Police officers caught littering, parking in a prohibited area, or arriving late — among other misdemeanors — will be forced to stay in the division office and wear the armband all day, said Police Col. In the past few days the exchange rate has been steadily improving for the US dollar. Only about three weeks ago the exchange rate came close to getting into the 32s. The lowest I recall seeing the rate was 33.02 baht to the dollar. The exchange rate seems to be getting better. It's slow, but at least it has been steady over the past several days. The closing rates for August 6 were: US Dollar: 33.69 Euro: 46.48 British Pound: 68.715 Australian Dollar: 28.6325 Canadian Dollar: 31.725

Walking Street bars protest to City Hall after Polcie orders to cover up or face closure. If you are traveling within Asia by air be aware that the newest security item is for them to go through your carry on. There are new and not completely clear guidelines as to what you can take onboard. I had a 1/4 full toothpaste tube confiscated at BKK. My traveling companion had facial moisturizer confiscated at a stopover in Kuala Lumpur. Why it was OK at BKK and not in KL is anyone's guess. I strongly suggest to put everything that is in liquid or semi liquid or cream form in a plastic bag and put it in your check in luggage.

Has anyone any advice on places to go in Ubon? Will be going for the Candle Festival this week-end and am totally new to the city.
