  1. IF the main issue in the General Election is a recession then advantage Biden, if he repeatedly and effectively points-out the damaging financial decisions of then Pres. Trump and the mistakes and high interest rate policies of the GOP dominated decision makers at the Federal Reserve Board.  The GOP is always better at messaging than Democrats, though.

I literally flipped a coin when I moved to Mexico, it was between there and Thailand. Then I made a list of comparisons....language, political stableness, ease of obtaining residency and maintaining it, distance to USA in case I needed to return for an emergency (which I've done several times)....so Mexico was the obvious choice in the end.

The income test for legal permanent residency in Mexico is high, higher than many expats can afford.  Correct me if I'm wrong:  I believe it's +/- US$60,000 verifiable annual income, or static annual investment / bank account balances of +/- US$220,000.  From what I observe, many expats are living in Mexico illegally (not suggesting floridarob is).

  3. I don't place any importance on sketchy public opinion polls this far in advance of a general election campaign.  Biden hasn't even begun to campaign, nor campaign against whomever the GOP nominates.  His popularity will increase as the general election progresses.  If the GOP nominee is Trump or D, Santis ... Biden wins.  If the GOP nominates a generational younger candidate ... Biden will still be strong, but his age will become a front-burner issue as will the Harris Factor.

The law has to limit underhanded insurance company schemes ...

Yes, and the law has to limit false claims by scamming insureds.  I've had friends who've filed false claims, for things which were their wrongdoing / damages.  If / when someone files an inappropriate claim and is compensated ... the rest of us who don't act that way pay the price, eventually.

It is summer in NYC and with the Pride festivities behind us things are actually warming up! It's the summer break for most college age young people and the city is overrun by hot, horny young men who are in need. They are all over Grindr/Scruff and the bar scene is equally fun. Anyone else in NYC helping these young men out, or is just me? 😁

I long for, miss, the days when 'Rounds' was in operation.  A supermarket of available, very good-looking guys - for a price.

I wonder which fitness center is this. 200 baht entry sounds more like a sauna rate lol

In the other discussion about this incident a news article was linked and identified the business as Phoenix Fitness and Sauna Service Centre on Ratchada-Tha Phra Road.

Side note about use of 'likes". Not sure about others,  but at times I find myself use it even if I don't agree with what's said but I like how is said- witty or informative

Well, I have been to Havana many, many times, and the last time I was there in January (2023), there was a whole gay parade basically around 3 am. As soon as we entered La Rampa from the Malecon, it was very obvious, especially the later it got. The crowd of gays did end once we made it up to Club VS. This may have been a 1 night thing, no idea. When we was in that area 2 nights later, no sight of gays, but this time we entered from the opposite end, and just went into Club VS.

The above remarks come from a trip report posted to a forum for straight guys traveling for sex.  Might mean something, or nothing.

  9. Thank you for the comments, floridarob and Tomtravel.

For the past couple of days, I've been doing a deep dive into current information for Havana and Santiago, Cuba generally.  Descriptions I'm reading in traveler trip reports and a couple I've viewed on youtube align with what floridarob has recently been told by his contacts there.

Maybe I'll go, maybe not.  I'll continue to digest comments here, and elsewhere.

    Thank you.

  10. This would be a first-ever visit to Cuba for me.  A mid-August birthday present. Easy flights out of Tampa. The dark side of Santiago ... calls out to me. 😁 But I'm open to visiting Havana, alternatively.  What do I know?  Nothing, about Cuba.  I've been looking for / at independent-entry casas particulares independentes in both destinations.  Suggestions?  Thanks!

Weight loss brand Jenny Craig is getting a second lease on life. ... Nutrisystem’s parent company Wellful is rebooting the brand this fall in a “convenient direct-to-consumer delivery model,” the company announced Wednesday. Jenny Craig went bust in May after more than 40 years in business because of growing competition from trendy diets and weight loss drugs like Ozempic.

France has been segregating people from it's former colonies in ghettos for decades with very little in the way of opportunity for them. And plenty of suppression by the authorities as well.  So it's not a surprise that people with little to lose explode into violence against a state and police apparatus that has been holding them down for so long. This has happened several times.

Sounds familiar, when we watch reactions to Israel's apartheid.
