Considering the honesty of George Santos, the intelligence of Lauren Boebert, the empathy of Marjorie T. Green, the moral standards of Matt Gaetz, the integrity of Kari Lake, the spine of Kevin McCarthy, and the personality of Trump, how would your nephews square any decision to vote Blue?   Or are they unaware of these modern GOP traits?
    😉

Do you really think that such a tragedy as the mass murder of civilians could do without the United States? It is the United States that is the main beneficiary of what is happening on the territory of Palestine right now

Turns out on this forum, it is better to be a zombie than to be verbose.  🤔
Count your blessings @Kostik.  At least people read what you post before they laugh at it.  😉

The welfare of Palestinians is not a priority for Iran.  Iran wants to stir the pot in Gaza and Lebanon.  They help keep the cycle going.
Regarding Netanyahu, it seems Israelis blame him.  Can anyone be surprised how it looks, that a corrupt leader willing to diminish democracy and enrich himself may have taken his eye off the ball?

    Some lectern!  😳

She says she's not going to use it though, as it could become a distraction.
    And we wouldn't want that!

The GOP Grifters that get punished are the dumb ones that don't know how to cover their tracks or the ones that piss off the wrong people.
    Sara Huckabee for example.
There had to be a more palatable way to fund a gal-pal trip to Paris with Arkansas tax revenue than claiming the $19000 was for a lectern, too easy to disprove.
The trouble with Joe Harding and the GOP is there are so many more grifters queued up to follow with more GOP grift.
Didn't Iowa Repubs actually get rid of their auditor (a Dem) which seems to give their GOP government free reign with state funds?

Pete1111 reacted to JKane in The Creator is beautiful and aggravating.
So, just like the trailer portends, the VFX in the movie are fucking gorgeous.  (Except maybe that the size/altitude/position of NOMAD seems random.)
But so much else about the movie is just fucking dumb.  The worst is that it really has nothing to say about AI or anything in general.  It's just a big popcorn war movie and the AI may as well be Vietnamese or anybody else.
Alison Janney (CJ Craig in West Wing) is horribly miscast as a tough-as-nails colonel.  I mean, she wasn't believable as chief of staff in WW certainly not as a KILL THEM ALL badass soldier!
TWICE in the movie random animals do exactly what the protagonist needs, once against the AI once for it.  Why?
The cutesy ice cream scene in the trailer and movie... they NEVER establish that the simulants eat.
TWICE in the movie a US soldier is shot in the back with something substantial.  Oh well, may as well ignore it...  (20 seconds later) starts beeping... OH SHIT OH SHIT GET IT OFF GET IT OFF (fails, 'splodes).
It's just not very good, which is a shame because it had all the building blocks to be amazing.
I may still see it a second time, the visuals are that good.  But I'll have a couple drinks first and A LOT of drinks after so I don't try to think about it any more!

Hard to believe it was over 30 years ago.  I had just moved to Portland.  Which is where the film was set, as you know.
Gus Van Sant was a groundbreaker.  Drugstore Cowboy was another one of his great early films.
And, yes, that scene was remarkably tender, and sweet, and also sad.
Probably the best part of a very good movie.  Although there is also that brief memorable moment on the motorcycle.  But only because Keanu looked so incredibly pretty. 😍

Pete1111 reacted to PeterRS in One Of The Truly Great Actors: Sir Michael Gambon RIP
He was not as instantly recognisable as, say, Laurence Olivier, John Gielgud or others in the panoply of great British actors. He kept himself very much out of the public limelight. But the moment he stepped on stage. you knew you were in the presence of a magnificent force in theatre.
Most will remember him for his work in films, as the actor who took over the role of Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter movies after the death of Peter O'Toole, or as King George V in The King's Speech. But his career was firmly rooted in the stage with many magnificent performances both in the classics and contemporary theatre.
Sir Nicholas Hyntner, former director of London's National Theatre, sums him up perfectly. In 2005 he directed Gambon in the role of Falstaff in Shakespeare's Henry IV Parts 1 and 2.  He wrote yesterday -
"Michael Gambon was one of the last links to the great generation of actors that included Laurence Olivier and Ralph Richardson. His extraordinary gift was to combine the brute power of Olivier with the delicacy of Richardson. He could howl in pain at one moment and in the next achieve a kind of balletic grace that took the breath away." He added, "the memory of his countless great performances . . . will remain in circulation for generations."
Sir Michael died yesterday aged 82.
