This wild enthusiasm does not coincide with my observations on my December/January trip with one exception. One writer refers to the number of customers at the Tawan with only 2 seats vacant. On each of my 3 visits the place was packed. What he does not say is the very, very limited number of older, overweight tattooed and with no disrespect tragic looking “boys” on offer. I don’t know what the large number of customers were expecting but it was nothing remotely like the number and standard of boys in years gone by.

Your correct, this new scene was not in place when you were there in December/January.  

Twilight just closed up entirely on April 30.    The Bars and gogo’s started moving into new venues in Patpong  and Soi 4  April 1.  Most finished moving by April 15, Hot Male the last to move yesterday.     Now all newer, larger and twice as many boys working.   

Many of the hotter guys that worked at Tawan have moved on to Jupiter and Moonlight.    Newer, more modern and more pay, 

You say, in years gone by, Soon Twilight will be know with stories of years gone by, but for now a new generation of places have opened and for now are doing very well.

I certainly hope your right. One question. You don’t mention Dreamboys. With the exception of one stunning looking guy there in December (he disappeared after about a week) that too was a tragic reflection of its former self. Nothing would please me more than Dreamboys reincarnated to what it once was.

I’m not a fan of Dreamboys so haven’t been for a month or so.   Lots of changes for them.   They are in the process of refurbishing a new Patpong location.  Supposed to be large.  Most of the current staff is supposed to be back.  If you want things to be like they were 10 years ago, that’s not going to happen.    A good time can be had, but some will always be disappointed.

Perhaps you don't know me. But, let me tell you, the boys were hot and sexy and many different choices. If one could not find a boy that suits them in one of the three bars that were reviewed, they do not need to visit any bar ever.

This statement is simply incorrect.  The are not doing that well and fewer boys on offer. My statement does not include Moonlight because I have never been there and not Jupiter because I have not been there in several years.

Well, your experience has not been mine. I visited the new area three times in the last 2 weeks and every time the bars had plenty of customers and tons of boys. Not sure what your definition of doing well is, but they meet that qualification for me.

Please do. It is even low season now but I really did like the places more than Soi Twilight. Perhaps more of my type. But, the guys are great and sexy and the bars were all crowed as the night went on. IMHO it was just as good as before although not as many bars right next to each other. I actually prefer the new bars more but no place for sitting and drinking and watching guys walk by (think Dicks) but I am sure someone will put one in soon.

Kjun, did you go to the new Patpong locations?   It’s true the Twilight locations were about finished in April as they were getting ready for moves.   The locations in Patpong have been drawing much bigger crowds than expected.  I’m sure some is the novelty of seeing the new places.  They are all bigger and have twice  as many boys.  LuckyBoys is very large and was turning people away during a Songkran week.    But even when I was there Wednesday night, 50 boys on stage. And 3/4 full.   Screwboys full every night.    I’m sure it will quiet down a bit as the summer low season drags on, but for now, things are good.    Lot depends on time you are there. Crowds do appear to be arriving more in the 10pm range now.

The new locations are nice, I've just been there. It's low season now but the popular bars still fill up towards the end of the night.

All the places I went to last night were 350 for a drink except Moonlight which is 450. The bars were good and sexy guys in each one.  Moonlight has a more muscle boy look than previously when Jupiter but the good were cute if you like that. I still like Screwboys, Funny Boys and Lucky Boys. Tons of variety and sexy guys.

If I could drive downtown Palm Springs, or even go by tuk-tuk, and see a Jupiter show for all of $15, including drink, I wouldn't hesitate!

Thank you lucky! I've been absent for months - just lurking because my January trip was so bad to Jomtien that I thought I would never be back, I was kidding myself. Even if Bangkok is a habit, it is a habit of thirty years. You make the honest point I have always made - It is hard and very expensive to get entertainment like this in the US. When I started my Bangkok habit there were, in fact, only a few bars like Twilight and My Way, Barbiery, Tawan, Golden Cock and a few long closed. The venues available are already around the same as my first trip. These reports are very encouraging.

Wow!  Thanks for the update on Twilight.  I haven't been on this forum for a while (longer than I thought now that I see some of these messages!).  I was in Bangkok last fall and had a great time, as usual.  I want to go back soon but it looks like it will be at least late January or February before I can return.  Twilight was so convenient but it's good to hear that there are still options around, even if they are a little more spread out.

BUT also realise, be aware that a cluster of such saunaś, including this one, charges discriminating much higher entry to anyone >40 or 50, up to 2000 THB. Its at least R3, saunamania, Macho (in Thonburi side, near PATA) and the odd more. However, they also seem to offer on a weekly rotation a sensational real sexy guy show with hands on etc.

I have seen none asking for that in Bangkok. Maybe 1500 baht? When I meet those from outside Thailand, the most they have asked is 5000 baht which is less than 200 USD.

BTW: I went out to 4 bars last night and cute guys in each one. Luckyboys and Screwboys had the most of my taste. The apps were also hopping last night. Being Xmas, I like seeing all the bars having decorations and outfits to match. Gay Bangkok and Gay Thailand is amazing and should not be counted out because Soi Twilight closed. It is still VERY much alive and well!

Looks to be an overnight rate and for a visitor. I don't know of any locals that charge that. But, traveling companions can charge what they like and see if someone bites.

The rates here are about 2000 for short time and 3000 baht for overnight and that is pretty consistent in the local bars and clubs. The guys from the apps may be more or less. The guys from Moonlight more as they have good PR. But, I don't know of many locals that will be 1500 USD for an hour or an overnight.
