And I don't know why they are fully clothed or even wearing jeans.  I know of no rules that say they can't be in their briefs, as before.

I guess because the rules say night clubs, bars, karaoke etc are to remain closed.

If boys were to be seen in underwear it could hardly be classed as a “restaurant”.

Mind giving some details on how 'dreadful' it became?

The 1 a.m. wanking show was no more last time I visited. It used to be an excellent diversion on the way home!

when you consider that in price is included PRC test which is quite costly and deduct it form total price you paid  suddenly deals become much sweeter.

Not only that, but they have to provide transport to Pattaya which would cost you 1500 baht (£35) for an equivalent taxi!

  4. My reply on the other board:

QUOTE=Oliver2;284420]it seems odd to have been taking bookings  up to Wednesday and then making a decision today. What has changed in the past few days? Have I missed something? Has  the prognosis concerning Covid's spread changed?
    [/QUOTE]

My bet is that it has nothing to do with any variations of Covid.

About now most people will have booked their Xmas and New Year holidays. Eva would have looked at the figures and probably decided it was uneconomical to operate these flights.

Looking at recent figures published for flights and passenger arrivals at Savanabhumi it seems load factors are very low indeed.

Thai procrastination, plus their horrendous bureaucracy, has probably put many off going to Thailand.

They are going to learn to regret it.

  5. I have just completed my Thai Pass application. As a precaution I printed all documents to take with me anyway.

When  it came to downloading them it gave the option of taking a photo which I thought would be easier than the other options. So I photographed everything as I went through the form and Bingo, it accepted the lot. No problem about PDF’s!

At the end I hit submit and got an instant on screen acknowledgement.

Then literally in seconds I got my Thai Pass followed seconds later by another email saying it had been received and could take seven days!!

Obviously no humans are checking The applications. It must all be done automatically.

Some members over 74 reporting problem finding covid insurance. There's a US-based website offering policies from Thai insurer AXA up to age 99.

    https://www.squaremouth.com/

I put in for a quote as a 73 year old:

$610. That is approx 21500 baht. I bought an AXA policy for 7600 baht.

And this company does not cover cancellation costs for non US citizens.

For over 74 the price is the same.

Yes..... a day or night on a plane, arrival at BKK at an inconvenient time, a test, imprisoned in a designated hotel for the night, a wait for the result. And then travel to Pattaya or wherever. Too many days lost.

I would sincerely hope that one could go straight to Pattaya and get the test done there. Pattaya Hotels currently offer the ASQ so I would hope it’s not a problem.

Having to go to BKK for the test would mean arriving in Pattaya at least two days later than planned.

    From Bangkok Post

Tanee Sangrat, spokesman for the Foreign Affairs Ministry, said on Thursday a new web-based application called the Thailand Pass system, where people can gather information and upload documents, is being developed for the kingdom's Nov 1 reopening.

    Oh God Noooo...pleaseee.

There will also be more flights available and at better prices. At the moment (though this may change) EVA are only offering two LHR/BKK flights a month. Restructuring timetables, perhaps bringing back into use mothballed planes, will also take time.

If you are prepared take a flight with an intermediate stop there are plenty of good flights on offer. You do not have to go via the Middle East either! Swiss is a very good example.

Daily Direct London to Bangkok flights, as before , will not be seen for some time!

  10. If this is a “tourism fee” then I assume those of us travelling to Thailand, who are not tourists, will be exempt?!

That would include businessmen, students, expats, people on non immigrant visas (retirees) etc etc. The list is endless.

There are in excess of 40 types of visas issued by Thailand.

Perhaps only those arriving with “tourist” visas will be charged!

Tourism Authority of Thailand plans to propose no-quarantine tourism under “One SOP One System” scheme for fully-vaccinated foreigners:

There is also no guarantee that every sector would be allowed to open, such as bars or entertainment, for the proposal.

If that is the case you can forget it.

How many people are going to travel thousands of miles for Christmas and the New Year only to find all entertainment closed???

still got the option to reschedule if necesary, so in worst type scenario can postpone it till February 2022

Not in my case. Being from the UK a trip to Thailand is for two purposes. First is for a holiday and second, and maybe more important, is to avoid the dreadful UK winter which runs from November until March.

So if Thailand is a non starter in November then I need somewhere else warm to go in November!

  13. Agree with z909.

The requirements are in fact much easier than last year as there is no “solitary” required. The main hurdle.

I have also read that visitors are allowed whilst in the Sandpit too...which does seem strange!

Anyway, the main requirement, as has been said many times, is that everything needs to be “ops normal” before most tourists will travel.
