The only thing is you will have to look for it ,unlike Pattaya,Either Grindr or going out to meet boys, so it doesnt suit a lazy person or under confidence person,I'm a introvert but I still did it

I love all the top guys the Phillipines has

There is gay sauna in Manila
But go out and meet guys ,best way like I did is ask guys especially those without a shirt on  for a picture with you ,slip them 100 pesos , give them your card with a number
Get cards printed with your number
I was gang fucked in Gensan by 4 young dark skin factory boys from 19yo to 23 all came inside me ,I think I paid 3000 pesos all 4 of them plus alcohol ,my bf did get them for me though , I had a sign on me CUMDUMP and my bf took pics as they were fucking me , all took Viagra ,

I also had much free sex from Grindr mostly straighttradies with Hilux utes

Olddaddy got a reaction from iendo in Why not retire to Thailand?
I just saw another post where the poster was saying he was retiring to Pattaya in September.
Now this question has been thrown around the gay forums for years and of course many of the original farang expats are no longer with us.
The "latest" gay farangs of course to retire will be more wealthier however is it just me but I have noticed my last few months there is far far less gay farangs retiring to pattaya,no idea about Bangkok but far less gay  resident expats in my opinion
So this is my update, I just spent several months in Thailand, particularly in Pattaya to see if I still had that "urge" to settle down there forever  like I used to want to when I worked hard and all the overtime I could to save enough money for that "exciting retirement"
Fast forward 25 years and sadly it seems going by my last few months in Pattaya I no longer have that urge or excitement to retire here in Pattayail,I'm not ruling out other parts just Pattaya now doesn't do it for me
Its a combination of things, unfortunately I tend to reminisce over old times and what Pattaya used to be like, walking thru the old Sunee recently I had memories after looking at the old Top man go go ,the exciting & busy times there etc, Michael who used to own it,memories bar ,the old farang expats who used to talk chat laugh with
The boys who were more Boyfriend material entertainment, rather than the business like boys nowadays.
It's no longer like that, well to me anyway, yes I know times change
25 years on and now near retirement I cannot see any reason to retire there, the boys are drying up and more than ever " businesslike" with one even sending me a written quote for his services on grinder and times of service etc.
The beer bars I can no longer relate to,I find a few farang owned great where you can communicate with other farangs but most seem Thai owned and uninteresting .
Unfortunately I suffer with "it's not like it used to be" syndrome.
I find most things in the supermarket etc just as expensive if not more expensive than my own country eg cheese& coffee.
But what confirmed it was talking a gay farang in a beer bar who had been here 2 years who was "lonely".He was thinking of going back to the UK as he had his daughter there.
He spent his days living in a jomtien condo near the complex and was ,in his words,"bored"
He had no friends it seems or should I say "real friends" just seemed to be the other gay farangs attending daily the beer bars he would say hello to.On asking if he had a BF he said no you cannot find a real BF here and I believe he is right.
Talking to him gave me that extra thought that it's too early yet and with risk to retire there without having any "support'.
Support meaning someone who is a genuine friend, someone who notices you not around etc ,support when you get sick
I imagined what my scenario could be  62yo ,then retire to pattaya,I'm  still gym fit & relatively healthy.
So I would rent a condo probably near jomtien complex and spend my days doing what?
Maybe going to gym like I did, massages etc but the days start to get boring, missing family back home, etc
Visiting bars? Hiring the services of male prostitutes who want to go as quick as possible, then what?
    That got bored for me.
Watch tv ? I would be bored too and very lonely .
Obviously age makes a difference too,if I was 75 instead of 62,it may be more inclination to retire to pattaya but once again where do you get that support if you need it in sickness etc
What some guys cannot fathom is you will no longer be a guy on a 2 week holiday chasing arse or dick, you will be living there and you will grow tired of it .
You will find the boys working will become disinterested in you as you no longer use their services as much as a 2 week millionaire and they stop contacting you on Grindr etc
You will sit most nights in your condo watching tv bored shitless, you will go out during some days to beer bars just to talk to someone.
You will be alone the majority of your time unless you hire the services of company who want to most times leave asap anyway
I can't do it at this stage of my life ,I prefer to continue working and travel each year .
One thing that could change that though is if I had a very genuine Thai  boyfriend and I don't mean a paid boyfriend who works in a bar I mean a real lover , someone you can move there for and live with .
But at this stage guys I would say be very hesitant to jump into something such as retirement to Pattaya and finding out your more lonely than ever!
Suffering depression being away from family, living by yourself in a high rise condo would be no fun with no network support wouldn't be fun, and to be brutally honest with you I have heard there have been far more negative stories of farangs retiring to pattaya particularly gay farangs than positive, that's why you see so many going back after trialling it for a few months
It wasn't what they imagined, I doubt any like me on here will admit that though, that  they didn't like it here full time ,
I do,I couldn't cut it guys, living in that jomtien condo everyday ,not at this stage of my life, it got boring,I got lonely ,I felt like I had no support,I wanted love after a while, someone to care for and he cared by, the moneyboys, that's what they call themselves nowadays, weren't people I could relate to,times change I guess ,but maybe some day I can get my spark back when Pattaya comes back I guess but not this time, I'm going back home

Olddaddy reacted to reader in Why Australia’s elite basketballer is ready to tell the world he is gay

Editor’s Note: Isaac Humphries is a professional basketball player for Melbourne United, part of Australia’s National Basketball League (NBL). He previously played college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats. The views expressed in this commentary are his own. Read more opinion on CNN.
    Opinion by Isaac Humphries
One of the best feelings in the world is playing a game of professional basketball while on peak form.to perform in front of nearly 10,000 people a night; they’re cheering your name, they’re wearing your jersey. And all while you throw down a powerful dunk and flex to the crowd.
Well, it should be the best feeling in the world, right? And for a brief moment, I guess it was.
That was in 2020. I was 22 and playing with the Adelaide 36ers, two years before signing with my current team, Melbourne United.
Now imagine what happens when all of that adrenalin comes to an end after a game. For me, the euphoria was gone the moment I drove out of the arena. I’d get home to my apartment in Adelaide’s coastal suburb of Henley Beach, and be all alone.
I felt I had no choice but to be by myself. That’s when my wave of depression would hit the hardest.
Over my entire career, there was no reality that existed where I could be an openly gay man while playing basketball. Until now.
I’ve played everywhere – Kentucky, the NBA, Europe, the Australian national team – and it’s all the same: for the most part, being an athlete at that level is about making money, dating girls and being the best basketball player you can be.
So I fell in line, no matter how awkward and weird I felt doing it. I just wanted to fit in and not draw any attention to myself. There were almost no examples of a male pro basketball player doing anything other than that, so I was resigned to the fact that my true life would start after I retired.

My impression after travelling the Philippines last few weeks is they love their fast food chains, everywhere I went in shopping malls etc they were busy lining up for Jollibees fast food & all those American chain restaurants.
If that was Thailand it would be the street food they line up for, I found that a bit of a shock compared to Thailand where they love their street food, but maybe I was just in the wrong places/areas  in the Philippines.
I guess more in the poorer type areas of Manila you would find more street food but the Shopping malls were always crowded ,I couldn't get over how crowded they were along with their fast food restaurants.
No wonder there's so many " large size" Filipino around, some looked like Hawaiian/islander look

Olddaddy reacted to reader in The legendary Madrid
While posting about the Jim Thompson film in Beer Bar forum, I got to thinking about the Madrid restaurant in Patpong. Although he met his demise two years before it opened in 1969, Thompson would have felt right at home considering the clientele who frequented the place in its early days.  The Madrid also makes occasional appearances in the trip reports, particularly those of vinapu. And as for price, what more testimony do you need than that of Christian who finds it a good value. Here's some takes of how it's been remembered over time.

    Bangkok Post (August, 2013)

The ornate black door with the coats of arms and shields looks heavier than it is, and opens up from the gaudy seediness of Patpong Soi 1 into a world where time moves differently _ although not necessarily slower.

The Madrid bar and restaurant has evolved since it opened in 1969, then catering mostly to US soldiers fighting in Vietnam and later gaining a reputation for hosting pilots from the CIA's Air America and even as a place where covert operations were planned.
A woman who asked to be identified only as Jenny now runs Madrid; she took over the business from her Thai mother, who helped get the bar up and running with Jenny's American stepfather. The clientele was about 95% American in the old days, including many CIA and DEA agents and US embassy workers.

The most famous regulars were the Air America pilots who conducted clandestine operations against communists in Laos in the 1960s and 1970s. Most have now gone: Many have died, others have stopped drinking out of health concerns, and some have moved upcountry because they find Bangkok too expensive these days.

Pilots are still popular at Madrid, but these days they are the commercial rather than conspiratorial kind. This is helped somewhat by the fact Jenny's husband, Andre, flies for Vietnam Airlines.

Screenwriter Dave Walker, who calls his recent project The Poorest Man ''a Khmer Rouge story with a happy ending'', has been coming to the Madrid regularly since 1981. Of all the changes there, he says it's the people he misses the most.

''I miss the characters,'' he says.

''It was living history. The conversations here, you couldn't imagine. These guys really lived life.''

    Stickman (May, 2013)

One of the great dames of Patpong, Madrid opened in 1969 and has been popular with generations of expats. Hundreds of bottles of alcohol are stacked behind the bar, yet the single-shophouse Madrid with small booths along one wall is more restaurant than bar.

In a city with unlimited dining options, Madrid still compares well. Madrid opens early and the eggs Benedict is a favourite. There's a daily special but Madrid is perhaps best known amongst expats for its pizzas, amazing given that pizza is the one item of farang food that polarises expats. Who doesn't think the best pizza comes from their hometown?

The area above the bar is said to have been a CIA safehouse in the '70s, a place where clandestine meetings were held and planning for many missions over Laos carried out.

Easy to walk past, Madrid is located on the main Patpong soi, about 50 metres or so along on the left-had side if you enter from the Silom Road end.

    The Guardian (March, 2017)

There’s only one Vietnam veteran’s bar left in Patpong, the notorious red-light district. When Khun Daeng and her American GI husband opened the Madrid Bar and Restaurant in 1969, the first thing they did was swap the grand piano for a record player. Soon after, it became a hangout for CIA types. Men like Jack Shirley, a legendary former CIA official, drank here. The current owner, Jenny, Khun Daeng’s daughter, has not altered the decor since the Madrid’s hey-day, and it still serves the unappetising-looking but much-loved army dish known as SOS. This either means “shit on a shingle”* or “save our stomachs”, depending on who you ask. It is a mush of chipped beef, mixed with milk and gravy, slapped on toast.

    * I can attest that it was the former, from basic training to discharge. reader

    Teak Door blog (November, 2008)

The Madrid was an old CIA hangout during the Air America days. At that time, you most likely would run into Jack Shirley or Tony Poe downing a few beers in the Madrid. Tony Poe is who the Colonel Kurtz character from Apocalypse Now is based on. The photo below is an old one from the Lucy's Tiger Den. The walls at the Madrid are plastered with photos of customers new and old. Jack Shirley is on the right and Tony Poe is sitting with him to his left.

I was there for 10 days...my 3rd time in Bali once in Jakarta. ...so much cheaper than Thailand. Same issue on apps, fake pics, so you have to screen them well. But some are so nice and it feels less commercial than Thailand.

But the biggest thing I think you'd like, every guy I hooked up with, went right to rimming. I'm not into it, don't rim....but if someone wants to rim, I'll let them, for a bit.

Plus there's cut (Muslims) and uncut (Balinese) guys there ....I like someone to drink with, so that's a bit of a challenge, lol
