Speaking of people who talk crap? Read above. If you get bored, read it again.

yes obviously a just should have been just a and I suppose the should have been your to be more clear and  some should have been someone - I don't think that makes the post crap, particularly compared to the usual standards of grammar and spelling here!

and when you get bored perhaps go back and re-read your posts on complex web sites, spam emails and login session issues and the feedback you have been receiving from your programmers and web host and if you have some friends or acquaintances with some real experience  in this area get them to advise if my comments on competence and your need for knowledge are reasonable or do constitute egregiously abusive conduct

His rank is intolerant crap shooter lol nice one. Gave me a chuckle.

yes I am not very tolerant of people who talk crap - particularly if they have an Iron Fist or just wish they had one to deal with people they think are "assholes" (not a nice term and one I am sure is not condoned by the posting guidelines but I am quoting Michael here) just because they don't agree with them

However, there is a difference between a forum software (pre-packaged) and a website build with an original code and blended with a prepackaged forum (Invision in this board). The symbiosis between the two often causes hiccups especially when one is updated.

I could explain a full database driven website and the complications to everyone but I have no desire to do this and it would not further the thread.

and I am sure if Gaybutton wanted such an explanation he could just ask the phpboard programmers who developed the software that runs his database driven website

Is there an option to stay logged in? Now each day I have to log in again, with the previous version that wasnt needed.

don't log out? make sure you have cookies (and maybe javascript) enabled for the new site name?

on first visit I went to the site (not forum) home page and logged in then went to the forum page and bookmarked that page and have not needed to login again when returning to the forum page

Another thing i miss from old forum and didnt seems to carry over is when we click on unread topics, which is still bolded, it doesnt goes straight to where we left it. But it stills indicate with a blue line, so i guess thats ok for now. Just like the old forum style that immedeately goes to the last read systen better

click on the dot next to the topic title rather than the title itself - if you hover the cursor over the dot it says "Go to first unread post"

  7. BKKGuy, it may be my age but this is unintelligible to me. What are you talking about?

I freely admit I am an old curmudgeon and I don't use social media, and I like to go to places because I like the food, the service, the ambiance and feel comfortable in the typical crowd

when I consider Sphinx was at its best none of the customers went there mainly to take pictures of their food or themselves and post them on Instagram and facebook - they went there because they liked Ray or even Jerry, or because they knew a lot of people that went there regularly or got on well with the staff

while the Sphinx name and original decor may have been a little twee the Fuck & Cock or whatever they are called now, and the "iconic" motorcycle on the wall and the Instagram/facebook crowd there to be seen consuming the new menu items and fancy cocktails try my patience - and my enjoyment of a meal there

I think there are - for me - many better options in Bangkok but I haven't been there for quite a while and perhaps the place and the typical customer have changed again, or as I said "your mileage may vary"

  8. That's interesting....The Sphinx was my first part-of-call on arrival in Bangkok  a decade or so back. How does F & C compare?  Is it worth a visit, in your view?

it depends on what you liked about Sphinx originally - I seriously lost interest after the first few management (and subsequent customer) changes and once the social media boffins and their followers who considered F & C a "better" Internet meme took over I just gave up altogether - your mileage may vary

  9. from the article "Hours before his death Luke posted a Facebook photo of himself with two pals in a Bangkok bar. He wrote: “Keeeeeemon. Boys on tour.”

so we have checked the facebook page for exactly which bar he and his friends visited  and exactly what "boys on tour" refers to, or are we to just get distressed every time the British gutter press - and this is The Sun after all - report something within a limited distance of a gay venue?

I'm sorry, but as much as I may have sympathy for the victim and his family and friends, I am not sure exactly how much I should be getting my knickers in a twist because of this "news"

  10. I cannot connect using Hotspot, that's the problem. Maybe a 4G dongle is the answer. The dtac shop at Terminal 21 did not have them, so they said. Maybe I should try AIS?

in your original post the "hotspot" was the wi-fi provided by the apartment? still? the "hotspot" I am suggesting you try is your mobile phone or a "pocket wi-fi" device or is this a problem as well?

any iSomething store around town or the new Apple store at ICON Siam should have a "suitably priced" (suitably being a relative (higher) term) dongle, or AIS or true - or I would have assumed dtac - should have a "suitably priced" (suitably being a relative (lower) term) pocket wi-fi device, or maybe the telcos now assume everyone now does everything on their phone and your MacBook should be confined to an office or a museum?

admittedly it is 15 years or more since I last had a use a pocket wi-fi device in Thailand (but AIS still has then advertised for about 1,200 BHT + SIM), but less than a year since I added an additional one month only data package to my AIS package to use my phone as a hotspot for my notebook when I was in Pattaya for the weekend and the apartment wi-fi was down - most modern phones (even iPhones) and most data packages support the phone as a hotspot

  11. Something I have learned from more than one Thai acquaintance (independently of each other). If you order a main course in Sizzler, it iincludes the salad bar for free. You dine exclusively on the salad bar and ask the staff to package the main course for carry out (they will do this). You get 2 meals for the price of one.

personally I would recommend you start dining on the main course - if you have any taste you won't get very far so take the leftovers and the salad home and give to your neighbors/boyfriend to feed to their pigs. That way you get two merit points - you get to loose some weight and the pigs get nicely fattened up for market

  12. does your mobile phone have a hotspot option?

is your 4G reception in the apartment better than your wi-fi reception?

does your mobile phone plan include lots of cheap data and allow use of your phone as a hotspot?

if you answer yes to all questions your problem is solved at no extra cost and no need to get to a shopping center

if your phone and/or data plan does not support hotspot but your 4G reception is OK you could always buy a cheap "pocket wi-fi" device (to provide wi-fi to both your MacBook and phone) or just a 4G dongle for the MacBook, and you will need to get a separate SIM and data allowance for the new hardware - most of the local telcos and phone stores should have these available

  13. Also there is an underlying long term decline in the pound ... Although once something solid is fixed for Brexit, a modest recovery in the pound is likely

just goes to show the UK should be moving closer to the European ideal rather than turning its back on the EU

the Conférence générale des poids et mesures has just introduced a new standard for the kilo to address instability problems which should see it stable for centuries - I'm sure if they where asked nicely they could do something similar for the pound

  14. I think however he was expecting something traditionally high end. We felt somewhat overdressed

if your credit card can handle it and you are willing to go a little outside of Silom then try great French steaks and cocktails at Artur off Plernchit or go Thai at Baan Khanitar in Sathorn

  15. Are you familiar with the song sung by Alberta Hunter, "My Man...Is Such A Handy Man?" Seems it would be right up your, um... "alley."

maybe if you hum a few bars, but I'm willing to suck it and see with new things ...

  16. How do we make the Go Go bar more modern using technology

Of course we could do the same as supermarkets and do away with mamasans by having a self checkout .

lets leave such low-tech solutions in the supermarkets where they belong

if the bars and massage venues want to use tech to compete with where the apps are now and where they are heading then they should be getting rid of their dancers and masseurs and deploying advanced sex robots - even the models available now couldn't be that much worse than so many of the regular post here about app/bar offs that need to watch straight porn on their phone to keep it up while fucking them or offs/masseurs willing to do little more than wank but demanding full tip

and the tech is only going to get better

and of course you just swipe your debit/credit card down the butt-crack to pay for the encounter - except not with bitcoin which is obviously going to be dead in the water before the bars catch up here!

  17. I assume you are being sarcastic NIrish and/or have never hosted a web site but given web site hosting ranges from $10 on a shared server with minimal backup and out-of-hours support to $10,000+ on multiple redundant servers with guaranteed uptime of 99.9% with zero loss of data and 24/7 support, how much do you think it would be reasonable for Moses to dedicate to SGT in terms of financial, hardware and human resources to satisfy SGT site users' demands for acceptable downtime and loss of post data?

  18. the more likely Thailand magic would be the woman sitting next to you is actually a ladyboy who is in on the plot and at the last minute "she" would drag you off the baht bus and both of you would end up joining the group session which would of course be recorded and end up on an amateur porn site and while to action is going on "she" would find the time to steal your wallet ...

or should I be spending more time reading posts here than reading John Burdett and/or Pattaya Today?
