them 😆
So this was my hiring but I will follow up with non hiring part.

because nobody replies there, even the ones who already started the thread and visited. At least I always follow up my trips and report back if I do the exploration. I am not a big fan of those guys who create a thread and never follow up after their travel and then show up somewhere else and ask for info but never provide what they find out. Havent been to Lisbon for a long time and thinking of heading there soon. I know Barcelona thermas might be the only reasonable place in Europe but any chance at Lisbon? Maybe some regular sauna goers might entertain the idea?

Barcelona hotels are very expensive these days. Barcelona is one of a few places on Earth I find using points can be very rewarding. So if you have some points at hotel chains explore that option as well

It is an interesting market for them. Usually the rates for them are higher than Asian ones and they can easily charge what they can charge in most European cities because they are the rare ones in Asia. But the cost of living is really a few times cheaper than European cities and the weather is usually nicer. Plus they can enjoy the white privilege in their daily life so the life quality is better and their profit margin is probably higher as well...

Thanks for the interesting story. It is exactly what I felt while I visited Luxor and Aswan. But I never managed to bring people to my hotel. Even at the Ritz. The main issue was that the bigger the hotel is, more luxurious, but some guys are really not dressed for those hotels and very visibly different. Smaller hotels have tight controls at the reception, which was the case for Aswan. Any hints?

Instead of creating a new thread, I will give some updates here, mostly about April and May visits to Madrid and Barcelona.
Madrid: the sauna that has boys for rent still exists but extremely slow. I think it was off the grand via and close to boyberry. I visited it on Sunday, there were two boys and two customers. One was young and on slim side with ok look, not my type. The other one was tall Spanish with belly. I didn't like him at all because he was old and out of shape. But he was kind and told me to go to a different sauna where I can get free sex. I thanked him and left. From some boys at Thermas visiting from Madrid I heard multiple times this Madrid sauna was bad and the manager is not good etc. Cannot comment on the manager but I won't visit this sauna again.
I went onto the local sites and I realized that the boy selections are not as overwhelming as Barcelona but made some inquiries and was surprised by the price range: most were 150e where in Barcelona I see most at 100e. It was not uncommon to get 200. Anyway one nice thing about Madrid is that you can do a day trip to Barcelona with the new fast trains. It lands in Sants, which is a short walk to Thermas. I didn't do it but I checked the schedule and price and I was surprised the prices were reasonable like 20euros round-trip...
Barcelona: boyberry was mentioned multiple times here so I wanted to check it out. Either way it is only 6e entrance fee and I went there in the afternoon on a weekday. I was surprised it was quite small and didn't have shower facility and people just roam around with clothes. I see they have nude days but I do not know how it works. The visitors are mostly older guys, some rare young guys but they seem to be into each other. I had around 10 guys at that time, maybe 2 are young. Rene, Venezuelan, really my type but his is big so I wanted to try him after someone smaller, but on Saturday I was really struggling to find one, which never happened before. Just had a quick trip to Rio, it has been a while since I went there, first time after the pandemic. Also, first time in May, all of my last visits were in Dec/Jan.
Visited new Meio Mundo on Monday, with little expectation. As I expected the guys were not really my type (muscled guys), a chill place. I think it is my first time here, although I did think about going there before.
Visited Point 202 on Wednesday, it was similar to my previous experiences there: the guys are not really my type, though I would definitely see some guys from 117 there on Wednesday. The main issue with 202 is that it can be very social, meaning the boys would socialize with the regulars and engage less with less frequent visitors, like tourists etc. Either way I managed to have fun with two 117 guys.
Visited 117 on multiple occasions. I felt like there were a lot less hot guys at 117 compared to my previous visits. Could be because it was May this time or it could be because pandemic changed it. In any case, I saw some guys arguing with the manager (pay desk) when they were leaving because of overcharge so I didn't feel like talking about it with the manager. Also, next day another guy was talking about Reyzinho at the reception but no idea what it was. I suspected it was about paying drinks for him because he bought a drink for him before leaving.
Another bad apple was a guy from Sao Paolo, he frequents the Lagao apparently, short and muscular, on the pale side of skin tone. He said he kisses with tongue but when we went to room, he just had a dry kiss and went around without kissing. No more kissing. Never had this sorta attitude at 117, but i was like whatever. Anyway, maybe these two bad cases along with less guys I really liked, I didn't have the amazing experience I used to have there before. It is a lot less costly for me to go to Barcelona, which nowadays has a lot of good options, so if I include the travel cost, I ended up not really feeling like coming back to Rio. Maybe it will change but for now, i will stick to Europe for a while

I thought Wednesday was the client day, usually attracts more boys, maybe I forgot....
The boys there will charge you more for finishing, that's known, maybe you should talk about it before hiring. The rate is still 50 without Cumming. Did the Russian guy kiss?
