I had an unusual itinerary where I flew Air Asia to Bangkok from Kuala Lumpur. Air Asia uses Don Muang airport. I seldom have reason to go through Don Muang - must have been at least 10 - 12 years since I last did, coming in from Chiang Mai. At that time, there was no easy rail connection to get downtown from Don Muang. But now there is the Red Line connecting the airport to the spanking new Krungthep Apiwat central rail hub. The last time I was in Thailand, the drink prices in the bars were hitting over 400 baht per if tip is included in the transaction. Also the tips for the guys was on the rise as well. Then came COVID. Bringing with it desperate please for money flooding messaging apps and mailboxes. Hi all. I'm going to be in Thailand for New Year's and would like to watch some really good fireworks, ideally from my hotel balcony. My first preference would be to watch the fireworks that take place at IconSiam, however all the hotels in the immediate vicinity around the river are unsurprisingly charging an insane amount for that night. Do you happen to know of any decently priced hotels in the area that have a decent view? Alternatively, other places in Bangkok or even the rest of Thailand that have good fireworks shows?
