Well, I suppose one could say that it's not necessarily true that the oceans have water in them. That would be a true statement. But if the other site has an advantage over this one, other than having more viewership/participation, I'd be curious to hear your opinion as to what this advantage or advantage(s) would be.  I'd be curious to hear just one. I can't think of any myself.

For one, it has far superior software, It's more user friendly, and the site is easier to navigate.

Unicorn discard as unimportant the very biggest advantage of the other site: participation.

Oh, I don't at all discard participation as an advantage. It's obviously a massive advantage, and probably the only reason the site is still around and as successful as it is.

Just a few things I find frustrating. If you make a post and hit submit, and decide that you want to add something or delete a comment, or realize that you've made a spelling or grammatical error, you can't after 30 mins. The software prevents any changes. If you decided to delete the thread or post altogether, even within the allotted time, once you have submitted it, the software doesn't allow it, it forces you to post something. YouTube videos aren't always compatible and every so often, I can't get one to post at all.

I don't know why there is more traffic there and more participation, I just don't have that answer, but there is. The energy and topics are more diverse in all the forums, and the posters more interesting. The 'Political Forum' alone is worth the price of entry. That's just how I see it. AS and Lars were a great loss, people should be thankful that they are here.

And lastly,  I personally like the admins style of moderation. I think sometimes a stricter hand keeps those that behave badly off the site. Is it too much sometimes, perhaps, but in the end, it makes for a more civil atmosphere. There are no right answers here, some like it, others don't. You prefer it here, I prefer it there. It's not really worth debating.

Really Adam? You are not the only one, it looks like many are picking reasons to explain the other site success that make you feel better, rather than actually trying to assess reality.

So I let you feel better.

You evidently can't, and don't -- and don't want to -- know how, and why, Bill is destroying Hooboy's legacy.

I do want to know, the problem is that a line of reasoning like "we are few but we are better" sounds like self reinforcing bull shit. If you have anything better, I am willing to read.

Rockhard, and many others who dislike this piece of trash of him being an asshole

I can't believe another member encouraged me to read this gibberish. To avoid reading the entire post, I had to do a search for my name. IMO, JD should never write another word until his writing/grammar acumen equals his ego.

One way to seriously lose my favor and respect is to misquote me. To describe Daddy, I NEVER used the words "dislike this piece of trash" or "him being an asshole." I really despise being misquoted, almost as much as I despise having my member name appear in the same sentence as the TROLL.

Oh Adam, I think that train left the station a long time ago. Hooboy had a clever idea, but he died without health care and a will. Let's not place him too high on a pedestal. Otherwise, we end up looking silly.

You really are an egotistical jerk.  It wasnt a QUOTE stupid, it was a "sentiment" which he was attributing to a number of people.  but I agree that he scraped the bottom of the barrel for YOUR name.

For an asshole like you, it should be an HONOR just to be mentioned.  Dont be so fucking ungrateful !   BTW, the use of the word TROLL is as played out as YOU...   Bye Felicia !

It is self-reinforcement. It's a generous attempt to stay positive about a board in limbo.

Without the donations, there's no telling how long the "other site" will last. One health care crisis, which can come any day now, will most likely be the end. Mark these words: the week after that place closes, this bar will be packed. The escort-loving queens need to talk, and they'll gather at the most convenient location where the talk is cheap.

The only reason that site gets more traffic is that it's been around longer

With all due respect, it's a bit more complicated than that.

I was blocked for a month because I posted a photo a model had on his facebook page, in which he was with his fully clothed toddler son. He accused me of promoting kiddie porn!!  If that's not crazy, I don't know what is.

Daddy is very low on cash. In the wake of the Rentboy fiasco, he's particularly paranoid about the legal issues associated with photo uploads. He simply can't afford the Feds breathing down his site. He can't afford the hint of any fines.

It's not a good idea to take Daddy's decisions too personally. He pays the bills for owning and maintaining his site, and none of us knows what it's like to do business in his shoes.

You only need to look back, if you care to, at 15-year-ago-plus content still archived on the M4M forums to see the tragic comedown from then to now, there.

And if the difference in content quality There vs. Here today is not visible -- or not important -- to you, then I do not know what to say.

I hope people don't feel that have to pick or choose.  The intent of this site was always and is to be open and free spirited and welcoming of others.

Daddy's site has not been around longer than this site BTW.  Both came about the same time when Hoo's family decided to close the other site down and all reviews that were under Hoo's reign were legally supposed to be removed from the site.   Sites change and grow or have ups or downs. But, I assure you that this site is totally free for all, does not play favorites and will be around long after all the others close. Why?  I love hookers and I love learning about them.  I want to do what I can to advocate for them to make money.  My time running an escort service in NYC is way gone but I have never wavered in my love for the guys that work.

I think I have said so, in full, somewhat above, in the posts about me getting banned & blocked therefrom.

We are grateful BTW for your letting this stupid thread run on and on and on. I for one think airing of the particular issues discussed herein is for the greater good of both sites, and for the community at large.

Thank you for this open unhampered forum.

Even though I posted a lot in the days when Hooboy ran the site, I am not sure what his legacy is. He sure was a forerunner in bringing escort reviews to the masses, and he did set up a good site, but he hasn't been remembered there. I don't know why that is, but so many current posters there know nothing about him. Then again, I know nothing about so many posters there as it has been almost four years since I retired from the place.

Thank you @TotallyOz, I agree the idea is to foster diversity. I do not have to choose and I do not choose, I like having more than one place to enjoy and contribute to.

@AdamSmithI love you even when you address me condescendingly. I thought I had already addressed before your argument about quality. Let me repeat myself. If you want a place with high traffic and participation you have to learn to accept and be able to productively interact with all kind of participants. Besides, when you state your superiority over others you are often communicating more about you than about the others.

My concern since I started participating here has never been a competition to establish which one is the best place or service. My concern has been bringing more traffic to boytoy because I do highly value the input of people who is here and not in the other site, Adam amongst them. The pity bitching against each other is not my thing, I want to understand I do not want to win any quarrel.

I only mean that forum had a greatly higher quantity of higher-quality conversation under HooBoy's intelligent, light-handed management than under daddy's totalitarian, pointlessly ham-fisted, essentially witless style of moderation.

And that I think the decline in quality of participation, and the steady departure of longtime substantive participants noted in a post above, is direct evidence of the chilling quality of his moderation style.

I did not mean to address you condescendingly. If I did, I apologize. For you personally I have only the highest regard, as you know.

But once again, we must reiterate that THIS site has "traffic"... What it lacks is participation.  Most of the "traffic" are merely bystanders watching the occasional "car crash".  They offer little.

Here, I think, is a good characterization of one essential difference between This forum and That Other one (I think no need to say which is which)...

One of the first interesting experiences I had in this project at Princeton was meeting great men. I had never met very many great men before. But there was an evaluation committee that had to try to help us along, and help us ultimately decide which way we were going to separate the uranium. This committee had men like Compton and Tolman and Smyth and Urey and Rabi and Oppenheimer on it. I would sit in because I understood the theory of the process of what we were doing, and so they'd ask me questions and talk about it. In these discussions one man would make a point. Then Compton, for example, would explain a different point of view. He would say it should be this way, and he would be perfectly right. Another guy would say, well, maybe, but there's this other possibility we have to consider against it.

I'm jumping! Compton should say it again! So everybody is disagreeing, all around the table. Finally, at the end, Tolman, who's the chairman, would say, “Well, having heard all these arguments, I guess it's true that Compton's argument is the best of all, and now we have to go ahead."

It was such a shock to me to see that a committee of men could present a whole lot of ideas, each one thinking of a new facet, while remembering what the other fellow said, so that, at the end, the decision is made as to which idea was the best - summing it all up without having to say it three times. So that was a shock. These were very great men indeed.
