  1. This is high on my bucket list of things that I want to do. May I ask, how did you organize this? via the mammasan? or you asked one of the bar lads and then he asked 3 of his bar lad friends to join you? Logistically, did you take the ferry and then spend the night in a hotel on Koh Larn?
  2. Any credence to the rumour that the former Toolbox owner may open a new place in the Jomtien Complex ?
  3. Wow Numazu, In my opinion, you are Rush reincarnated with your writing capabilities. Rush archives I really like the way that you write and the fact that you included a map, which is a 5***** star act for me!! So many posters here write their fabulous trip reports (greatly appreciated) but without a map for context - I often get lost and confused about the lay of the land. A map helps me to get oriented and prepared for my to-be adventure. Thanks. Numazu, the snippet what you wrote above - is SO true. Us gays we have fought so many years for equality and now that we have almost gained it - we are starting to lose our ghettos (hang out zones) - which for me are what made being gay so special. The first time I walked into Soi Twilight many years ago was one of the MOST gay captivating events in my entire gay life (even more so than Amsterdam, San Francisco, Paris, and New York). The intensity of it all was at first overwhelming but over time it became easier and easier to digest and enjoy - it was like heaven. I cannot wait to read your next segment.....
  4. I like all 3 forums: Gaybuttonthai.com Sawatdeenetwork.com www.gayguides.com I like Gaybutton more for practical information (how to stuff and how to get over bureaucratic issues), I like Sawatdee because it is more focused on Pattaya, And then, the grand-daddy of all of them - this forum, gayguides - mostly for 1.) for within Thailand - more non-Pattaya stuff, 2.) the global boards for information on Europe, South America, and Asia.
  5. Hello Emiel1981, Back in 2015 I took a hired gay guide couple who gave me a road trip through Chiang Mai, Chaing Rai, Sukhothai, and then the fabulous Kanchanaburi region. Here is a link to my 2015 trip report - in case it could be helpful to you. Cheers and enjoy, M. 2015 trip report
  6. BINGO - you have perfectly expressed how to overcome this shame barrier. We need to own it. I've noticed that this gets easier as we get older and care less about other people's shaming tactics - especially from within the gay community. When we were young, we fought so hard against the non-gay community that shamed us in the past - but often the more intense shaming originates from within the gay community. I cannot help to use this colloquial as it is apropos - "but what a shame...."
  7. Numazu, Excellent trip report and writing skills and narration. Bravo!! and the way you ended this episode - like a cock tease - very tantalizing. I cannot wait for the next segment. Thanks, M. p.s., your writing style is very similar to Rush from Dancing with the Devil in the City of Angels unfortunately, he is no longer with us....
  8. many thanks for your kind words Vinapu. I am happy to learn that my previous trip reports from many years ago helped you gain more joy from Thailand - and I believe that when us members take the painstaking time to prepare them the reward is knowing that there were found to be useful and maybe even changed someone's life (4 hands) :>)) Yes, I was in the background and silent for many years - my job became all consuming and took over my life and I did not have anymore trips to the LOS, that I decided to remain silent as I could not add anything of additional value to this forum. Now that I went into retirement - I hope to be more active in all of the various forums. However Vinapu, I do in fact have a lot to learn from you. I can say it in one word = COURAGE I truly envy your courage on how you are not afraid to approach the guys that you want and to perform the "Vinapu tuck" - even in front of the entire bar audience and staff - with the result of them applauding you and cheering you on. That takes courage!! I also see that it creates tremendous positive energy and camaraderie - and I really like that. ok, I look forward to finally meeting you.
  9. Wow Vinapu, Great finale to your trip report. You are a great report writer - I like your style. I will finally retire to Thailand - I hope to be already moved to Jomtien during this September. So, I hope that I can be one of the ones who gets to meet you and join your fan club - I love the camaraderie that develops between you and the various members of this forum. I am hoping that I can learn from you when you will be next in Pattaya and Jomtien. Cheers, M.
  10. I would argue that this approach awakens the hunter gatherer in us from our jurassic prehistoric man period. I also had this behaviour, let's call it a "type of sport". then earlier in life, I dedicated 5 years to therapy (psychoanalysis) to try to understand my need for this exciting but endless hunt. I learned that it is partly due to the "fear of commitment", so we "hunt" which cannot lead to a committed relationship. I am not saying that is what may be going on with the OG of this post - but it is what I learned about myself. Do I still hunt straight guys? Yes, but way less than before - as I am now aware of what @Slvkguy wrote, "chaser is prepared for the inevitable" - so I now do it more for entertainment purposes. And after 5 years of therapy - I am also able to maintain a relationship - but as I write this I am currently single - and content and happy.
  11. Hi Vinapu - I imagine that they are chatting with each other - and the reason that they are glued to their phones is because they need the Google translator program to communicate between them. cut & paste the native text and then transmit in their respective language the message. If it is not that - then perhaps they are selecting guys from the apps for a 3-some or 4-some later in the evening....
  12. Hello @CurtisD great trip report. Would you be willing to post some pictures of your trip to Koh Lipe ? In your previous trip reports you posted some amazing pictures. Many thanks, Martin
  13. what a tribute. In the above 2nd photo - there is a shot of our beloved Vinapu. Amazing, that he is everywhere gracing us with his love and satangs :>))
  14. I prefer the Pattaya / Jomtien closeness to the seaside - fresh air, and breeze. The bigness and noisiness of Bangkok stresses me - therefore making the offing guy experience less fun. So, for longer periods of time I prefer to stay in Jomtien / Pattaya. For more intense action packed fun for a shorter period of time - then I prefer Bangkok. For meeting the guys - I am happy with the offerings in both places - especially now with the ease of the apps - but I do like the going out adventure of go-go and or host bar scene.
  15. oh my God - that must have been a totally uncomfortable situation. were you able to "over-cum" that difficult situation ?
  16. Hello - their facebook page says their Line ID is sabaidespa22
  17. Hello Vinapu - great trip report. Reminds me of old times. May I ask, was it easy to buy SIM card at the airport with the Test & GO. If you are to be quarantined - do they mind if you are shopping for a SIM card? If I am going to be quarantined a SIM card purchase is essential for the quarantine period. Thanks, M.
  18. I love your Google map with location PINs. anyway to get your individual massage reviews to be embedded within the PIN popup that is displayed after touching the PIN? thanks, m.
  19. Hi Stewart, Great trip report. some years back when I was in Mae Sai I tried to cross over into Tachilek but I was with a Shan Myanmar national who had his Thai papers and his Thai boyfriend, who is a Thai national - but they would not give the Thai national a visa (at that time) and his boyfriend was very worried about being able to return into Thailand because he is Shan - so we did not venture into Myanmar - I'm American and they told me that I could have entered like you did with the 14 day visa leaving the passport at the border crossing. I did not do it because I did not want to abandon my tour guides...... In consolodation, my 2 tour guides had their Myanmar friend cross over from Tachilek into Mae Sai so we could all have lunch together and hang out..... I will eventually make a proper trip into Myanmar by flying directly in Yangon and then venturing out from there.... Happy birthday to Sai....
  20. You would be my HERO if you can do this "google map" thing with your trip reports. For some years now I have been suggesting that all of the forums in Thailand (and this would be applicable for the rest of the world) to make the "Trip Reports" precious, as follows: Store them in their own section and make them searchable, Give them key word tags so that others can data mine the invaluable data contained witthin them to help users plan their own trips, Add GPS tags to them so that they can be displayed in a "google map" format with PINs where: by placing the mouse over the PIN information about the trip report can be displayed, by clicking on the PIN the Trip Report would be displayed - to the relevant section Allow for an option where the user can select the PINs on the google map that interest them to make a personalized planned trip that the user can use where the GPS coordinates would be available in the smartphone to keep the traveler on target and to keep them from getting lost. Now that would be COOL!!! here is an example of this technology at work (sorry the site is in German - it was the only site that I could find with a good example - an no I don't speak German) : http://mundraub.org/map

  22. Hey, I just sent Woody a LINE message and he replied that his email address, Jonno193@hotmail.co.th Is still valid. If you want a quicker response from him, just LINE him. I hope that this helps you. Cheers, M.
  23. Hi Vinapu, Thanks for your excellent trip report. 10 days fully actioned packed. I hope to get back to LOS in 2016 - I will make it one of my goals... by the way, on bruce_nyc's new web page he is running a contest for best trip reports. I voted for you. I also voted for RUSH, since the memory of his trip reports should live on in infamy.... happy new year Vinapu, M.
