Scott, As far as I know the owners of The Corner Bar went back to the USA ,can't remember their names lovely guys ,seem to be a father & son but they were there 2009-2011, bought it off another American guy who was also a nice social guy, fantastic guys and great bar 💙👍👍

Neal died April 2014 ,who used to own a Go Go  ( can't remember the name) died it's rumoured on a plane back to America,he was around 180kg and used to own another gay forum board which I believe still operates.

Monty who owned various businesses in around Sunee always reminded me of Fagin in Oliver Twist, often street type guys he had around his bars , he ended up dying in 2013 in Pattaya ( there were some rumours it was chicken poisoning delivered by another bar owner😂) and I believe he  is buried in a temple somewhere.

Another guy (john) was a real real character, from England originally he was a regular on gay forums I think he had the handle LMtu  ? Or similar a real character, you new guys would of loved him ,he would of found you ,he would be walking around Sunee Plaza a lot ,a very very  funny guy , life of the party 😂

But I always checked my pockets after shaking his hand 😂

There was a lot lot more "characters" in that era 💚

Crabby/Michael was the owner of Corner Bar back then; the name of his younger partner was Thomas, but they were not father & son and they  did return to USA.

Michael bought Corner Bar from a man by the name of Gary.

Regarding LMTU (Let Me Tell You) there were those who admired him and others who loathed him. He died a painful death from a form of throat cancer.

Neal did die on a plane on the way to USA .

Of course, that’s an over-simplification because health & finances definitely play a part in overall happiness. Given most of the members here are avid travelers, that indicates the overall health is good and everyone is comfortable enough financially to enjoy some international travel.

Not so sure about that! Some may have wealth but not health; others have health but no wealth; and many are in the middle. They are financially ok but not in the best of health.

Perhaps the twin brother is gay too.  I heard the possibility is very high for twins.

I am a twin and gay, but my twin is straight; and a twin friend is gay but his twin in straight. Likely because we are not identical twins which means we do not share the same DNA unlike identical twins.

Back to original: in fact many of such places in Thai suburbia often have 2 ´MIN´ tips (the Thai simply take that as the price to pay, MIN means nothing to them), for hard and soft. What you describe clearly is ´soft´. Have not still yet been back to TH since covid outbreak, but just before in such places the tip was mostly 500/1000 for soft/hard. That 1000 would indeed include ´everything´

Quotes of some spoilt JoU-TIPah guys etc have nothing to do with massageshops. And again: really, there is no clear sign (like the recent raise for postage stamps) that ´the fees/tips go up´. There is also no general listing nor tariff for such still semi-legal activities in TH. I think British railways call that-in their own quest of trying to get as much as possible out of their clients: ´what the market will bear´

    What are JoU-TIPah guys?

I guess you have to have " interests' or hobbies , or you perhaps you may have a boyfriend or a lot of friends you enjoy being with ?

I'm more unfortunately introvert ,I also suffer from depression sometimes .

Perhaps if I didn't go there to retire with that mindset of looking only for sex and actually looked for other things in my lifestyle it would be ok, but I didn't those few months, I just sat all day at beer bars

I do have a boyfriend(s) and do go to the gym but have no interests or hobbies. I like to socialize with some friends and do enjoy the bar scene, but only at night. I have been coming here for 20 years and now made Pattaya my home. Just another old farang who enjoys sex whenever I can.

  6. It wasn't until about 1925 that Edwin Hubble (Hubble Telescope) published his findings that other galaxies existed beyond our Milky Way Galaxy. Who would have believed there were billions of other galaxies!!  And unlikely that anyone will ever travel to any of them much less travel to the nearest star.

Coming up to the big 60 next year !

Time has gone quick ... unfortunately 😂

Also I will need to see the dentist probably in Pattaya or Bangkok, I need a Root canal unfortunately and a crown on top of that ,any personal recommendation on a good dentist?

Dr. Tapasit at AdenZa Dental in Pattaya is highly recommended. He does have another dentist who is an expert at root canals. Dr. Tappasit spent many years in the USA and speaks like an American.

  8. Singapore Air offers flights from NYC/Newark with only PE and Biz Class seating; no Economy except on the leg from Singapore to Bangkok. I don't recall that @tm-nyc specified only Economy. That said, there are some flights with multiple stops, via Europe, which include Economy seating.  @tm-nyc does not provide enough info to give any good estimates as to costs, such as one way, round trip, departing date/return date. Round trip prices in PE can be quite reasonable at $1500 all depending on the dates. Economy about $1100.  Hope this helps.

I am looking at a return to Thailand from New York in September.  I'd say that the airfares I am seeing are 'challenging' so it's good to hear that things are opening up elsewhere.

EVA has always been my default option but I understand that there is current requirement that transit passengers at Taoyuan Airport (TPE) show a Covid PCR test just to change planes.  This is a complication that I am definitely trying to avoid.

You may wish to try Singapore Air with flights in Premium Economy and Business from JFK  and Newark  to Bangkok.

  10. I have often read from posters that their masseur was pleased, very pleased, overjoyed, happy, thrilled,  etc with their tips (no matter how low). However,  in all my experiences I have never received anything other than, "thank you" even though my tip was 1000 Baht for a massage and a happy ending. Sometimes a good massage, sometimes a mediocre massage, sometimes a happy ending and sometimes a not so happy ending.
