I never refuse anyone who comes off the stage but one guy I told him he was too frequently returning. Didn’t like his coy anyway,lol.
That guy has become annoying. Most still wait to be called down but he is pushing for tips all the time. If he was hot i wouldn't mind lol

Thanks for the update. I had a quick pre-trip look on Grindr and think the selection is very impressive compared with the previous trip, possibly due to increased use of phones ? Although, fake photos could be a factor.
What percentage did you think were money boys ?
I did not look at the apps much as like Pattaya many of the pics are beauty cammed and i rather see them in person. The guy i did approach on grindr had pics that looked realistic and he convinced me when chatting. The other guy i had a date and fun with was Chinese from Blued and no photo shopping or cost with him, just another tourist looking for fun.
I would say most in Phnom Penh were money boys or looking for some benefits. I have a guy in Pattaya who denies being a money boy but needed 3000 baht for his room recently

I have never heard that R bar would be japanese, is the owner from Japan?
I was told it is Japanese owned but not confirmed. Like the Chinese many Japanese are investing in Thailand.

A lad I’m friendly with, called me to the back of Nice Boys. He was eating and there was a big spread of different Thai
foods. He offered me some. I was very impressed that the Thai managers had food for the boys.
I noticed that too. They bring in multiple bowls of food and ocassionally some big bottles of beer for the guys. A happy worker is good for the customers.
A couple of the Nice Boys have moved to the Japanese bar near the Venue at Jomtiem Complex. The shirts off tactic by that bars management has attracted more customers when it was near empty most nights beforehand.

The same happens in Jomtien Complex on a regular basis except it is usually a bar boys birthday party with Thais singing the karaoke. The large speakers in the soi are not necessary but they don't care. A real killer for conversations and business in nearby bars.
I don't bother going go Boyztown bars anymore although i walk through sometimes. The band at Cafe Royale was practicing one night last week, very loud hip hop music, so maybe a hip hop version of My Way for customers enjoyment when they open

One of my Thai friends who at the time was a waiter in Soi 4 Bangkok was very upset one night and told me he must go to the army. After he finished his military service the handsome ex soldier told me he never had so much great sex and was so happy he had been in the Thai army.

I have just returned back to Pattaya from a 5 day visit to Phnom Penh. After arriving at the airport the process was fairly painless to get the tourist visa. Bangkok Air give out the visa forms and make sure you have a 6 x 4 passport size photo and $US30 cash. I will try another airline next time. Bangkok Air are expensive and you are bussed to the plane waiting 10 minutes away at the terminal at Bangkok. The boutique lounge is ok each way but nothing special. I heard Chinese airline JC Air are good for price and service and also fly from my preferred Suvarnabhumi airport to Phnom Penh. They might be worth a try next time i fly to Cambodia.
Just outside the terminal at Phnom Penh it was easy to get a sim card and i used a $US5 cellcard which gives you 3GB for 7 days service. I then avoided the pushy taxi guys outside and took the short walk out of the terminal to the hotel across the road and used the Grab app to order a taxi, about $US7 to my hotel. On the return trip I took one of the new tuk tuks which are also available on Grab app and cost $US5 including a tip plus any Cambodia money that I had left over. The tuk tuk was cooler and faster through the traffic than the air con car I took previously from the airport when I arrived.
I stayed at the Highland Hotel which is very close to the Toolbox Bar but never again. Tour groups use the hotel so it can be noisy and overall a fairly average place to stay. I learned my lesson, better hotels from here on in and no tour group hotels.
I heard from friends in Pattaya that the Toolbox bar was very good so that was my first bar stop in Phnom Penh. Doug the owner of Toolbox has spent plenty of time in Thailand and has implemented his own ideas on how a successful bar should be run to make it entertaining and enjoyable for the customers. What Doug has done with Toolbox bar works well and certainly was a lot of fun for myself and from my observations also for the other customers. The staff were very friendly, there was no begging for drinks and no mobile phones in sight on the 5 nights that I attended the bar. Most of the guys do have smart phones now compared to a few years back when they all had the old basic Nokias.
I did buy quite a few drinks at Toolbox and enjoyed chatting with the staff, most are studying English language so the conversation was quite good. When the guys had a drink they stayed with me instead of running off to chat with their friends or check grindr and facebook which happens quite often in the Thai bars.
At around 10pm and every 15 minutes till after midnight there was a very energetic dance routine by three or four very hot guys. Not a lip syncing ladyboy in sight and the guys really seemed to enjoy performing. The dancers mix with the customers or play some pool after the shows and were happy to chat, especially if you bought then a drink. I liked the high energy dancing and the breaks in between the shows were a good chance for a chat with the dancers and other staff and customers. I did not get free drinks or anything else to say good things about this bar, I had a good time there and this is my opinion. I am fairly bored with the rarely changing formula for entertainment or lack of entertainment used in most Pattaya bars, Nice Boys being one exception, so it was refreshing to see the shows and good attitude of the staff at Toolbox bar.
I think whether the staff are offable at Toolbox depends on how you connect with them but they are all gay. There are twinks, a couple of more lean muscle and average build guys. The off fee is $US10. There was a freelancer who was also on Grindr and hanging out with his friends at the bar and pool table with his shirt off and I did meet him in my hotel for $US20 the day after.
I walked past the Blue Chilli bar a few times but the staff looked mostly average build which is not my preference and I am over the ladyboy shows they have at 11pm some nights. From reviews online it is not strictly gay there anymore and there will probably be straight tourists including girls in there to watch the shows. Another customer at Toolbox on Saturday night had been at POC and Space bars earlier and did not have anything too complimentary to say about them. He did mention that if you like larger or more muscle build guys then those bars might appeal.
Heart of Darkness nightclub used to be the place to be after the gay bars had closed but that has become a backpacker haven and the music was extremely loud hip hop when I attended. I had memories of good music and many gay guys dancing and available there late at night from my previous trips to Phnom Penh but that seems to be history now. The gay guys prefer to go to Blueline club which plays Khymer music (Morlum style in Thailand) and is packed with customers every night.
There are masseurs advertising their services on Grindr and work at shops near the Riverside. Oil massage was $US10 for one hour and the happy ending which I usually refuse but because he was very good at doing so I let him continue and paid an extra $US10. He wanted me to go back the next day and fuck him but I had a very hot guy from Grindr in my room at that time. I gave him $US25 which included $US5 for the taxi. As far as the apps go there are many fake photos and you need to be careful to ask exactly what they will do and how much before making appointments. I only took one guy from grindr after seeing many photos and his assurance they were real. He would have been sent away if he was deceiving me but when he appeared he was very good looking and excellent sex, a very horny bottom.
There are many Chinese and other Asians visiting Phnom Penh, I went to the Naga World casino and I was the only non - Asian in both of the buildings amongst hundreds of people. I did hook up with a slim 26yo Chinese from the Blued app on a stopover to Siem Reap. He was a lot of fun and as usual with Chinese tourists that I meet in various countries there was no cost except for one drink which he had also offered to pay for.
There is not much to do in Phnom Penh in the day time if you have been there before and already visited the tourist sights. I took trips to the Aeon 1 and 2 shopping malls. Aeon 2 is larger and newer and built on a reclaimed lake and it is worth a trip just to see the development going on in Phnom Penh. There are hotels and condo buildings going up all over the city. I did notice some cruising happening in the toilet at Aeon 1 but there was always a cleaning lady hovering so I did not bother. For the more adventurous it might be ok but I would rather meet someone in the security of my hotel room. I might take some friends with me next time to Cambodia so we can go bowling or do some other activities together in the daytime.
I would not be interested to live in Cambodia. I went to the local market on Saturday and the lack of hygiene there was very evident. At least in Thailand they usually try and keep the flies away from the meat and fish. It is still a very poor country compared to Thailand which means there are many desperate people looking to make some cash. Security is also an issue with one street vendor warning me to keep my phone away from the street as someone might try to grab it while passing by on a motorcycle. In my opinion the facilities for foreigners are much better in Thailand. I did find most Cambodian people that I met to be very charming, especially the waiters and dancers at Toolbox bar and it was a good experience visiting Phnom Penh again for a change of scenery and bars.

I'm planning to go to Phuket in early December for a few days. I'm staying in Karon, which I know is miles from the bar area, but I'll probably take a taxi (expensive, I know) to the Paradise Complex one night (or more if I have fun). My question is: as a portly older gentleman (read: fat old faggot), will I feel unwelcome in the bars? I'm not looking for love, but I might be looking for company. I'll be spending the rest of my trip in Pattaya and I know what to expect there. But I haven't been to Phuket in 30 years and I read suggestions that it features a "younger crowd." Would that apply to customers in the boy bars? Or is it more important, as in Pattaya, that my bahts are ageless?
If you was the Hunchback of Notre Dame you could wave a 1000 baht in the air as you walk around the gay bars and you would have many admirers who will give you true love, or a good st sex at least

Anyone ever used the services of the African guys on Bangkok Grindr?
Occasionally some black African guys are available in Pattaya on grindr for 2-3K by their random messages. Not my style, they hangout with their female hooker friends in rooms near Tukcom.

They allow a lady go go bar on Thappraya road down just down towards the beach from Jomtiem Complex. Maybe if someone provides incentive to the right people then the by laws could be changed and Jomtiem Complex could have a go go bar.

I think the off fee's and 2000 baht for the boy is getting out of hand..too much in my eyes...for the visitor..ok,,have money in the budget..but for residents...this is getting expensive for them to enjoy as much as they would like to..
I am resident in Pattaya and 1000 ST is accepted from go go and host bars. I don't go to Bangkok much or BBB bar in Pattaya where the big tips are expected. I never have paid 1500 ST but have given extra for taxi, food etc. Regulars from the apps in Pattaya are 700 to 800 baht ST and some of them work in go go bars. Most guys are not greedy and happy to have a regular customer. If you are here on a short vacation spend whatever you like and enjoy.

In the Sunee area, 1000 B should do it.
The state of Sunee at present you could buy 1 get 1 free for 1000 baht.

It should be called Scam-dic.They catch many people, especially Asian tourists thinking it is a normal priced massage place. They get charged 1500 baht, usually up front and then a big tip is expected if they want extras or not.

thanks for that info. any particular places in Vietnam that are better than others? I'd imagine the big cities have the most going on. Since I've already been north and central I figured HCMC would be worth checking out. But I've seen conflicting reports about the place...too much traffic, hard to get around, etc
I have visited Vietnam six times in the last few years touring in all the major cities from Hanoi to HCM. Using the apps i met guys in every city and some have become very good friends. Most were not money boys but plenty are available. I like Twinks and no problems meeting them in Vietnam. Hanoi and HCM were the easiest places to meet guys but i had some nice surprises in Dalat, Nha Trang and DaNang.

American tourists can just as easily go to Sydney or Melbourne where they will instantly find many hundreds of cute Asians on the apps most of whom just want to meet up and have no interest in pay for play.
Don't rush to Australia looking for sex unless you are under 35, at the most 40 yo and handsome or have the resources to pay big dollars for money boys. Most Asians living here, visiting or in Australia for study are looking for younger guys themselves. When i was younger myself it was no problem to find a "cute" Asian in Australia but now it is must easier to travel and find a date free or for pay in Asia, especially Thailand.
I agree with you about the bars pricing themselves out of the market and even if they all close then we will still have the Hornet and Grindr go go bar which is open 24 hours each day on the apps in Thailand. Like vinapu i prefer to see the guys in the flesh especially in fun bars like Nice Boys or Winner Boys in Sunee where the drinks are still fairly priced.

Currently two things have occured that may affect your ability to rent a condo for a short period in Pattaya. First a Thai court has ruled against what is known as airbnb also a new law has been enacted stpulating that a rental property that is let out for less than 30 days requires a "hotel license".
My condo management at Pratunmak is ignoring the rules. There are signs about the new laws but there are plenty of airbnbs being rented to the detriment of other tenants. Two Russian sluts were fighting in the hallway and their room again today at 600 am and for the next hour after they probably returned from walking street. I will be moving when my lease expires to a place with no short term rentals, if i can find one that is.
Friends who stay in the View Talays 2 and 5 seem to like them and there were short term rooms available when i last checked. View talay 2B is well managed, quiet and has good security.

It does seems long time are harder to come by nowadays. I wonder why. Does most boys have day jobs now that its getting harder to depends only on one income?
Hanging out with their friends late at night drinking at the bars, clubs and karaoke are top of most money boys priority list. The money comes and goes quickly so extra cash from long times probably will only appeal to a minority in Pattaya where the guys have many options to be out having fun all night.

The guy working at the shop last night would look great wearing the sexy underwear on display. I suggested that he should go around the bars selling them instead of those flowers and watches that are always being offered. At least the underwear is useful and the bar boys and others love them as a gift. He wasn't interested but i saw a guy at Jomtiem Complex sell dozens of sexy underwear at 100 baht each a while back.The shop near Boyztown will sell 10 underwear for 1000 baht.

Will certainly make the effort to check out the bar during my visit next month which includes a short stay in Jomtien, at The Venue hotel for the first time as East Suites, my usual lodgings, are fully booked for my dates.
