The Fine Arts Department has also assigned Group Captain Ek-avudh Ngernchuklin to lead a team of veteran chiefs of the department to build a cremation pyre in Sanam Luang. Culture Minister Khunying Khaisri Sri-aroon and senior officials yesterday inspected three chariots named Phra Maha Pichai Ratcharot, Wechayan Ratcharot and Ratcharot Noi. I will be returning from Thailand to USA on 6 January. I have a layover in Taipei from 18:30 to 08:20 the next morning. Any thoughts on what I can do and with whom? I tried contacting a few cute yng Taiwanese on Gay Romeo but they don't seem to be like Thai boys, most in their 20s there don't want any contact from anyone over 32. I would like to see the city as I have never been and I am always open to meeting cute asian gay boys. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance Khun Bill

(Bangkok) A Buddhist temple in central Thailand that serves as a refuge for people dying of AIDS opened a free clinic Friday to dispense anti-retroviral drugs that slow the advance of the disease, the project's organizers said. Since 1992, thousands of Thais in the final stages of AIDS have travelled to Wat Phrabatnampo in Lopburi, 110 kilometres north of Bangkok, to live out their last days. The new project _ the Wat Phrabatnampo-Centre of Hope _ will provide support and treatment to relatively healthy people with AIDS, according to a statement by the temple's Dramaraksa Foundation, the Lopburi provincial government and the California-based AIDS Healthcare Foundation. …

Hey Oz I think this one is for you. I am currently planning to visit Thailand sometime after the first of the year. Right now I intend to fly from L.A. directly to Bangkok and then go immediately to Pattaya for four nights at the Ambiance Hotel. I will then go to Bangkok for seven nights at the Tarntawan Place Hotel. I will finish my trip by returning to Pattaya for three nights also at the Ambiance and go directly from there to the airport for my return flight. I will be traveling with an escort from here and hope to return to the hotel each evening with a different Thai guy. I hope to be an absolute whore. I find bodybuilders a turn on so I guess I will be spendi…

Looks like I will just miss the Iron Penis Festival... http://wikitravel.org/upload/shared//7/72/...stival_2007.JPG Kawasaki's best-known event is the Kanamara Matsuri ( 金まら祭り ), also known as the Iron Penis Festival, held yearly in early April — check with the Tokyo TIC for exact dates. Penis-laden temple floats (o-mikoshi) are paraded down the streets of Kawasaki and everybody gets sloshed. The festival has been to some extent hijacked by foreign tourists and Tokyo's transvestite ("new half") community, who often make up half the audience, but as you can imagine the people running the show aren't terribly uptight and nobody seems to mind. http://wikitravel.org/en/Kaw…

USA Visa for Indonesian National I have a friend who desires to come to the USA for a vacation. He believes that it is very difficult to obtain a visa to come here. I am sure that he may be right but I am sure there is a way this can be done. Have you or do you know of any Indonesian National who have gotten a tourist visa for the USA? Going back and forth to Bali can be taxing for me since it causes me to be out of the office for several weeks at a time. It would be great for him to come here. All suggestions welcomed.

The following appears in THE NATION: _____ Gay Philippine Police Told Not to Camp It Up Manila - Philippine police were on the defensive Friday after gay cops were warned they could be sacked for swinging their hips or engaging in flamboyant behaviour. "The Philippine national police does not have a policy that discriminates against gays and lesbians. In short, all its policies are issued for everybody regardless of sex or creed," police spokesman chief superintendent Samuel Pagdilao said. But he warned that "being a uniformed service, there are rules of conduct that apply to everybody for which violations may result in administrative charges for …

Anyone have advice about hiring (or otherwise hooking up) in Tokyo? There seem to be at least two agencies: http://www.arons-rod.com/top.php http://www.kocnet.jp/ I've experienced the ups, downs and sideways of how gaijin are treated in Japan, but never before had opportunity to go adventuring. So any guidance, experiences, observations appreciated.

In Pattaya, they are really cracking down on bars and Farangs. You are required by law to carry your passport everywhere in Thailand. It has not been enforced for years. Last week several foreigners were taken to police department as they did not have a copy with them. Many bars have been raided for underage and illegal workers. They also do drug testing on many of the boys. It seems that the recent crackdowns have a bit to do with a new police chief and a bit to do with 2 Russian ladies being killed on Jomptien Beach. While I welcome the legal crackdown, I do hate to have to take my passport everywhere I go. I always took a copy of it and most will say this is OK…

On my way home from my next trip to Thailand I will have an overnight at Tokyo. I assume others of you have experience with this scenario. My Thai flight arrives at NRT around 3:45 PM and my flight home to Washington isn't until 11-ish the next morning. I have never been to Japan. Does it make any sense to go into the city and spend the night there and then head back to the airport in the morning? Or should I just stay in the vicinity of the airport? I know it takes at least an hour or so to get into the city from the airport but it seems like it would be a shame to be that close to Tokyo and not get to see it. It will be late November though so I suppose it will be much …

There was a thread here about the bombings and it was deleted. I apologize for that as I hit the wrong button. I had posted about the bombings and said that I thought tourism was down and this may negatively effect tourism. Icon posted that actually tourism was up 20 percent. I was trying to post that when I was there, the streets of Pattaya were not as full as the same time last year. Also, I didn't see the same numbers in the gay bars in Bangkok or the hotels I stay at. When I was in Thailand, I had no problem with reservations for friends during high season this year. I had problems the year before. Perhaps their are just more families going to Thailand and le…

This article was copied and pasted from Fridae.com November 1, 2006 sydney store closes toilets due to ''rampant homosexual activity'' By Sylvia Tan The major Australian broadsheet, which broke the news, is being criticised for using homophobic language such as "rampant homosexual activity," "horrified users," portraying gay men as predatory and linking gay men with paedophiles. Fridae speaks to two Sydneysiders about the issue. The Sydney Morning Herald (SMH), a major Australian broadsheet newspaper, has reported on Monday that Myer, a popular retailer in downtown Sydney has closed its level one toilet to the public "due to rampant homosexual a…
