So many choices.  For me, from Tampa, Florida USA to BKK in November, assuming a visit of 2 weeks, airfare is approx. US$1,700 r/t with a travel time of 30 hours.  Ouch!  Tampa > Medellin?  Approx. US$600/8 hours.  Rio?  US$1,200/13 hours.  Santo Domingo:  approx. US$600/6 hours.  Prague?  US$920/16 hours.

Yes, Taiwan has tons of visitors for Pride. Last time I went the airport was full of gays from around Asia. The immigration line took a long time. I think it's a great place to visit any time, but their Pride is the biggest in Asia. The parade is quite long.

That was the smart thing to do and is what I always recommend.  If serious about moving to Thailand, if possible try a long term stay first before committing and make sure to leave yourself an escape route in case it doesn't work out.  Thailand is not for everybody.  People very quickly find out that actually living in Thailand is very different from a holiday in Thailand.
You did it just right.  People like me are living in Thailand because it did work out and we are here because we want to be here - and wanting to be here is a far cry from finding yourself stuck here.
It is reminiscent of that old saying - "It's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there."
Folks, if you are serious about wanting to live in Thailand, make sure you are doing your thinking with your head, not your crotch.

I suggest a theory with no scientific pretension. Just teasing you and @floridarob.
Devil's breath may not be an urban myth. It may be real, although the possibilities of being a DB victim may be near zero. However, when you are a runaway international slut, your life experience surely involve samples of even de less probable incidents.

"all the suspects arrested had no license, insurance, registration, tax, helmet, or other requirements to legally drive in Thailand."
well i would define this very statement as chaos, hundreds of kids on bikes, tourists being injured 1 report of a russian killed in 1 of these links, most of these arabs are in thailand illegally, if you wind up in hospital because of them the chaos of trying to get anyone to pay your hospital bill other than yourself would be the definition of chaos.

I would not take a free house on that street its a glorified race track for hundreds of high as a kite kids on bikes, both me and my friend were furious at being trapped their for what seemed a eternity.

Sorry to hear your bad expierence with the two Vietnamese boys. I myself had some very pleasent moments with Vietboys and other men in this forum also I read.
So yeah I think the right conclusion is you were just unlucky.
Don't think you can say in general Vietboys are bad... After all you only tried two... Can't really call that representative research. If I have two bad expierence with guys with black hair, I don't go out posting that all guys with black hair are bad...
What I'm trying to say is maybe you can make your postings a bit more nuanced.

I thought this was a post about tips on Pattaya... Not a discussion about races, discrimination and who's right & who's wrong...
I think there can be two opinions on almost all things... A bar I think has a nice atmosphere, somebody else will find too loud. A boy I think is sexy, somebody else wouldn't even pay attention too.
And a Soi that somebody else finds dangerous, you maybe will feel completely safe in.
Also it can be all about what time you are where. If somebody is in a Soi where a lot of motorbikes dangerously drive/race around doesn't have to mean somebody who comes there the next day has the same expierence.
I see this forum as a place where people can agree but so can think different about things. Like hotel reviews where somebody writes its a horrible hotel while the next guest writes its a fab place to stay...
It's all about perspective, expectations and feelings.
I've read on this forum for example that Dreamboys in Bangkok would be the bar with the best boys. For me it was the least favourite place when I made my round in the Bangkok bars two weeks ago... I don't go and write other poster was wrong and he must have been making it up. I just give my own opinion about my visit.
    It's all about respect.

Yes, I will stay in America and travel worldwide frequently.  One day when I am too old to travel, I will just rest in America till the end of my time.  I have made plan for my final arrangement including a cemetery plot here in America.  Many years ago, I did a long stay in BKK for 1.5 years.  I decided Thailand was not for me.

Well apparently so is everyone living there too is afraid too, you did read the articles maybe all the people living in that soi maybe their all lying too, what a mixed up world & life you live where you ignore reality & facts & try to portray sunee as a heaven on earth. So i am wrong the police are wrong the media is wrong, the residents are wrong, the hundreds of arab kids on bikes are a asset to the local community, because Captain Florida ROB say so, florida who is sending immigrants to martha's vineyard are not these kids assets too? are capt florida bob to you defend florida's rights but not pattaya residents.
Big Bad Rob or BOB where do you stand on marthas vineyard, or maybe in florida would you be just fine with hundreds of muslim kids riding up & down your families road for kicks would you praise them in gay forums as upstanding members of the community, what say you capt rob.

I am not an owner of any bar in Sunnee plaza. Just someone who enjoys the bars, and the area that still has a go go bar with twinks.
I’ve walked there after getting off the baht bus countless times and can’t recall once where I was in danger of being hit by a motorcycle. This was from January thru April of this year. Maybe with the easier entry it’s more congested now, possibly.
RobimHood sounds like he’s into drama. Just stay away then. And while your at it, watch out for lightning. And don’t touch anything metal, you might get shocked, lol.

Retired in Oregon. Happy here with my partner.  Enjoy visiting, but I have a circle of friends here, and don't want to relocate. If my partner died, I might try it for a few months, but I suspect I'd come back to the green and the rain. The thing that might get me to truly move if my partner passed is if my money grew a bit tight, because it goes so much farther elsewhere. In that case, I'd probably pick Mexico because as others have said, the language is easier and it would be easier to visit what friends and family remained.

I intended to retire at 55, but changing pension regulations made that impossible and the choice became 50 or 60. It didn't take long to decide; going to 60 meant more money but retiring at 50 meant more fun. I spend 7+ months in Thailand and the rest in UK. I would rather spend much more time in Thailand but a fairly large house and garden make that unrealistic. Downsizing is coming up but I need to retain some sort of 'pad' in UK. Given that it's difficult to obtain permanent residence in Thailand and, as far as I'm aware, impossible to gain citizenship, I don't feel able to cut all my ties with the UK much as I might wish to do so.

But my claps are going to Mr. Biden-Alzheimer. He just announced "end of COVID pandemic". As a world famous virologist and professional medic, he knows for sure how to stop spreading of virus: president just need to announce end of pandemic time.
Ig Nobel prize 2023 is waiting for him.
So, speaking of recession, we all just have to ask Mr. Biden-Alzheimer to announce end of recession. It will help. 100%!
