I gonna start this tidbit thread with stories about a cheating mamasan in Toy Boys.
This week, I came directly to Pattaya from the Bangkok airport (using Nam taxi, 1000B, they gave me detailed instructions of how to find the driver: Arrival Hall, walk outside and find Entrance No 3, then look for a car plated XXYY). Staying in AIYAREE PLACE just across street from Jomtien Complex (spacious room with a double and also a single bed, which I can use for massage, a separated space with room apparatus, arm chairs and table, perfect for working remotely, swimming pool and small gym, included breakfast buffet and also 400B hotel credit for lunch/dinner in the in-house restaurant with a pretty good selection of Western and Thai food, all of these for just 1100B/night, also no problem with guests to the room)
Chatted with a boy on Blued for a massage deal. If I'm gonna meet a guy on app, I prefer if he can do massage and if I can just book for massage only first (in case the guy shows up and looks totally different from his picture). This guy seems professional with his itemized price list (shown in the picture). Some members may know him too (the one who keeps promoting his own laundry service all the time and I find it quite cute.

Mamasan presented me with a handwritten bill including my drink, boy drinks, bar fines, boy's tips (1500 each) and also a charge for bar's short-time room (400 per boy). He told me he collected the boy's tips in advance just for safety and that even though I don't use the short time room at the bar, they still charge for it as a rule. I guess I was really naive at the time and probably trusted the bastard too much because he's Vietnamese too. To think that I even gave him a decent tip for all of his "troubles"!
Only when I was back to my hotel and talked more with the boys who spoke rather limited English, I found out that the short-time charges were totally bullshit. If I didn't leave town the next day, I would come back to the bar and raise the issue with the management. The next time I set foot in the bar (6 months later), I simply ignored that mamasan who recognized me instantly, refusing to speak to him even for seating or bill paying (kinda passive-agressively you must think). I became friend with another mamasan from Cambodia and had no problems since then.
So back to my massage, I asked Kiwi (the boy's nickname) why he quit, and he said he didn't like the working enviroment there and especially the mamasan, who cheated him out of his money so many times. Of course, it was the same guy. Turns out he cheated the customers and he cheated the boys too. 
Kiwi told me that many times that mamasan dealt with a customer (especially someone new to town) 2000 for ST and collected the money in advance but told the boy that the customer paid 1500 so the boy got back 1400 (minus his cut of 100). Kiwi said he never thought about asking the customers how much money they actually gave the mamasan. He only found out about this almost one year later, when a customer showed him a picture of the same handwritten bill I got, and funny enough, including the same bogus short-time room charge I had.
Kiwi also said even though he gave the mamasan his standard 100 cut every time, that one still tried to steer customers away from him (because some other boys would give mamasan 200 or even 300 cut), like telling the customer who wants a bottom that Kiwi only tops (FYI he can do both but prefer bottom position), or even saying that you need to be careful because he's kinda bad boy etc. 
Kiwi, too, only found out about this through customer feedback, and his story brought back another bad memory. 
That night, when I pointed to one of the two boys I later offed, who was standing quietly like a church mouse in a corner, Mamasan did say that boy only goes with lady customers. But because he was totally my type, I waived him in and later found out he's gay and can bottom (another red flag I should've paid attention to but I was too excited to have my first threesome ever at that point). Back at the hotel, I asked him why Mamasan said he only goes with ladies, he said he didn't know and he never went with women customers before.
Back again to my massage. Job done, I'm happy with the massage, after services and also the enlightening conversation we had, and gave him 2000 even though he only asked for 1500 tops.

I think while bogus charges from mamasans are quite rare, their playing favorites is pretty common. Only when I was back to my hotel and talked more with the boys who spoke rather limited English, I found out that the short-time charges were totally bullshit. If I didn't leave town the next day, I would come back to the bar and raise the issue with the management. The next time I set foot in the bar (6 months later), I simply ignored that mamasan who recognized me instantly, refusing to speak to him even for seating or bill paying (kinda passive-agressively you must think). I became friend with another mamasan from Cambodia and had no problems since then.
So back to my massage, I asked Kiwi (the boy's nickname) why he quit, and he said he didn't like the working enviroment there and especially the mamasan, who cheated him out of his money so many times. Of course, it was the same guy. Turns out he cheated the customers and he cheated the boys too. 
Kiwi told me that many times that mamasan dealt with a customer (especially someone new to town) 2000 for ST and collected the money in advance but told the boy that the customer paid 1500 so the boy got back 1400 (minus his cut of 100). Kiwi said he never thought about asking the customers how much money they actually gave the mamasan. He only found out about this almost one year later, when a customer showed him a picture of the same handwritten bill I got, and funny enough, including the same bogus short-time room charge I had.

But because he was totally my type, I waived him in and later found out he's gay and can bottom (another red flag I should've paid attention to but I was too excited to have my first threesome ever at that point). Back at the hotel, I asked him why Mamasan said he only goes with ladies, he said he didn't know and he never went with women customers before.
Back again to my massage. Job done, I'm happy with the massage, after services and also the enlightening conversation we had, and gave him 2000 even though he only asked for 1500 tops.
Also because of this, I decided to go to Boyztown that evening and visit Toy Boys again (I walked past them a couple of weeks ago and saw they just re-opened with that cheating mamasan standing at the door), just so I have a chance to blow him off again hehe.

Day 13
  As I mentioned, HC was not in rush so we missed  breakfast in the hotel, he decided to go to his room and I went for breakfast  to world famous. Straight from there went to Chatuchak Market by MRT. I did not have anything to buy, just wanted to visit it after  few  years. It was not as crowded like before and I had impression , much more orderly then previously.
Spent few hours wandering through stalls  and when I had enough sights and smells   I returned by combination new MRT line and BTS from Bang Wa station,  on my way catching sight of new Big Buddha on Thonburi side of river.
 Timing was perfect as as soon as I entered my room rain started and I mean RAIN. As usual with Bangkok rains it was heavy but after about hour and half it stopped as suddenly as it started. I had plan for this afternoon as yesterday  when passing soi 3 I noticed massage shop called Bua Champu, almost beside Baan Silom hotel and not only recalled that it was recommended to me by Christian PFC but also boy sitting in front of it looked somewhat familiar and I realized I saw his profile on Grindr.
So I had some expectancies but somehow I was late to start being active and he misread my intentions so all I got it was very good massage and only a little bit of feel. I guess I had my shy moment there , LOL.
Well massaged and hungry I went to soi 4 for my schnitzel at G’Bangkok then to Hot Male to have daily (well almost ) chat with guys there and soon after went to Tawan.
K, hero of my first night soon after went to his hometown to see his son, perhaps  oiled by my tips but did not forget me and every day or two was sending me messages on Line “how are you ? “ , I miss you “ and  similar liturgical stuff although considering that we hit it somewhat and I was generous with him I believe it was sincere. I miss him too anyways and when he Lined me that he is back I knew that he is second in line to be offed  right after HC.
It was more than week since my last time there so I was greeted somewhat  warmly  with handshakes and hugs    by quite a few of their stuff . Apart from guys I already knew I noticed new, for me ,  guy, very muscular and at the same time handsome, lets call him TT. So after ordering beer for myself , K and Dum when I noticed he is smiling at me I fell immediately in love and called him over for a drink as well.  M and Ten , both I had massages with also were circulating nearby but  I disciplined myself and they were forced to be content with 100 baht tips but no drink.  
I complemented TT handsomeness and was rewarded with kiss  , not to mention option of wrapping my arm around his massive shoulder as he was sitting beside me . Then show started , again one of performers called me KFC man, few tips were distributed and time came to take K home because bar was about to close and he wanted to eat something. Bill came to 2100 for off fee and 4 drinks but fun of that evening was priceless with view for even more obviously. I stole one more kiss from TT in exchange for 100 baht, LOL.
For dinner he suggested well known restaurant across the mouth of former soi Twilight which I  approved as I like food here and two waitresses , one of them remembered what I used to order 3 years ago as I mentioned before.
I was in for more surprises there. First both of them asked  if I’d consider buying them glass of red wine, sure. It was good idea not only to improve mood but  soon after it was revealed that one with good memory is no less than first cousin of my K. No wonder he suggested that restaurant. Then she said we are alike because I like boys and she likes boys so next time I should bring one more for her.  Wine started to work, no doubt.
Then over dinner they started to speak very highly about K. It turned out that mother of his son didn’t  want a child and run away leaving baby with him . So he soldiers on as single father  working hard and sending  money to his parents who as rising his son in rural Surin while he works in BKK.
He did not make much of it saying simply that it’s his son after all so it’s his duty to support him , show me his picture and baby is like father look alike minus muscles of course but similarity was obvious.
 So tonight after fun time in Tawan I got even more of it in Beer Garden or whatever name of place is and I must say I started to look at K with even more respect.
He seemed to be happy that somebody else told his story and in the room when we finally arrived he seemed much more clingy and talkative than before. So my day 13 ended in the morning with uplifting mood for both of us and when he asked if I off him again I told him “more than once” which earned me shy, manly kiss

Only three times do I remember calling off a massage in Thailand.
Twice iit was due to repeated request for tip before, or immediately after, massage started.. I paid the shop the fee but did not tip and told manager why.
The third time occurred after guy agreed to 1200 but then demanded 1500 five minutes into massage. 
Best advice is to follow your instincts. If it’s going down hill early, it’s unlikely to improve with time.
All three instances were rare and all took place over 5-6 years ago, as I recall.

Any time now a  guy asks me in advance how much I pay, I assure him the best way to get a good tip is to do a good job. 
 

There could be many reasons. It can be a sign of comfort to be able to just sit with someone you know very well already and don't need to make small talk just for the sake of it. They might be waiting for friends to arrive, or maybe he is happy to just not sit alone. I try not to judge others, everyone finds happiness in their own way

I started frequenting Thailand in my early twenties. Ate whatever I wanted, never exercised and did not sleep much. I was on vacation!

Nowadays, I've been trying to keep the same routine as at home. I have much longer stays in Thailand mainly because I can work remotely. So most of the day, I stay inside and do work. It also saves me tons of time on applying sunscreen  Also I stick to the gym for roughly 2 hours each day, usually in the afternoon (not weight lifting and heavy stuff, just running, push-up, sit-up, bar pulling to stay slim-fit) and may order an occasional massage after gym. My last stay in Poisedon was a disappointment (they claimed on Agoda they had a gym, but they didn't).
Although the night life is what makes it different from home, I tend not to stay too late anymore. I don't do LT so if I have an ST, night usually ends around 1 or 2 am.  
The good news from this routine is that whenever I walk into Silom Soi 4 or Jomtien Complex, many, especially farangs, still think I'm a freelancer, looking for customers (the fact that I'm Asian and look very much so may contribute), just like years ago.
