First Time Trip to BKK and Chiang Mai

Recommended Posts

Firstly, thank you all for this forum! I stumbled across it whilst sat at home over the Christmas period and it has been really helpful - i wish i had seen it sooner! It has so much useful information for someone like myself who is off to Bangkok for the first time in just a couple of weeks.

If i had seen the forum earlier i may have chosen differently! I am in the Ascott hotel and now think this might be a bit far away from the action - only a 20 min walk but probably too far for any boy i have off'd? What do you think?

Was a little concerned to hear of the recent raids. I really don't fancy getting caught up in that!

If there are any forum members about between the 17th and 30th January who want to meet up let me know. Would be nice to meet someone with the expert knowledge of the scene. I am really looking forward to it.

I have six nights in Bangkok and then up to Chaing Mai for another six nights before heading back to the UK.

Anyway - thanks for all your contributions to this forum!

Taxis are cheap and plenty.

It would only cost 50-60 baht (£1.50) from Patpong 2 to your hotel in Sathorn.

Wouldn’t you rather spend extra 15 min. in bed with your boy?

Just make sure you ask the taxi to turn on the meter

My limited experience of this involves taxi drivers refusing to use the meter and quoting some inflated fare.   So they deserve all they get when people avoid them and use public transport, walking or Grab.     On my current extended holiday, I have yet to use a taxi.

Stationary taxis hanging around at tourist-trap locations just after  BTS and MRT have shut down ( which is *before* midnight) are the worst offenders. If you walk to a main road and wave at a moving taxi with his "free" (ว่าง) sign turned on, there is less likely to be a problem. If he refuses to use the meter, don't argue, just walk away and flag another one. And if your new Thai friend does the negotiating, all the better.

while it does happen , it's not that prevalent and most are honest. Exception are guys standing on the street past midnight on both ends of Patpong waiting for next naive to accept inflated fare but hailing moving taxi usually have me moving right away.

There is a BDSM bar in Patpong, I forget the name but one Soi over from Thaniya. Probably worth a peek if this is your thing.

Worth to mention to avoid shock that this bar is a straight bar, but if you want to purchase the gears, they probably know whwre the best to buy them, or perhaps they might also sell them there.

Not sure how it works, can you hire an escort for a session or is it a “show” bar? Any possibility they are gay friendly at least?

Ive never been inside but heard someone who has been there they have shows like bars and it is between men and women. I guess someone else maybe can pitch in better to answer this question. All i know is when i walked passed the bar, i saw two grabber/promoter a guy and a girl, both wearing leather gears and holding a cane or a whip.

It's straight.  I've been inside only because there's art gallery space that occasionally has shows upstairs.  Or at least that's my story and I'm sticking with it.
