Additionally, I am not an expert in Colombia, but in my one visit to Medellin I had the clear impression that boys over there do not manage mileroticos like boys over here manage Rentmen. They manage it more like Backpage used to work. If you go far beyond the first pages, you will be in outdated territory.
Finally, pay attention. Did you not notice after scouting the first pages, how repetitive some ads are? Easily you can find five different ads in a raw belonging to the same boy.

Trips are one thing....in Mexico, for example they will say what dates they are going to be where ever.....then there are some that are just throwing a net and try to get people to deposit money ahead of time to guarantee the appointment. So they post in just about every city....that's my red flag.

If they are difficult during the conversation, another red flag.....if they're bitchy trying to make the sale, how good will their service be 😏

I would not let that stop you from getting acquainted with the fun-loving caleños. The warning about Cali applies to the regions surrounding Valle de Cauca which are major producers, and the nearby city of Buenaventura is a major export centre, meaning that there a many unsavoury characters running around who have no patience for a clueless foreigner.  The entire area from Valle de Cauca to Riseralda (Pereira) is very safe now.
The city of Cali is a different Colombian experience to be certain, but the culture is highly social, famous for salsa, lively music and boisterous gatherings where all are welcome. The caleños love a good time and enjoying life. It is certainly one of the cities not to be missed in Colombia.

If you have so much displeasure, and you are paying so high prices (compared to other South American destinations), why are you planning to return? Why do you not switch to Brazil or Colombia instead of RD?

hmm...when I was in Budapest in Oct there were plenty of hot guys advertising in Hunqz.
Yeah, some guys desperate for money will settle for 10-15,000 HUF but most guys will charge higher than that. You can ask if they have lower rate for 30min; many will offer that upon request. Gym fit/musle hot guys (many will be used to traveling to Zurich, Vienna etc for work so they know their market value) will charge 100-120 Euro an hour.

Ubers in the Dominican Republic are different than the U.S.  Scammers are working with Uber drivers to Defraud you out of your money.
I Dont send ubers.  Even if I know you, I wont ever send a Uber in the D.R.  The way I see it: You want money.  I have money.  This is a J-O-B. Take a guagua or ride a moto to your Fair Exchange.
Fact is: they most likely not going to make money like this in one day. And they KNOW it.  If they Refuse to show up because you wont send them a uber, they were most-likely scammers.  

Possibly. But not for certain. It’s normal practice in Latin America to check the ID of any unregistered person going to an hotel room. 
 
Just bear in mind that hotel staff have ALREADY seen EVERYTHING in their working lives. So live your life to the full and don’t worry about what others may, or may not, think. 

I’ve certainly used them in Buenos Aires, where hotels that rent by the hour are referred to as “telos”. And I know they exist in other cities.
 
They are popular with heterosexual and homosexual couples. Conveniently located and clean, they offer a range of facilities but usually include a double bed, showers, towels, toothbrush & paste etc. I always just turned up with my guy and paid cash (as I’m wary of potential credit card fraud).
Don’t abandon common sense, however, if you’re going with a stranger. Take minimal cash, leave valuables in your hotel room safe etc - I’ve heard 2x of guys getting robbed at knifepoint once in the room. 

I chose Cali for that. To me, that’s where the hung Colombians are. I do have higher expectations on the Brazilians, especially on the Cariocas. 

Maybe @Half-vaccinated is very direct/strong in making his point, but he has a point. I agree with him: 3000 - 4000 DOP is waaaaay overpriced. In Juan BinBin 1000-1500 is what you need. As do (grindr- and street-)boys that come to your apartment. DOP 2000 is for reaaaaal cuties, hung or fit guys; 2500/3500 are your ultimate Instagram models which are rare to visit you. At Marlow's a standard 1000 is quoted. 
Other prices and services are not scams; they are just smart business opportunities from the one's who offer it. Some ignorant tourists pay up whit out questions. Stay smart.

A few years ago I created a longlist of about 12 ads prior to visiting. From that list I created a ‘red flag’ sublist based on a quick Google search of each phone contact. They often yielded a Mileroticos ad but a different handle and set of photos. Perhaps scams. Perhaps a few guys sharing or rotating numbers among themselves. None of these responded with a convincing answer. From there it was easy to generate a short list, confirming with a brief text chat, 3-finger selfie request &c. These all turned out to be good experiences when there.

Please, notice that although my original plan was an intensive exploration of the local escorts market through mileroticos and Fercho, the things went in a different direction. I hired only two escorts. One from mileroticos, one from Grindr and @macdaddi's recommendation. 
For my next trip, I think I will make an experiment. To me, there is nothing like a GP Brazilian sauna. The sex you can have there sucks, but you can try whether or not the candidates are a good match, and then meet them in a more private and comfortable location. Up to my knowledge, there is nothing alike in Medellín. So I will try a substitute.
I will sit in Adonde Aquellos or Chiquita, open my hooking apps, and invite boys to my table. Let's see how that goes. Last time I was there I was not alone, and had to reject many yummy offers. My Grindr was in flames with boys asking me to be invited.

Unfortunately, many of the garatos on vivalocal have photos from 10 years ago, or are heavily photoshopped.  Some of them took their photos when they were avid gym goers and in top shape some time ago, but have a different body shapes now.  That's why I still prefers sauna's in-person meat market.
