ChristianPFC got a reaction from AsianExplorer in African guys in Bangkok
I almost got a boy from Senegal in Bangkok, it was just a matter of price, he wanted 1500 and I offered 1000.

The boy from Madagascar in Pattaya was worth the 1000.

I'm currently in Chengdu and was searching for gay venues in English on bing and in Chinese on baidu. Few results. I went to MC bar and sauna and a local told me they closed two years ago. I went to Tata bar and there is now a different business, which was not open Friday night around 9. How to find gay venues?
Gay online dating similar. I scrolled down on blued a bit, and when I reached 610 km distance, there is a message "There are no more guys, please check it later." Is there an international version of blued which I am using, and a local one they are using?

I had a very roughly similar experience on Grindr much closer to home - in Hong Kong. One morning I was clicked on several times by a guy who did not look especially enticing but I was horny. I was in a medium-priced hotel in the centre of the city and he said it would only take him 20 minutes to get there. I let my dick make the decision and said I'd wait for him in the hotel lobby. 40 minutes later he had still not arrived. I called him and he said he was almost there. In fact it took almost an hour. As I told him I just wanted to cancel the meet up, he suddenly appeared.
He was not particularly good looking and i suppose I should just have given him US$20 and told him to bugger off. I had made sure all my valuables and money were in the hotel room safe apart from US$20 which I kept in a back pocket of my jeans. I wanted to find out if that disappeared as I was having a shower (not large enough for 2 people!) The sex was routine, quick and boring. What later became clear was that he had also been taking photos. He also stole the $20 from my jeans. He then said he wanted $100 more. I told him I had none. He refused to move. So I said I would call security which I did. As he was being escorted to the lift, I became aware of his phone and asked to see his photos. I did not care one jot if the security guard saw them. I am sure he knew exactly what had been going on.
Sure enough, there were several photos on the phone, although thankfully none of my face. I insisted they be deleted. The security guard then took the phone and deleted them himself. I tipped the guard and the guy finally disappeared. The odd thing is that this jerk still clicks on me when I return to Hong Kong. I tell him he's been reported to the police, but of course I did not and could not do that. If anyone plans a trip to Hong Kong and wants his photo, I am happy to send it by pm.

I'm a little hesitant to share this experience because I'm not in the mood for the critics who will tell me everything I should have done. But I'm sharing it because it was scary, and I want people to be careful and hopefully learn from my mistake.
I'm in Philadelphia for two weeks, and of course, I've been looking for ways to have fun. When I lived here in the 80s there were no shortages of places to have fun. Now, most of those places are gone. So of course, I was looking on Grindr.
I was not having much luck, until yesterday, when a guy I'd seen, but thought was out of my league contacted me. It has happened before, so I didn't think it was too good to be true, but I should have.
He said he had an 11 inch dick. He sent an album with lots of photos that looked legit. He told me he was DL and asked how he'd meet me.
I'm staying in an Airbnb in a condo building. There is an elevator code to come up to my floor. At least I had the sense not to give him the code. I told him I'd meet him in front of the building.
When he arrived, I went down and he was waiting outside. He looked like the photos he sent. He followed me to the elevator and we came up, chatting along the way. He seemed like a nice guy. He said he was visiting from Cincinatti, he was DL and had a girlfriend. I saw no reason not to believe any of this.
Once inside, I offered him some water (I don't have much in the condo) and we sat and chatted a bit.
He asked to use the bathroom and was in the bathroom for a while. When he came out, he said he thought I'd be naked. I am not proud of my body at this stage of my life, so I only took off my shirt and kept my underwear on. I was planning on just sucking him off.
He looked at the mirror in the bedroom and said he wanted to do it in front of the mirror. I told him there was a bigger mirror in the living room, so we went out there and he stood while I got on my knees and started to suck.
His dick was not very big, but I've seen others that start out small and grow a lot, but he was not growing. He was not getting hard. I also saw him holding his phone and now I realize he was recording me in the mirror.
We came back to the bedroom and he sat in a chair while I tried to suck him. He still was not getting hard. He said he had to use the bathroom again. I was beginning to realize this was not going to work out and trying to think of a way to get out of it. I thought I was going to tell him the maintenance man called while he was in the bathroom and needed to come up. I wish I'd tried that. I didn't realize things would turn to the worst.
So he came out of the bathroom and I tried sucking him a little more until finally telling him I didn't think it was going to work out.
He said, "So you wasted my time." I got that feeling in my stomach that told me I was in trouble
So he asked me how much I was going to give him. I said we'd never discussed money. He said, "You didn't read my profile?" and started to become agitated. He showed me a profile that said in all caps - THISBIGBLACKDICKCOST560DOLLARS - that was definitely not the profile I saw. I opened Grindr on my phone and he had blocked me, so our messages were not visible.
I had put on my clothes and tried steering him out of the bedroom because that's where my money was. I told him my money was in a safe deposit box on the first floor. I figured if I got him out of the apartment, I had a chance.
We got to the door but he wouldn't leave, so I called 911.
He grabbed my phone and threatened to beat me up. I tried calling for help, but I'm sure if anyone heard, they would not come out to help me.
Finally, I said my money is in a safe deposit box on the first floor. There were lockers on the first floor for people who check out but have later flights. I pretended that's where my money was.
We went down the elevator. Halfway down another guy got on. I should have asked him to help me, but I didn't. He was bigger than the guy from Grindr. Of course, he probably wouldn't have been able to help, but in a situation like this, you think of all of the "should haves".
When we got to the first floor, we walked over to the lockers. I tried to get him to give me my phone but he wouldn't. So I went to the front desk and asked the clerk if he could help.
This guy then started this crazy story saying I posed as a female and lured him over and then made him let me suck his cock. He had a video. I tried to explain my side, but the clerk said, "I don't need to hear all of this". I asked him to call the police and he did.
The guy then left and yelled "don't follow me". I needed my phone. As you know, everything is on our phones these days. So I did follow him. He was yelling at me and then finally threw my phone into the street. I ran after it and got it. It was completely destroyed.
I'm lucky I got out that situation without being injured or hurt in any way. I'm done with Grindr, and will probably just look at porn from now on. I feel like my age has put me in a high risk category for any type of cruising.
I got a new phone and tried logging into Grindr because I wanted to post a warning. My account was banned. So this guy probably filed a false report about me. I wrote to Grindr, called and left a message and so far they have not responded. So this criminal is out there, potentially targeting other men, and I can't do anything. I don't know if it would do any good to report it to the police or if it will be a humiliating experience, but I feel like I need to do something. So, I'm sharing this experience with you, in the hopes that someone will read it and think twice before hooking up with someone who seems too good to be true.
It was definitely a wake-up call for me.

China rightly gets a bad rap on this and other forums for a number of issues - mainly poitical and human rights. But as one who has visited the country dozens of times, may I just add that it has some extraordinary sights for inbound tourists. And I don't just mean in the main cities of Beijing and Shanghai - although a visit to the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven and the Great Wall are as memorable as any anywhere.
For those who might consider China, I would definitely suggest they try to visit Harbin in the far north east during the spectacular month-long Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival in January/February. I know there is one in Sapporo in Japan, but frankly it is not a patch on the one in Harbin. Here there are two parks: the ice park involving dozens of mega-ice scuptures which are lit from within at night (and so a daytime and nighttime visit are essential); the other the snow park where smaller but also some huge snow scultures can be viewed. Near the snow park is the famous Siberian Tiger Sanctuary.

Harbin itself is a fascinating city. After the Russian Revolution, many white Russians fled to Harbin thanks to the trans Siberian Railway and a spur down to Harbin. For a while it was more Russian than Chinese. In its centre there is a now decommissioned Russian Cathedral and all major streets are named in Chinese, English and Russian. Russian restaurants abound - and there is also a gay bar! The one problem during the Festival is hotel accommodation. I was lucky in that even though I booked at relatively short notice I got a room at the Hoiiday Inn which was in an ideal location. The parks and the Sanctuary are on the other side of the frozen river, but there are virtually no hotels there. So you need to take a tour or one of the plentiful taxis which will wait for your return after your visit. With evening temperatures in the region of -25 celsius, the last thing you want is to be stuck with no transport!

Another area hugely worth visiting is Yunnan Province in the south west not far from Tibet. Getting from Bangkok is relatively easy as there are flights from Bangkok to the capital Kunming. Keeping this travelogue simple, I will mention only two of its many towns and other attractions - the old cty of Lijiang and the amazing Ganden Sumsteling monastery which is reputed to be the finest Tibetan monastery outside Lhasa. The city close to the monastery has been renamed Shangri-La - but it is just another Chinese city and the main reason for visiting is the stunning road between Lijiang and Shangri La and various monasteries. I stayed in a lodge just behind the monastery. Watching the sun set over the golden rooftops while sipping ginger tea on my little patio was quite magnificent.

ChristianPFC reacted to Gaybutton in Seeking Must-Have Line App Contacts for My First Trip to Bangkok!
What I do is first find boys that interest me on the apps.  If the chat goes well and I am still interested, I ask if he has LINE.  Almost all of them do.  Then I ask for his LINE ID and I give him mine.
If it is a boy I've met personally, such as a bar boy or someone I  simply met by chance, we trade LINE IDs right then and there.
Something I've never figured out is I get many boys I've neither met nor ever heard of who add me to their own LINE, and the app says they added me by phone number.  I have no idea how they got my phone number, but there it is.  If it is someone who interests me, I go ahead and add him.  I can always block him later if need be.  If the person does not interest me, I don't add him and I don't chat with him.
Be prepared to handle the pleas for money.  I don't get many of those, but I do get them.  I usually won't give them any money because one thing I've learned the hard way, living in Thailand, is if you give the boy money once, now the pleas for money never stop.  Sometimes I'll come up with some excuse and sometimes I'll just say "Sorry - NO."  The boy usually tries to argue about it, but that does him no good.  Not with me, anyway.
The two most common pleas I get are "I not have money for eat" and "I not have money for pay for room"  In all the years I've lived here I have never seen a boy starve to death and I have never seen a boy lose his room.
If I do give money, it is only to a boy I really like and have known long enough to know he is telling me the truth.
Bottom line is be very careful about who is getting your LINE ID.

I feed my boys before we go to my room. That way they fed, deprived of chance of asking to go earlier because they are hungry ( some still try though ) and we have chance to talk and smile at each other.

With only a few more days left in Bangkok, I thought it might be interesting to a few to pen a few notes.  Please forgive that they are unstructured.  I hope to understand more from the distinguished posters here present for my next trip or perhaps my last few days here. For context, this is my fourth trip to Bangkok.  My first two trips were for weekends and my second was for a week so I do not try to compete with the experience on this forum.  I cannot commit to a daily report but I am visiting some other countries in South East Asia during my time away and I will try to do the same while travelling.

Before flying from London Heathrow, I jumped at the chance to spend a few days with friends in Oxford as I would be in the UK anyway.  I can highly recommend the ‘Oxford Tube’ as a means of transport, which actually a bus!  It took me from central London, where I had stayed for two nights of tourism to the beautiful city of Oxford in an hour and a half.  Returning from Oxford to Heathrow required a change at Hillingdon station and one more bus for the princely sum of less than 2GBP.  Grindr in Oxford was full of handsome, university types and it was interesting to see many described themselves as ‘trans’, ‘non-binary’ or ‘queer’ despite presenting as a masculine.  Grindr in London was very busy and it was pan-European in nature, despite Brexit!  For those interested, I gathered that the going rate was about 150-200GBP though I did not partake.

Eva Air direct to Suvarnabhumi on their business class product was efficient, friendly and comfortable.  The food was good, the wine flowed and the flight landed right on time after a good night of sleep.  Arrivals was very busy, there was a 10 minute wait at the fast track section but the bags were quick - so quick in fact that most people had not made it through security.

I’ve been staying at Le Méridien, and it is good.  I like the evening pizza menu and breakfast is very good.  I’m not sure there has been much benefit to my suite upgrade, I have barely used the lounge and the men I have brought back to the room have on more than one occasion have been confused about why one person would need so much space (I think even regarding it as an unnecessary extravagance).  No problem with guests, key cards required for the lift, friendly staff.  Lots of gay folk, as I type from the ground floor I am looking at a middle aged guy European couple walking together wearing rainbow pins and holding hands.  Last time I stayed at Raya but I would choose here next time and save a few THB in a standard room.  The lounge is very nice and if I have time I will post a picture from the lounge, which I think may be a fair challenge for the ‘best view from a toilet’ posts previously seen on this forum.

I am ambitious to become a flâneur (I cannot think of an English equivalent) in my later life and there is no better city than Bangkok to practice.  I’ve enjoyed (most of the time) my solitude, thoughts, my wandering, my coffee, my aimlessness and people-watching.  Today, for example, consider Soi 4.  At around noon, a large gathering of very smartly-dressed business types in designer suits queued for street food.  Interested, I wandered down the Soi to see about four carts in front of Banana Bar and other venues in the Soi.  It seemed to the most popular place for these hi-so workers for miles.  I wonder if these distinguished folk know the depravity that takes place just a few short hours after they have gathered their tasty morsels?  I imagine they know all-too-well and care little - and this is why I love Bangkok! I enjoy these aimless considerations.

I felt something was ‘off’ about Tawan compared to my previous visits (when this was my favourite bar).  I have since read that the papasan in the beret, that I have before met, has recently passed away sadly and this is probably why. Much lenience is required, I suspect he was well-loved by staff. I have not stayed for a show but when visiting earlier in the evening the men working are less likely to sit alongside customers than in my previous visits.  Some older Thai men take the place of papasan but do not occupy the attention of customers. The place is looking more dishevelled than before.  That has, though, always been part of its charm.  I have a fond (?) memory of walking up the stairs from the bar to a room for a massage (if I assure you that it was virtuous, you will not believe me).  A large rat ran over my foot, leading to my loud screams and a look of horror at my exclamation from the masseur.  Happy memories.

I have not found a guy to take home yet from Tawan as their huddle of men now includes a number of twinks, which are not my type.  I did have an interesting moment with a man who I think said his name was David.  He was my type and I was leaving the bar, having concluded after one drink that enough was enough.  He chased me down the road, threw his arms around me and told me he was horny.  My intention, of course, was to take a man to the room to discuss neoclassicalism’s influence on 18th century Greek literature so this admission of horny-ness took me rather by surprise.  I declined the offer, wrongly now I think about it, as I was in the mindset of marching to HotMale determinedly.  I will try Tawan again and hope that this is a temporary situation caused by the loss of a formidable figure.

HotMale beer bar is still a good spot with fairly priced drinks, smiling staff and good views.  I was surprised to see cannabis being smoked at the tables (only by one group of customers on one day).  There is a very handsome man who seems to stay behind the bar there, preparing drinks rather than waiting tables.  I have been trying hard to have eye contact with him, succeeding often, but receiving a nonchalant response.  Perhaps my portly (read: fat) build is off-putting or the stars just do not align.  I will not give up yet.  Advice welcome.

HotMale’s gogo has been the surprise of my trip, in a good way.  The men on stage are keen to smile and engage with eye contact, are engrossed in securing your attention and not on their phones.  Though they are thin in number, there is something for everyone and especially for me (preferring 25-45, handsome, not thin, Dadbod or muscular-but-not-too-muscular types).  Smoking being allowed will be an irritant for some, but the papasan is flexible about reseating (and it has never been busy enough for this to be a problem).

The HotMale ensemble are mostly topless and wearing fetching, pillar-box red sweatpants.  The show is awkward when it is quiet but ends well with an explicit fanfare that even would make my old Aunt Agatha blush (and she a woman with a remarkable, audacious character).  I had one strange experience with a guy I offed from HotMale when motivated by the aforementioned explicit display.  His girth, so to speak, was impressive from a distance.  Back in the hotel, just as we made progress with a particularly challenging logarithmic identity, I became distracted.  Something about this girth was not quite right.  It wasn’t that there were beads or noticeable defects, but the thickness seemed somehow artificial and not in keeping with the rest of the member concerned.  He was a good egg, and no harm was done.  He showed me his Lao passport which revealed both that he was aged 29 but also that he was considerably more handsome now than when the picture was taken a number of years ago!

FreshBoys has the same loud and irritating mamasan and her interest in me has been only for the purpose of generating tips.  The men are young, I would say 20-25, predisposed to mobile-phone addiction at all times when not on the stage though smiles are frequent.  I am unlikely to revisit but this place will be a gem for some.

The new Sol Bar is interesting and I have no conclusions.  From a distance (that is to say the HotMale beer bar) the men look handsome on the balcony, are mostly topless and I really like the shorts with numbers on rather than the usual badges.  Inside, I had a different experience on my one visit.  In some way, the lighting is not flattering and the building looks more downtrodden than when it was Dream Boys.  Somehow, I have not yet been able to bring myself to have more than one drink but my reason is not rational and based on some ‘feeling’.  I will try again.

I have not yet made it to the Dream Boy show but will before I leave and update.  I cannot be motivated to go to Jupiter or Moonlight but I must do so because the men are hot and I have seen good reports recently.  My struggle is the passive, unsmiling approach I previously saw when visiting.  Also, I feel the men are hoping a woman will ‘off’ them, there being so many and the men being straight, and I will therefore be a disappointment.  Advice welcome.

I would also like advice on the language barrier.  I am almost ready to ask the mama/papasans which men speak English well.  I think this relates to another problem.  My ‘offs’ have been gratifying, but short with little room for conversation.  Yesterday, I had to use Google Translate ask the guy if he wanted a drink from the minibar.  My ‘offs’ last half an hour usually and I am craving more (they are probably enjoying the easy cash!). Though I don’t want LT, I cannot sleep unless alone.

On my first visit a few years ago, I think I got lucky and saw the same man three or four times (now sadly ‘gone’ as per the report of the papasan) and we went for a few drinks before our deliberations on counterurbanisation in the room began.  I enjoyed his company and sense of fun.  This has not happened naturally for me yet. I would like company than extends beyond 30 minutes in the room talking through a phone. Advice welcome.

Although I have adjusted to the jetlag, I do also have a dilemma about adjusting to how late everything happens.  I am trying to dine around 2030, as things just don’t begin here until about 2230.  I cannot do a 2am finish and a breakfast that finishes at 10am!  I need more to be occupied with between 1700-2200 and cannot drink alcohol during this time as I will be drunk by midnight!

I will post again and await thoughts and advice eagerly.

I’ve had this shop on my short list since I first posted about it and I finally checked it out today. Pleased to give it a 👍.
Located directly below the Bang Pho Station on the Blue line (you were right, TMax), it’s the last stop before train crosses the river. Travel time from Silom about 35 minutes. LINE ID: 365theriver
Reservations are recommended. They currently have 16 photos to choose from and that’s how I booked my session. In addition to choosing the masseur and time desired in advance, you have the option of selecting a “B2B” type of massage (minimum tip 1,000, without B2B 500). I selected one hour aroma oil (600) and the B2B. I was quite satisfied with my choices.
This is a small shop but we’ll maintained and I found it very clean. Rooms on second and third floors with easily negotiable stairs. Rooms have standard massage table with shower down the hall.
The service is professional and friendly and my masseur, a 27-year-old Thai, was well trained. Although he spoke no English, we had no problems communicating (when I pointed to him and then the table, he knew immediately that I wanted to trade places).
I was given a bottle of water on arrival. After the massage, my guy brought in a small tray with some good warm tea, apple slices and a small wrapped chorale snack. I don’t know if this is standard practice or because it was my first visit but it left a good impression.
This is the third shop (out of three) that I’ve traveled some distance to reach and none have disappointed.

Was it 10 years ago? Longer? There was certainly a time when the internet had a considerable number of gay websites focusing primarily on Thailand. Many were informative, some more political in content, some just bitch boards - some providing both interest and amusement.
This Board now has a much wider geographical range, but still with quite a number of separate threads on Thailand and others on Asia. To my knowledge there are only two left concentrating on Thailand - sawatdee network and gaybuttonthai. Sawatdee has gone through several incarnations over the years but now seems also to be slipping out of most readers' daily posting. In the last 14 days, it has had no posts for 8 of them. During October there were 16 days with no posts. Yet it is certainly read for, as I write at 11:00 am on Sunday, there are 35 members online and 218 guests. That's considerably more than this site which has 8 members and 200 guests at the same time! Gaybuttonthai is much more concentrated on Pattaya and has far fewer registered members. Now there are 2 online, yet still 121 guests. 11:00 am on a Sunday morning may not be the idea time for checking websites, but there is clearly a readership for all three sites. The key question, I guess, is how likely is it they will all last?
Some years ago on his own website, the poster @ChristianPFC compiled a list of 'dead' sites. Among these were gaylilfeinthailand, gaytingtong, gaysexthailand, cruisinggaythailand, gaytouri, baht-stop and bahtstop. Many were very short-lived. Others did not last after their owners died. Since then, yet others seem to continue as websites but often with very little new content. cruisingforsex-asia has been around for many years but its last post was made in May this year. That was a response to a question about Nature Boys raised on 6 November 2009! After 3 years with no activity during covid, activity has slowly picked up - but slow is the operative word! Only a handful of posts in 2023.
I raise this merely to ask for how long this and the other two sites can keep operating, the more so with advertising revenues minimal or even non-existent?
I wonder if the same is true to a certain extent of gay internet sites, especially those related to gay travel. In theory they should be mushrooming. Are they? Rather like the maps on the free gay magazines that were common in most gay venues in Thailand 10-20 years ago, I guess the problem is how you keep information up to date. Quite a few years ago I remember virtually trashing one such site which clearly had just made-up its supposed travel information about Thailand. The site died soon after.
A couple of years or so ago I wrote to the owner of utopia-asia to ask why he did not include arguably the two most popular saunas in Asia in his listings - Hutong in Hong Kong and Soi13in in Taipei. He wrote back that neither had replied to questions he had sent! They are still excluded! Frankly, that is ridiculous! Every other website lists these saunas. It really makes me question what other gay venues utopia-asia deliberately omits because they pissed off the owner.
gaytravel.com has been running for more than 20 years. Yet of its travel destinations, the only one in Asia is Phuket! Click on Phuket and it's just one long advertisement for the Sri Panwa luxury hotel! Total waste of time!
At least nomadicboys.com has both Thailand and Taiwan as its Asian destinations. The suggestions for both cities are pretty much up to date with a few notable omissions. Worst in both are its hotel recomendations. The top two in Bangkok are the W Hotel and the Mandarin-Oriental! Soon after come the So-Sofitel, the Banyan Tree, Le Meridien, the Peninsula and the St. Regis. To be fair, it also lists the Tarntawan. But why such a cluster of just expensive hotels? I
In Taipei it places the Chinese-styled Grand Hotel at the top of its list. Why, considering it is so far from the gay areas and not close to public transport? Beats me. Advertising cash, I expect!

thegaypassport.com seems to have upped its game since I last looked 2 or 3 years ago. It at least has better information on a few saunas, but yet again its hotels are almost all top of the range. Since it offers diferent prices from agoda, expedia and hotels.com, I doubt if they get a commission, but could be wrong. Why such expensive hotels are listed when there are plenty of middle and lower priced hotels as members here have noted, again beats me!
I expect servers here in Thailand only get a few of the total number of travel sites. Does anyone actually use them, I sometimes wonder? Are there better ones?

I mute chats whose new messages I don't want to see in notifications. Open chat, three vertical bars at right upper corner, mute.
Those pictures of available boys can safe a lot of time. For some places, there is none whom I would like, others several. Before, I would have to go in person to find out.

I guess you mean that you meet someone in real life, and they you exchange Line ID to stay on contact on Line.
There are groups in Line where gay porn is posted, or rarely members post pictures of themselves. And gay saunas have Line groups where customers chat (in Thai). I have been following some of these groups and chatted up the one or other cute, but nothing more came out of it.
Gay massage places daily post pictures of who is available today. You can contact them and make a reservation for a particular masseur (I have never heard of sending money in advance to confirm your booking, anyway this is not my style, I only do spontaneous walk-in, based on pictures of masseurs who work there).

I would be vary. In my experience, even though they are locals, they don't know the places I'm interested in. And now, after years of experience, I can organize a trip cheaper and faster than relying on local contacts.

I have been to Korat several times. Some temples in town, more temples and mountains a bit away (would need car, difficult or impractical by public transport). With car and driver, I could spend weeks in Korat province. No gay nightlife that I know of. Few western tourists.
The train is a good idea, you can see construction sites of tunnels and elevated track for the high-speed train, very entertaining for me.
Khao Yai, unless you go to some specific temples or rocks or cliffs, was pretty boring for me. Just mountainous forest (I have no interest in the various wildlife that you can watch there).

Google translate works okay, but I find it cumbersome and wouldn't want to rely on it. And in Vietnam and Cambodia and Myanmar (in Thailand I speak Thai), I get around without google translate.
