BBC News Ousted Thai PM 'free to return' Ousted Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is free to return to fight the seizure of his $1.6bn assets, his successor says. Interim PM Surayud Chulanont said he would personally guarantee Mr Thaksin's safety if he did return to Thailand. Thailand's military ousted Mr Thaksin last year, accusing him of corruption. Fire Damages Gay Bar in Pattayaland Soi 2. Just after midnight on Monday evening police and the fire brigade were called to Pattayaland Soi 2 to douse a fire which had begun in an advertising sign on the side of the Wild West Boys go-go bar building. A large crowd of onlookers gathered to watch the blaze, giving Pattayaland Soi 2 its largest crowd seen on the street for many a long year. The fire brigade took almost half an hour to put out the blaze which is thought to have been caused by an electrical fault. My other half and I just returned from our first trip to LOS. We spent 18 wonderful days both in BKK and Pattaya. I just have to tell everyone that this was absolutely the most incredible vacation we have ever had! The people, the scenery, the boys, etc. were nothing short of fantastic. We are already planning our next trip and plan on staying longer next time. I have, for the last 10 months, since booking our trip, been reading the message board on this sight and must comment that a lot of the information I read was very helpful. Many of you may be familiar with my article, "How to Obtain the Retirement Visa." As many of you know, one of the ways to get the visa includes a letter from your embassy verifying your monthly retirement income. I have not yet had a chance to personally check this, but yesterday I was told by someone who holds the retirement visa that it is not , repeat not, necessary to obtain a new letter each year when you are about to apply for a new visa. According to his information, the original letter is valid until your passport expires. …

Many of you are familiar with the Olé Restaurant in Pattaya, especially those wonderful buffets at such a reasonable price every Wednesday. Yesterday (Saturday), Ernst, the owner, suffered a massive heart attack. At first we were told he had died. That, thankfully, turned out not to be true. Our latest information is that he is in Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital, in bad shape but at least alive. I don't have any more information beyond that, at this point. When more information becomes available I will let you know.

Why is the main group of scrolling adds above full of what appears to be young Russian or Ukrainian ~ or at least Slavic ~ prostitutes? I foolishly clicked on one the more handsome dudes there (one of scant few such I might add) and it crashed my 'puter. I'm not putting you on. It died. Since then I've steered completely away from the Volga Boys. So, what logic lies at the bottom here on this Board for gay guys who I assume love Thai ~ or at least Asian ~ men . . . often to the exclusion of most other desires. On Monday night there was a major police raid in Pattayaland. It wasn't just the gay bars. The raid included the go-go girl bars too. I was not there, but those who were tell me that no "farang" were harassed in any way or checked for ID. Can any one give the address and phone number to the bar My Way in BKK? Do they have a website? One of the boys there gave me his e-mail address when I was there in March 07 but the address is incorrect. I want to give my e-mail address to him. A friend alerted me to the following URL for those who hold long-term visas and are required to report their address every 90 days. Apparently, now you can do the address report online. I have not tried this and I am somewhat reluctant to be the first one who tries doing it this way. Has anyone tried it and made sure it is acceptable? If yes, whenever you personally report your address, they staple a receipt into your passport that shows you have made the report, includes the signature of the immigration officer, and tells you when the next address report is due. How do they handle that part if you submit your report online? They can't E-mail you a receipt…
