Abbreviations.  In texts it seems like Brazilians abbreviate almost every other word: Voce becomes vc, beijos becomes bj, and on and on.  This messes up google translate - you almost need a translation of the abbreviations just to use google translate kkkk

Lol! Guilty here, I now write my Portuguese like this too: Vc ñ quer sexo hj?

In Google Translate, vc is translated correctly to you,  and bj is suggested as beijo.

Those are common words I gave as examples.  There are endless more abbreviations that are not so easily translated.

Does “n” automatically translate as no, also?

The night started out with a bad programa.  I’ve learned to just cut my losses when this happens and move on to the next guy.

This garoto was glued to the porn, made it clear he didn’t like to kiss, insisted on doggy style only.  Zero emotion, body language stiff as a board.  I just wasn’t feeling it at all...partially my fault because I didn’t feel him out enough beforehand.

I tried talking to one of the elite Lagoa boy types, but he was being annoyingly aloof.  Red flag, next!

Brought up one of my favorites who I knew I would have a good time with.  Used the same room, they didn’t charge me extra even though I think I might have gone a little over on the time..

Sorry to be so late with a question. But I wonder how the negotiations beforehand went with the bad programa guy. He must have promised more than he delivered. Were there any clues?

He was one of the macho muscle top-only guys, who are the most likely of all garotos to behave like this.

I got to the saunas after 9pm that night, so everything was really rushed.  I didn’t have much time to chat or ask him many questions i.e. whether he was a good kisser, etc.

I’ve had muscle types that were stiff downstairs, but then when they got to the room were passionate underneath their tough exterior.  It’s just kind of a gamble sometimes.

Does anyone know if “tô” is an abbreviation, or is an irregular verb? I haven’t yet figured out where it is coming from, although google has no issues with it.

“tô” is  a casual written word short for “estou”, which of course means “I am” (the present indicative version of “to be”, as opposed to the more permanent “sou”).

tô = estou
tá = está
tamu = estamos
tão* = estão

Fantastic, thanks!

I guess you can say it also? It is not only in writing, right?

I’m the next Maluma!

So proclaims one of the garotos, who has proudly just sent me his latest song on whatsapp.

He had told me before he is a singer, but this is the first I have heard his work.  It is actually really good - the boy has talent!

Another garoto sends me a picture of himself in his army uniform, looking sexier than ever.

He explains that he is on a “top secret and confidential mission” now, but after it is over, can we meet again?  I had only been with him twice in the saunas before he disappeared.

From prior conversations he has told me he makes just 2400 reals a month working full time in the army, and does occasional work as a garoto on the side for extra income.  Obviously he is in need of some extra money now, hence his sudden re-appearance.

In the evening I get a text from yet another garoto that I had met in Rio.

I DA PRA CASAR!!!  (I’m getting married)

Com quien? (With who) I ask.

COM VC!!! followed by a bunch of kiss and wink emojis (With you!!)

Aww.  These garotos are quite mischievous and funny sometimes..

Lol, so true.

One garoto from Rio claims he ditched his girlfriend ahead of my arrival, so that he can be mine full time.

They know what we like to hear. And they are happy to say it, whether true, or, most of the time, not.

I was going through some old posts on this board, and saw a picture of this guy from 12 years ago.

It was shocking to see him so young, because I immediately recognized him as currently working at Point 202.

He has aged a lot, but must have a base of regulars

that is Jhonny, who still dances as a stripper at gay and straight venues! He is a really nice guy, and was a companion of mine from about 2006 - 2008!  I saw him dancing in one of the drag queen shows at 117 about a month ago!

He is still sexy - there is something about the shape of his eyes that made me recognize him right away, even though he looks a little bit different now

I am awoken this morning by a garoto telling me one of the other garotos I know was in a motorcycle accident in Sao Paulo.

I’m told he is doing ok but fractured his wrist and foot, and suffered a concussion.  He also has some bad scrapes on his arm and forehead.  Obviously I am concerned.  But at the same time I’m trying to decipher whether this is for real.

From the picture he does look pretty beat up (I cropped out his face).  Do I feel like an asshole being skeptical? Of course.  No money has even been asked for yet.  If he really was in an accident I wouldn’t hesitate to donate something.

My other garoto friend says he is going to go visit him tomorrow and maybe he can facetime.

The only good news at least is that Brazilians have free health care.  I can’t even imagine how much this would cost in the US..

Not terribly uncommon among the garotos ... Carlos a regular at 117 has to adjust hs topping due to a damaged knee secondary to MCA ... bur he still sends me to paradise.

Tomasian's 'acquarium' Doug got badly cut up thrown from a MC a year ago. A major scar on his shoulder.

I hope the infamous Rio green-eyed EuroBrasileiro club/netgay lad Gustavo keeps safe. I have seen him mount his very high-end MC with very fancy garb at the Gloria corner.

Yeah, in general motorcycles are extremely dangerous.

Taking a motorbike to the top of Vidigal was literally one of the scariest things I have ever done (it didn’t help the driver was going up the very steep hills and around the corners at break-neck speed).  Never again!

Rio and Sao Paulo have such good metro and bus systems that having a car or motorcycle doesn’t seem at all necessary.  Uber can fill in any gaps in coverage, although maybe for a garoto uber is too expensive.

Speaking about post-brazil depression... It is the reason why i quitted my job in Italy, picked up my bag and bought a one way ticket to Rio where i have found my current job.

Never done a better choice.

I'm currently suffering from the same depression. Or maybe because I'm still jetlagged. But I fell in love with the city and its people. Did you find it easy to find a job there? I assumed you speak Portuguese fluently. It'd be nice to migrate there, I think.
