The last two holidays I have stayed at the Zing for a number of days. 
Good clean, basic hotel with a nice pool. Guest friendly and ideal for 'boy shopping'!

Well I've never noticed an owner there but it seems he's providing a valuable service. A place for some gays to work (and sleep?) also.
Or maybe some are renting a room somewhere. Or both. 
The cocktails are a plus also.

In a few weeks I'm off to Pattaya on my yearly 2 month trip 
I sat in my apartment here in farangland listening to a song I first heard in Pattaya 20 years ago called "Take me to the clouds above "
I first heard it in those Go Go bars in PattayaLand Soi 3 was it where wild west boys is .
Forget the names of the go go bars then , 
I just listened to that song   tonight and it brought back memories of Pattaya back in 2004
Times have changed and i looked over my old diaries to see I was going to Pattaya back then every 3 months for week long trips,  and according to my diary I was very excited weeks before 
Even taking sick leave from my work to go
Fast forward 20 years and I'm not that overly excited,
I could even put it off until later in the year if I wanted ,not that fussed actually 
I don't know if it's me changing ,maybe I'm getting old , or if it's Pattaya .
I do plan to retire there within the next 10 years 
The shine is still there but I miss a lot of the past ,and that's not a good thing because I like change 
In a way it's great not to be overly excited as I was 20 years ago , those days I was counting down , and it was antsy pants until departure day ,antsy antsy pants !
Now I don't care as much 
 

I sometimes watch old videos on Youtube. Hoping to find som new ones from the past, but usually no luck. A moment ago I stumbled across this one, I had seen it before, but how can it be that this still brings tears to my eyes? Many familiar faces, thai and falang. The bar where my beloved worked can be seen, but at this time already under another name. Happy that he is still with me today after 18 years.
 

A long standing fantasy of mine and a thread that surely screams for pictures!  

I had a 22 year old Madagascar boy in my bed twice during my recent two week stay in Pattaya. Sexy lithe brown body . Rock hard dick he used to top me. Contacted him on Grindr. 
He’s in Thailand on a student visa and told me that it would expire soon. His attendance at college courses was zero. Apparently there is a small group of Madagascar lads in Pattaya in the same position. He seemed nervous when I took him to my hotel (The Classroom) but was relieved when I conducted to my room via the side entrance. He was worried about presenting Id.
 

I just logged into Grindr Pattaya for my upcoming trip to see a few African familiar faces 
One notable was a guy JORDAN who think told me he was from Madagascar
Excellent service from this young African guy ,I'm surprised he doesn't work the bars but may make more working as a freelancer.

The decline in the Pattaya gay scene has been documented at length in these pages . So the question is whether it is an enjoyable place for gay men who enjoy the delights of Asian guys to visit for a short vacation or a long stay ?
i am nearly at the end of two week stay and have very much enjoyed my visit. The two hotels I have used have been excellent, particularly the Classroom, on the edge of BT, where I stayed for my first week, moving on only because I prefer a resort hotel with a swimming pool in which I like to take exercise. Pattaya is still fantastic value for money, in respect of hotels, meals and of course boys. I’ve enjoyed the unbroken sunshine which has done a lot for my morale after 4 months of the British gloomy wet winter. 
I have used Grindr to make contact and whilst it has faults It did deliver 4 separate boys, who by and large I enjoyed in my bed. One I kept for two nights and visited with him the gay Dongtan beach plus bars during the day in between. I also offed two (twinks) from The Complex and one from Winner. Another gorgeous guy I met on a Bart bus in transit to Jomtien when he jumped on a short distance from commencement and gave me his telephone number.

If I had more time I would certainly have made a side trip to Bangkok, and I expect to do that dusting my next visit later in the year.
 

The boys from Cambodia and Laos can converse in Thai because their native languages are similar to Thai. The Burmese lad was able to tell me he could not understand Thai as his language is completely different. His bar was 100% Burmese. 

Talking to another customer we both formed the impression that a proportion of the boys have only recently arrived to work in the bars and are rather unsophisticated as regards to gay sex and it can be difficult to establish their orientation. On my second visit to the Complex I offed a boy from Laos who could speak English and had worked bar 6 months and who was able to tell me he was versatile, which proved to be the case during a LT off (400 to the bar, boys tip 2000).

I’m glad I experienced Pattaya in the period 2002 to 2006, when I was young enough to take full advantage. Now in 2024 I have found Boyztown has only two functioning gogos and Sunee is like a Western ghost town. The busy Jomtien Complex on the other hand is like attending the United Nations with boys (many twinks) from all parts of Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, possibly Vietnam but I have not not come across one from there. Expertise using Google Translate is an important skill when trying to communicate especially as many seem to have only recently arrived in Thailand. Last night I could not make much progress when trying to talk to a Burmese boy as there does not seem to be an English - Burmese google facility, but maybe I didn’t look hard enough. Likewise the customers are drawn from virtually all parts of the first world (Europe, Australasia, USA/Canada) and many appear to be taking vacations from their retirement homes.
The Dongtan Beach gay section is flourishing despite reports of its death. I have enjoyed over several days  the confortable chairs, good food/drinks service,  and the wonderful weather. The few older ladies encroaching do not detract from the ambiance, but only one or two customers were accompanied by their young boyfriends.

I agree and it's hard to argue with your view but my point is , instead of dreaming about old days which probably won't return any time soon for many reasons or waiting for arrival of that ideal setting with dimmed lights and dozens of boys in skimpy underwear mingling with us  it better to put effort of getting as much fun as we can from what is available  now.
many of us would gladly drive Bentley but are content with clunky old Hyunday

Personally, I have never been to Myanmar because of the conflict. Now, it seems safer, and tourism has begun to boom. So I hope this master list can help you, and if anyone traveling to Myanmar, Please drop your trip report.

Entertaining but take with a pinch of salt as the pinkish colour of Thailand suggests around  one third of males are circumcised while, my research suggests a much lower proportion. 
I am willing to undertake more research and will be setting up a funding page to facilitate that.

The residents of Kampong Tralach Leu village – in Kampong Tralach commune and district – offer an authentic rural experience, mixed with a chance to admire Cambodia’s rich cultural heritage, with relaxing rides on traditional ox carts.
Guests not only get the pleasure of a slow-paced journey through tranquil green rice fields but are treated to the chance to explore a fascinating 300-year-old temple, just 5km from the village.
Many local people feared the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic would bring an end to the income opportunities their traditional mode of transport and their proximity to the Wat Po Rukkharam pagoda – with its beguiling paintings – have brought them since the ox cart association was established in 2007.
Now, they say they are welcoming more and more visitors, giving them not only the chance to support their families but also preserve their prize oxen and customary carts.
From a driver’s perspective, Khieu Sopheap is one of 48 members of the Kampong Tralach Leu Village Ox Cart Association and owns his cart and pair of oxen.
The proud ox cart driver notes that in addition to his fellow villagers, their association contributes to the well-being of the residents of Tahang village, the home of the 300-year-old Wat Po Rukkharam pagoda, also known locally as Wat Kampong Tralach Leu pagoda.
The 52-year-old says his cart can carry two passengers at a time, and generally makes two or three trips per day.
 

We tend to forget there's another famous soi 6 - in Pattaya, full of girl bars, it's why is rarely mentioned here unless Vessey chips in

Also the price went up. 800 baht for two drinks 250 each and waiter helped himself to 300 baht drink? I was watching-no check for his in my check bin.

Went last night. They were having a birthday party for a waiter. Little crowded with about 7-8 customers. At least I can see how my friends party was like - I couldn’t attend that one as I was flying back.
Made sure to tip the older kathoey waitress. I don’t think she gets many tips.

I have been going to Nice Boys for a number of years now. I have also offed a number of boys over those same years, some for extended periods. This bar is no place for the shy; boy or customer!
Its arguably not quite as raunchy as it was pre-Covid, but it remains the only gay bar left in Pattaya that routinely offers the same levels of 'hands-on' (indeed even 'mouth-on') activity in the bar between customer and boy.
Not as cheap as it was in terms of drink prices, but still great value.
I love the place; long may it thrive!  😍
