Having survived Christmas and on opening my computer this morning to find  messages from several Forum members whom I’ve met with in Thailand over the past few years, I decided to overcome my innate  procrastination and write a report on my mid-November to early December visit to Pattaya and Bangkok.
 
I left California on November 14th very tired and a bit reluctant to get on another plan.  I’d been in Thailand in August, back home for two weeks, then two weeks in China, then after a stop at home, in Washington DC for ten days.  Now it was time to cross the Pacific again. This isn’t a whine, rather, my journal from the time reminds me that I was questioning why I was heading to Thailand so soon.
 
There wasn’t a good answer beyond the enjoyment I get when I’m there.  And, maybe, avoiding where to be the “extra” at a family or friend’s Thanksgiving here in the US.
 
So, off to SFO, United Airlines flight to Tokyo, economy plus seat on the aisle, with an empty seat next to me.  In Tokyo, in the UA lounge, I recharge my electronics, read email, take a shower, walk around the terminal to give my legs some exercise. United has booked me through to Bangkok on ANA.  At the gate, I learn ANA has upgraded me to Business Class. A gift from ANA and a bulkhead window seat with a dining menu and a nice Bordeaux to help pass the time
Weather is good and plane is early arriving in Bangkok at 11:30 pm.  To my surprise, the plane parks somewhere away from the terminal and we are all put on buses to the terminal.  This is a first on ANA for me. And a time burner waiting for the bus to fill and then the travel to immigration. Exiting the bus, I look for my greeter./expediter ( I learned from PaulSF that for a fee -$30 approximately - someone will meet me as I exit the plane (in this case the bus) and walk me quickly through immigration, find my luggage, and get me to my transportation.
 
So, ten minutes after exiting the bus, I was with my driver, and on my way to Pattaya.  Caveat: I did not have to wait for luggage as I only had carry-on. I used Mike’s of Pattaya who have never left me down. 70 minutes later, I’m in my room at the Poseidon.
 
Now, it’s time to provide some background information...when last in Pattaya, i offed Pease from @Home  and Sophy from Toy Boys (note for those doubling back on my reports, the names are as they appear on Line, in the earlier telling, I was depending on how I heard them say their names).  I had been hearing daily from Peas saying he’d wait after @Home closed for me - as I was due to arrive after 2am. O.K. Sophy I’d planned on seeing later in my visit. Last visit, we’d had a 3-way which went well...I’d also been looking at the apps and was texting to Max, who said he wasn’t a Money boy and sent some great photos.
 
So, I leave the Poseidon and head to @Home, much of Jomtien has closed down for the night, Peas isn’t there.  I text him...he’s at a birthday party at one of the big clubs. Can I wait until 4am? Reply: No.
 
At this point only Sun Bar is still open with maybe a dozen guys around the bar.  I join them, I buy a drink for the cute boy who gave up his seat at the bar to me.  We talk and I chat with the bartender. There is one incredibly handsome guy in a form fitting black tank top talking with another guy very intently.  Missed opportunity? For most of the flight from Tokyo, I’d been thinking about hooking up with Peas and having him welcome me to Pattaya.  So, I was a bit bummed, I could off the guy who I’d bought a drink but it would have been for convenience - which isn't a bad thing.
 
Then, the incredibly handsome guy was free...the bartender had been watching me watching and asked if I was interested.  (There are mamasans in all shapes and guises) I was very interested, so he introduced me to Doh. Doh was in the bar to borrow a phone as his was broken  He didn’t work in the bar but was friends with many of the guys who did.
 
The introduction went well, I bought us each a drinks, thanked the bartender, there was an off fee - even though Doh didn't work there. I considered it as a tip to the house and left with Doh for the Poseidon.  He was impressed by the room, i was very impressed by his body, we showered together and joined together in the bed.  My unexpected change of plans provided a surprise bonus and a truly fine start for my visit.

I have similar thoughts on occasion with the two boys I consider my favourites. While I don’t plan to be a long term sugar daddy, had either of them indicated in the slightest they would like to exit the bar lifestyle, I would have done my level best to help. I’ve gently hinted I would be happy to sponsor language courses or other courses to allow them to retrain for a new career. Sadly I think the money boy lifestyle is pervasive - they earn good tips, enjoy the social aspect, partying and drinking on a customer’s tab, waking up late, wasting their afternoons before the bar opens. Their only job requirement is to keep themselves looking attractive, not hard when you are a vain Thai boy in your 20s. They not only enjoy the life, they are good at it. One boy has been a money boy for seven years and has no inclination to try any other pursuit. The most I can do for them is ensure they receive a level of respect and good treatment with me. Tip-wise, I try to be as generous as I can (within reason) to buy them a measure of financial security for that week/month.
 
And I am not so deluded as to think if I do not give them my “business” all the evils will fade away and they will return to being happy farming lads. So I - as I am sure all our members do here - just try to be the best custom we can be, and leave it at that.

Paborn, there is no firm train of logic behind it. As far as bedroom matters go, acting on an emotional bias (one that may appear unfounded to you, but is very real to me) is good enough reason. This was a deeply unpleasant off experience, not just in the early AM greediness but boy’s very calculating attitude from start to finish (apart from in the bar where he initially seemed fine). I am definitely one of the wordier posters on this forum but I didn’t see it necessary to delve into extensive detail that my experience with Vietnamese boys in general, not in offs but during bar drinks, etc (and hearing other Vietnamese offs by friends too) have been less than stellar, compared to Thai and particularly Burmese lads. I could be totally wrong but multiple forum posts have also mentioned poor experiences with Vietnamese, and that they have rings of boys teaching the other how to get away with doing the bare minimum while taking customers for a ride. A sour taste is a sour taste and I don’t feel the need to force myself to disprove the incident by trying other Vietnamese boys.
 
It is not my intention to be the United Nations here, only to enjoy each off experience and if I think being guided by my own rules will help, so be it. This means less competition for other Vietnamese boy lovers anyway so equilibrium continues to be maintained!

As we continue, we now c*m, I mean come to the most exciting part of my recent trip in BKK, my visit @ MOONLIGHT!!! For those who still don't know, its very near Soi Twilight, just across the street and a little walk, you can already see the sign of Moonlight. The bar is very classy and I like the modern design of the place. On my way to the entrance, I was greeted by the very friendly mamasans and staff. The mamasans are in formal attire while the staff wears a Moonlight shirt.
 
Upon payment of 400 baht for the entrance, I was escorted by a courteous staff on the available seat and ask for my drink. Tip: try seating on the upper left corner when you face the stage, beside it was the locker room of the boys and guess what? with a transparent curtain and you can see them changing clothes, checking-out their bodies, among other things, haa haa.
 
The show is about to start and the boys are already in stage with numbers and wearing beach shorts. Some are shirtless (the hot guys) while the other wears a shirt (the cute guys). On some seats beside the customer, there are model-type guys in jeans. Also, for those who doesn't know, there are standard boys and premium boys (the model guys who are more expensive) here.
 
While seated and enjoying the display of boys on stage, I was greeted by a long haired mamasan who seat beside me. He asked me if I want a particular boy on stage. I said "no" and smile. Then the mamasan continued "how about him?" pointing to a hot guy on stage, but I replied "no I want him, can I buy him a drink?", pointing to Mr. Handsome Guy. The mamasan replied "okay" and was gone. I think he talked to Mr. Handsome Guy when he stand-up. I did not notice since I'm busy watching the hot guys on stage. At that time, I thought to myself maybe Mr. Handsome Guy was already taken by the customer beside him and I may not have a chance to see him closer.
 
To my surprise, Mr. Handsome Guy is walking near my seat. I froze for a moment seeing his well-defined and toned body and his very appealing and handsome face. He greeted me and my smile was fixed for a moment, I can't believe I can see him this close. Then he seats beside me and he said "You want me?" and then I said "Yes, I'll buy you a drink", afterwards he ordered a drink to the waiter.
 
We had a chat (and also bargain) as his drink arrived, we toast our drinks and I love looking on his handsome face, with an expressive eyes, pointed nose, kissable lips, pearly white teeth and perfect smile. I even put my arms on his shoulder feeling his flawless skin, he he. This is one of the best moment in my life tbh. Then after a couple of minutes, he asked if he can have another drink, but I said "no, nice meeting you" while giving him a handshake. Wow, I like touching his soft hand, ha ha.
 
Then the show begins...I can say Moonlight got the BEST show I've seen so far. They provided all you want in a show, be it a f*ck show, s*ck show, c*ck show, solo act, shower act, leather/s&m, sexy dance, modern dance, and even some with a story like a couple who married (both boys) but betrayed each other (by killing each other), nice, very nice. Aside from that, almost all boys perform on stage and they were highlighted on the show, even the premium boys. I also particularly like this Asian model boy who at first does not appeal to me but when he started to move in the dance, wow, he becomes appealing, his shoes was even removed bcoz of his intense dancing.
 
But of course, my heart skips faster everytime Mr. Handsome Guy is on stage. First in jeans when the premium boys was called. He really knows how to connect to the audience thru his smile and looks. Lastly, in skimpy undies (with army fatigue design) where I catch my breath seeing his bulge and pubes, whew. He really knows how to tease the audience.

joy of sightseeing in Angkor is that often you can beat crowds easily just by crossing the road and it may be something interesting few steps away. Most of tourists are herded to most popular temples ( Angkor Wat, Bayon, Ta Prohm and Banteay Srei ) leaving a lot of space elsewhere. 
 
My most enjoyable part is walking on top of the wall surrounding Angkor Thom ( city with Bayon at the center ). In parts one feels like almost alone in the whole place.

I am so glad that asnstudent agreed to meet me last night after his outcall massage session.

To be fair, Moonlight has a cover charge and I would never try to get in without paying that. I was talking about the average go-go bar. I agree with z909, but it isn't even the cost of the drink it's the waste of time. I see a few guys who I would never conceivably off and I say " sorry" and leave. Don't sit, don't stare just look and leave.
 
To give an example going to a restaurant, not sitting down, just asking to see the menu and declining to be seated is the same thing, the food on offer or the lads on offer are not to my taste so I leave.

All you need to do is scroll down on left side until you get to booking sites and select airlines only and all your complaints disappear! Not only that but when you click on the fare you like, you are transferred directly to the airline site and thus will never have the problem of not purchasing directly from the airline if you have cancellation etc problems.
 
You also get to select a range of preferred departure times as well as your preferred arrival times in BKK.
And the thing I really like is your preferred amount of connection time. I hate short connections as well as long connections. Short means you can miss a connection easily and of course too long adds to much travel time. 2- 3 hours is what I like.
 
All and all a great site that takes a little getting used to , to maximize your searches.

I once saw a passenger whose body fat was hanging over into the aisle of the airplane.
 
It's the airline's duty to make sure every passenger has his space, i.e. the fat does not hang over the armrest. They should have denied the fatty boarding. Even without the injury part, I find it unacceptable that someone from neighboring seat can invade my space.

every 7/11 or family Mart will carry those prominently displayed by the cash registers, no need to look for pharmacy, plenty of those as well.

Fair.  But unless your "boy" is fresh off the boat and you're his first ever farang, chances are he's used to it all and has learnt to shrug it off.  Also there may be other reasons why a guy might not want to go to a particular venue with you - he had just been there two nights before with a different customer; you're his boyfriend (or potential boyfriend) and he had been there three nights before with his OTHER boyfriend; he feels that YOU may not be the right fit for the venue and doesn't want to tell it to your face...a myriad of other possibe reasons.

I find this hard to believe.  Polite Thais generally don't point and they certainly wouldn't in an enclosed place where their actions would easily be visible and scrutinised. They wouldn't want to attract attention to themselves in an environment where people generally behave. If they're middle or upper-middle class, they would have mastered the art of seeing but not looking (which is a different skill from looking but not seeing, which they're also great at).  A quick once over maybe, a glance, a smirk possibly or a disapproving glare but not pointing and laughing.  If they're upper class they wouldn't even  look at you.

Nothing in life is free; you get what you pay for.
 
The actual cost of the fun is not the point for me - value for money is the most important thing. All I care about is whether or not I'm having a great time. If I am -and I always do - then it's worth it. If I had to worry about the cost - which btw is ridiculously low compared to Australia or elsewhere in the world - I'd stay home and be miserable.
 
But I hate wasting money so I target it very carefully. I certainly don't throw it around with "gay" abandon.

He watches the show smiling all the time and when show ends he goes with 4-5 boys and have a meal/club.

Good for him! He's the perfect example of someone who obviously believes he is getting value for money. And like Jasper, I also like watching customers enjoying themselves. If they can afford it, good luck to them. Fun does indeed need to be "oiled by money." The more money you can afford to spend, the more fun you can have.
 
On a recent trip I reported watching a middle-aged Chinese lady holding wads of 1000 baht notes and freely distributing them to guys on stage every time they had a shot of whisky she had provided for them. When the money had gone she simply pulled another wad out of her handbag and the fun continued. She, the bar and the guys on stage were all winners. What's not to love about that?
 
The whole idea of a holiday for me is to go home with a huge smile on my face and a desire to go back for more. And that's what happened after my first visit to Bangkok around 15 years ago. Sure, I was a novice and discovered I was tipping 3 times the going rate for an hour or so of fun. But I wasn't angry or in any way upset, because it was one of the best experiences of my life and that guy introduced me to something I previously considered to be unattainable to someone past his used-by date.
 
And btw, I agree totally with paborn's comment about guys in the bars. In my experience 99.9% are decent, honest guys just out to earn a living.

I was in Pattaya last October and 1000 baht I paid short time, almost never a discussion.
Some boys I paid more. One Cambodia boy took very very good care of me (way above what you can reasonably expect), he got 4000 baht (it was long time by the way, initial agreed price was 2000)
 
When I take a boy in a Pattaya gogo bar to my seet for a drink and chat (and kissing and feeling) I tipped about 300 baht after say 15 minutes sitting with him and kissing him and feeling him etc.
 
When I take a boy to sit with me in a beer bar I tend to tip 100 to 200 baht.
 
For oil massage without happy ending I tend to tip around 300 baht. With happy ending 1000 baht (in Pattaya).
 
For foot massage I tend to tip around 100 baht

that's true, 500 baht is 15 USD, we need to keep this in mind when driving hard bargain as often we get carried over relatively insignificant amount - for us , not boy in question.
 
Last month I had massage with guy and we settled on 1500 but I upped it to 2000 when we were done. His face expression and exclamation ' o my God, I can pay my rent with that " was well worth extra 500.
Then right after,  I went to Chula Besaj pharmacy and bought some drugs saving 1950 baht on 3 month supply compared to my local prices so it looks we both had fun, no ?
