1  I never tried but it probably depends on the guy,  some guys seem to have a set program  others seem to have never heard of a massage before lol.   I’ve seen massage places that do out call.  That might work better.  In any case you at H places you can just take charge.  If the massage isn’t working signal time to move on.  The guy I saw several times at arena seemed ok one time when I wanted to move on.

2 if you don’t like bars don’t go to bars.  If you do just say no, last trip I didn’t buy a single waiter/ mamasan/pimp a drink.  If i liked someone I would wave them over or ask someone to.

Other options  apps(grinder etc)  lots of pros on there.   Also sex clubs/ spas:  Maxwell Olsen had a good range of young fit guys when I was there other then the locker room and pool areas you wear cloths they issue (also private cubicles available) but there are lots to choose from.

I always prefer online maps. They are more likely to be up to date and since I am already carrying a phone, why carry another object - a book?

But coming to the point, I have never had trouble finding places in Japan, though maybe I haven't been trying to get to out of the way places. Most establishments nowadays are able to send you a googlemap reference that is very accurate.

That's a rather unusual and I reckon unnecessary comment coming from @macaroni21. First I did say a "bilingual guide like this one" adding there are many available on amazon. I did not recommend mine although I bought it 15 years ago. And surely he is perfectly well aware that publishers do not keep such map guidebooks for 15 years without regular updating. All such books are updated every few years. That said, I have used the small map book whose pic I printed and have never had trouble finding anywhere in Tokyo. He should also be aware as one who visits Tokyo that Tokyo's Bangkok's gay areas are far more permanent than Thailand's. Shinjuku ni-chome has been there for the more than four decades since my first visit. Ueno also fits that bill to a lesser extent, as do several other areas.

I have nothing against online maps which provide precise details of gay establishments. But for general getting around, I will always also have a small book map with me even though generally they have no mention whatever of any type of bars.

I hope what I said didn't come across as offensive, because offending was certainly not my intention. But if I sounded offensive, please accept my apologies. My point was simply that cities change constantly, and online maps support changes (and often they're free) better than print. Sure, they can issue new editions from time to time, but even so, one has buy them.

Absolutely no offence taken - indeed merely gratitude for all you contribute and not just to this thread. I totally agree that cities do change constantly and pre-printed maps/atlases can certainly be out of date quite quickly - depending on the cities. I suppose my ideal is using a handy bi-lingual atlas like the one I posted which makes finding Japanese addresses quite easy since the address format used in Japan is totally unlike that in most other countries, and a downloaded map showing in more detail exactly where my intended destination is.

A little anecdote. In between jobs I once flew to Europe with a Eurail pass to visit lots of places. In Madrid I based myself in a small hotel near the main station, the aim being to visit several nearby towns in the mornings - places like Toledo and Segovia - and then 'do' Madrid in the afternoons and evenings. All worked well until Toledo when it started to rain quite heavily and I decided to return earlier. On the train I walked through several carriages hoping to find a cute young Asian I could chat with. Success. I sat opposite a late 20s Chinese. I noticed that we were both using the same Guide Book (these were early internet days). And that's what I told him when trying to start up a conversation. He responded with something like, "Yes, they're really good." I then added, "I can tell from your accent that you are from Singapore." Which did not faze him a bit, but his next comment certainly fazed me. "And I know that you live in Hong Kong!"

It turned out that he had worked with one of the government's economic departments when I was negotiating some deal with colleagues from my company in Hong Kong. Then he had been a slightly younger, nearly head-shaven civil servant. Now he had long hair and much more of a hippie look, having left government service some months earlier. I started to get my hopes up that we could meet later that evening. Then he told me he would be joining his girlfriend once we got to Madrid. Bummer!

Yes and no, Hagia Sophia in Istanbul is in the same place since 532 AD and so is Notre Dame in Paris. When visiting Lviv in Ukraine in 2019 I was told that there's streetcar line running the same streets since end of 19th century, during that time city was in 4 different  countries - Austria, Poland,  USSR and Ukraine.  And Sherlock Holmes still lives at 221 B Baker Street in London  for all I know although rumors are Dr. Watson moved out already.

Remember back in 1973 was on the annual school skiing trip to Livigno up in the Dolomites in northern Italy. 

Flew into Milan, then coach to the resort. On the way back for some reason, properly cheaper, flew out of Munich.

I tracked the whole adventure on a couple of my father's WW2 escape maps, so 30 years old. The silk still in pristine condition, all the major towns and roads listed clearly and still present.

Admittedly you couldn't find a bank or a chemist or cafe, but then again back in 1943, you'd want to avoid them anyway.

Sorry, Baedeker was the European guide of choice for the Victorian Grand Tour. See it appearing in the film of "Room with a View". The books were bound in red linen, and had many  priceless comments. Such as," for a small fee you may employ a boy to push your bicycle up the hill". They had very detailed maps, and descriptions of hotels, restaurants,  trains etc. I built up a small collection, mostly 1890s, many years ago, when they were cheap. Now they are sought  after. When I went to Venice, the Baedeker  was very helpful, as the sights hadn't changed! I followed instructions to go to a church, down a small alley, and was told there was a Bellini behind the altar. Indeed there was! Restaurants,  etc, had changed a bit!

So I'll talk to myself since I can use this to vent. Just made it to Thailand a few days ago. after just leaving two weeks in Japan. I will say I don't know how to navigate Thailand when it comes to sex scene. I know EVERYONE talks about massages and honestly im just not a massage person but according to everyone that's the bread and butter.

I did shop for a bit after a few days and ended up in Patpong since I know/think that's where everything takes place. After walking around some dude took me to Dream Boy bar which I found funny since I was there in 2024 and had a hard time picking two guys I talked to out of that club and they both ended up working there. Then I ended up leaving with the guy that gave me the most attention at the time. Then the other guy reached out after the club closed. So fast forward to now I ended BACK in same bar 2 days in a row with 2 different guys >_<. Both guys were good in their own way. The guy on day one was def just trying to finish and leave. Don't read too much into the use of the word "massage". In most shops, especially those in Saphan Khwai, the word means little more than foreplay. Okay.... So last night was fun but it was just hard to navigate. So I ended up going to the bar the guy(BOSS) I was talking too worked at. Granted st said bar there was this really cute guy I should have picked!! My guy was on the phone most of the time which I don't mind but like damn can we at least pretend to be interested. When ?He left to get dressed I called over the boy that was cute to me and gave him a tip. Honestly because he was cute and kept eye contact with me the whole night. So my boy that I met in 2024 once we got to the hotel we had good conversations. Mind you he's also an adult content creator? or at least he films with content creators. We had a good conversation. Then we it go time to get down to business. It ended up being the same thing! We had fun in the beginning but it ended up being stomach issues.
