I see a new luxrious hotel has opened up in the old Bondi hotel site. Unfortanetely,whilst i would love to stay there my budget will not let me. 1290 baht is the cheapest room. Whilst they dont have pics of rooms on their website,it certainly looks to be nice. I am jealous of you who will be able to afford to stay there,but sometimes i just prefer a simple room,as long as its clean and tidy and a comfy bed. Anyhow i wish them luck,i would imagine its not only the gay market they are after,however oddly their cabaret seems to be more for a gay crowd. I think its fantastic that someone has rejuvenated this area.

Last night a Thai friend and I tried the El Paso Steakhouse, a fairly new restaurant on Pattaya Tai, about a hundred yards or so past Third Road, heading toward Sukhumvit. I fell in love with the place! I had the best steak I have ever had in all of Thailand. Not only was it cooked perfectly, but the flavor and the way it was seasoned was exactly how I like it and, after leaving the USA, thought I would never have again. You can bet you're going to find me in there a great many times. I ate with a Thai friend who, of course, ordered Thai food. He too was absolutely delighted. Pattaya Beer Garden is a great place for a drink on the bay. Food is very reasonably priced too.

Isn't it true that if you or I were convicted felons on the run as fugitives, we would be arrested upon presenting our passport when trying to enter a foreign country? I thought that was true. If it is, why do none of these countries arrest him? Why do they accept him? Why do they let him enter? Also, why are countries such as Nicaragua and Montenegro issuing him passports at all? Passport Card is meant to be used in lieu of passport for travel to Canada, Carribean, etc. But it seems to me it might be a nice thing to carry around since we're really supposed to carry our passport with us, though I've never encountered anyone who does. It might also come in handy in case of a lost passport in that it "might" speed up an emergency replacement. Only 20 bucks. And with a chip that "could" trace which Sunee bars you frequent? Yesterday, Wednesday, my Thai friend and I went out to eat at Cherry's Restaurant on Third Road. We haven't been there in a long time and so we were surprised that they had a buffet laid out. You could have the buffet or the regular menu. The buffet is only 295 and included salad bar, appetizers such as medium shrimp on toast, spring roles, quiche, chicken wings, cold cuts such as ham, roast beef and other. As of closing time last Friday, the US Dollar to baht exchange rate was 35.15. By closing time on Monday, this week, it was 35.30. This morning, Tuesday, it opened at 35.40. I would imagine this is the beginning of the effects of the political unrest, but knowing as little as I do about how economics work, maybe it's something else or a combination of factors. Whatever it is, I have no complaints when I see the baht moving in our favor.

Just a rhetorical question really: Does anyone understand the numbering of the floors in the parking garage? There is 1, 1 1/2. 1/12, 1 1/2, 2, 2 1/2, 2 1/2, 2 1/2, 3 etc. If we were going to meet in the parking garage on, say, level 2 1/2, how would we know which 2 1/2? One more thing to add to GB's "I don't get it" list.
