  1. Hi Shax,

I was in Da Nang for 12 days last month and the number one app for meeting guys was the HeeSay (formerly BLUED) app.

The ratio of available guys when compared to Grindr was 200% more found in the HeeSay app.

The Hornet app had hardly any people posting.

    Good luck and enjoy

  2. TIT - This Is Thailand - contradictions and always changing of the mind

I read somewhere else that there are approximately 6.000 marijuana shops across Thailand and then all of the related upstream businesses (farms, cultivation, distributors, equipment, etc.).  All of these will be interrupted and many people put out of work.  Then there will be the above mentioned loss of income and related taxes to the government.

In addition, with the government wanting to tax us "residents" (those of us who live here more than 180 days) - you wonder if this current government is trying to hurt its economy with the elimination of the marijuana industry and ability to attract foreigners who want to live here without this new additional tax burden and tax reporting....

Pattaya traffic is only a problem if you are on a songtaew, it turns left at the Bali Hai Overpass and gets stuck in traffic at the lead up to marine hotel

I had to go into Pattaya city from Jomtien twice last week due to birthday celebration activities.

One time by songtaew (bahtbus) and as you wrote the traffic was jammed all the way up to where the songtaew starts for the return trip back to Jomtien (near the temple) - but now they are restricting 2nd road in many places from Boyztown for minor construction sites (we counted 6 of them) that restrict the 3 lane traffic down to 1 lane.  So, you get the DOUBLE nightmare of part 1 (normal) + part 2 (new due to redoing already completed construction).

For the 2nd trip we went by car and did as you said to turn right - so we avoided the above mentioned part 1 (normal) delay - but because we were going to a birthday dinner in Wongamat - we encountered all of the part 2 redoings of already completed construction traffic jams....

Does the mayor of Pattaya city every have to drive around in this traffic nightmare?

Understand your dislikes but doesn't Pattaya have horrendous traffic and crowds (second only to Bangkok according to tourism report from government this week)?

    Very correct what you wrote.

I try to only venture into Pattaya city from Jomtien 1 time per week - as that never ending traffic is so frustrating.  And most of it is because of the NEVER ending road construction on roads that have already completed their road works months earlier.

  5. Hello Olddaddy,

I flew on Thai Vietjet Air directly from BKK Suvarnabhumi airport to Da Nang airport - flight time a little more than 1.5 hours.

I rented an AirBnB for 12 days directly on the My Khe beach with an amazing unobstructed view of the beach, city, sea, and mountains from the 22nd floor balcony.

On average, the daily temperature was 3 to 4 degrees cooler - mostly because the winds coming in from the South China Sea.

    Enjoy.

I may try Vietnam I guess

Olddaddy - I escaped the water gun fights of Songkran to Vietnam and I had a great time.

I was in lovely Da Nang on the South China Sea for 12 days and it was great.

I used the local gay tour guide services of Lê anh - a cute fun guy (no sex - as I did not ask as I made separate arrangements for that as my Heesay app |formerly BLUED| was always FULL with meet requests).

I asked him this morning if I can share his contact details here and he said yes.

    Line and Whatsapp

    Grindr and Heesay (formerly BLUED)

Enjoy Da Nang as I found the prices to be 20% less than in Pattaya due to the poor performing Vietnamese currency (VND Dong).

I loved the Oral Academy, as the guys were very well endowered and quite a mouthful!

yes I agree 100% - there was one Oral Academy guy that I wanted to off and take home at all costs.

I asked the owner to please help me make it happen.  So, when the model finished his work I sat with him at the front part of the bar - near where the entrance is.  He did not speak any English but the "woman" next to him did.  So, I had to tell the woman all the details about what I wanted from him.  She replied to me - Excuse me, but I am his wife - I send him here so that all of you can look at him - he is my baby - and he will only do what I tell him.  She said, if you want him then you need to off the both of us - as a husband and wife team.  I declined the offer as I wanted him ALL for myself.

In my 9 years of working and living in Budapest - this type of above situation manifested itself more than one time.  Many of the wives were punting out their husbands to bring in more income (bacon).  I always found it amazing that the wives were never jealous.  I became VERY close with one of these types of straight guys and I actually got to know the wife who liked me because she did not see me as a threat to their relationship.  I saw her husband for 4 years - but in year 3.5, he betrayed her and used my name as his alibi.  One night she called me frantically at home looking for her husband (he told her that he was with me giving me a massage) and instead he was out with another woman.  I was so angry at him for using me as an alibi and not even telling me about it.

One of my favourite bars in Europe, Action Bar, has long closed - that was the Budapest highlight that I miss. It had live sex shows, interactive "oral academy" on Friday nights with bar patrons sucking off performers on the bar floor, and plenty of rentable guys. That's long gone, and nothing has emerged instead. Men's days at Rudas baths used to be a riot in the 2000s, but they are very very very tame now.

Yes - Budapest's hey day was when the Action Bar was in its FULL glory.  I lived in Budapest for many years and I went to the Action Bar almost every weekend.  In addition to what you write above, on Thursday nights they had "Meet your Escort" night where you could meet many of the escorts that  you would see in Hunqz or others who did not advertise.  It was fun to meet them outside of the bedroom.

Ironically, the former owner of the Action Bar is here as a retiree in Pattaya.

While I love low season, the Complex has lost 2 bars in the last 2 weeks (Lambada and BC Bar). It's likely they won't be the last to shut up shop. There simply isn't enough expats and/or tourists to support 30+ bars in the complex.

I was in the Complex the other night and I noticed that DoubleShot was also closed.

    Is it temporary or permanent?

As I've gotten older I find that I no longer seek out guys with glorious bodies or prettiest faces. Perfectly willing to settle for attractive young men who offer affection and intimacy sans the attitude games. Nevertheless fully appreciate why others do flock to Jupiter.

I say amen to what you wrote above.

That is why I chose to retire in Asia and not Europe or the USA - where the attitude games are a daily ongoing frustration.

Pattaya City has invested 30 million baht in buying six new toilet trucks to accommodate tourists, elderly, and disabled people, especially during events.

Mr. Manoch Nongyai, the Deputy Mayor of Pattaya, proudly announced the initiative on April 25th, 2024, after the city received three out of the six new vehicles.

He stated that these new vehicles will be added to the existing 3-vehicle fleet. Previously, Pattaya relied on just three older mobile toilet trucks, with some having been in service for many decades. The bulky size of the old vehicles made it difficult to park them in areas with limited space. The growing number of tourists, particularly during major events, further necessitated the need for expanded restroom facilities, Mr. Manoch added.

The newly acquired mobile toilets feature a compact design, making them suitable for navigating tight spaces. Two of the six vehicles come with units specifically dedicated to elderly or people with disabilities as they are equipped with hydraulic lifts. They also offer over six restrooms for both genders.

Meanwhile, the other four toilet trucks come with standard units with two restrooms each for men and women. The city has invested over 30 million baht into the project, Mr. Manoch stated.

For now, the city will deploy the three trucks they received at Walking Street, the area near the Pattaya City water pump station, and Central Beach when events are not taking place.

Deputy Mayor Manoch is confident that the city will receive the remaining three toilet trucks in May of 2024. He expected that the initiative will significantly improve restroom accessibility for tourists and residents in Jomtien and Pattaya beaches.

    Pattaya launches electric baht-buses

    image.jpeg.71df6aa335ed0399b67ff06df8165372.jpeg

As part of the project’s strategy to curb carbon emissions, the electric pickup trucks will undergo trial service as fixed-route public transportation vehicles from April 2024 to December 2025. Operating along the “Route 4,” these twelve electric vehicles will shuttle passengers from the Bali Hai Pier Parking Lot in South Pattaya to the Bang Lamung District Office.

Wow - I am now living here for 18 months and I was not aware that there are several Pattaya baht bus routes.  Above is mentioned, "Operating along the Route 4..."

So, I queried Google and sure enough there are many routes - here is the source article: https://www.pattayaunlimited.com/getting-around-pattaya/

with a link to a custom Google map, image below:

    Pattaya_Baht_Bus_Routes_map.jpg.7df7f281d23da51628adbfed0ba15617.jpg

Prior to reading this article I was only aware of the Jomtien & Pattaya route and the Beach Road & 2nd Road Loop routes.

The above map implies that there are in fact 8 routes = wow....

Everyday we learn a new thing....
