I let Prime Day pass so today took advantage of early Black Friday sale on Amazon and bought this:
I couldn't see the value of a Chromebook over a laptop. My bad experience with my old Ipad kept me from buying a new one. So I hope this laptop does the job.It didn't cost much at $239. -
I have a reservation at the Dandy Dan. I checked prices yesterday, and my same room would be about $400 US higher if I booked it now. I'll check the rates at the Courtyard and see how they compare.
Although I love a lavish breakfast, I can sometimes settle for good coffee.
UPDATE: I did switch to the Marriott Courtyard downtown. The price was quite similar to the Dandy Da-an.

My first exposure to a foreign toilet was in Mae Sai ,up near the border with Myanmar. I had urgent diarrhea and finally found a restroom. It was a hole in the floor, and no toilet paper. I used it because I had to, but after I asked my Thai friend to help me find a place that sold toilet paper. It was not easy, but he found it!

Good point. Not normally, though I use a moist baby wipe afterwards, which sort of counts!
I hope that you don't flush them, even if the box says "flushable."
PS: I think the site should show many more examples of clean butt holes so everyone gets the point!

Whatever its faults, this website does allow some human/gay connection. I would miss it if it ceased operating.

I don't think Biden should be visiting Israel right now.
Well, I am glad that he made it safely home. Not sure what being there in person accomplished. The Jordan trip would have been helpful.
I hear they had to stop Kamala Harris from measuring the drapes in the Oval Office.

Forgive my ignorance, but how does a Chromebook compare to a laptop?

What do you want to use it for? Email and web surfing? Gaming? Work? That will influence my suggestions. I would stick to recognizable brand. My go to brands are Asus and HP.
Something like this maybe?
My Ipad does not do well on the internet. Pages don't load or load very slowly. I realize that may be a low wi-fi input, but my home wi-fi produces the same result. I thought a laptop would be better for surfing the internet.

Hi
I want to buy a relatively inexpensive laptop for traveling, but I want a good one. It's Prime Day on Amazon, but they are mostly brands I have never heard of. Is there a tech savvy guy or two here who could look and advise on what is the best choice?
Here's what I thought might be good:
Thanks for your help!

are the bathhouses/saunas doing something to protect their customers?
Better question: Are the customers doing anything to protect themselves?

I never eat breakfast when I travel on holiday, because I go out partying every night till dawn, I am usually too tired to eat breakfast and eating before sleeping is not healthy anyways. So if a fancy breakfast is included in the room rate, it's always a waste.
Great! All the more for me! I'm too old to party every night until dawn.

I stayed at the Sukhothai a couple of times on my first few trips to Bangkok. Impeccable service and very comfortable. But the location was a little awkward to me for getting around on foot. MRT not too far though which helps.
I agree that Le Meridien has a very good breakfast and decent rooms. The spread at the Crowne Plaza always impressed me as well although I haven't been there in a while. I would imagine that the W hotel probably has a pretty big breakfast. The photos online look good. No one seems to talk about the W much though. Location is basically on the corner of Sathorn and Narathiwas - around the corner from Chong Nonsi BTS.
I've read some praise for the breaksfast at The Standard hotel at the MahaNakhon tower. Of course given their rates it should be!
Pre-pandemic we stayed at the W. It's very nice and the buffet breakfast was superb.

I am also booking directly for my Thailand trip in January. I like to stay in different hotels and get a different experience. So far, I have booked two hotels, with two to go.

If price is not really a factor, the 5-star Sukhothai Hotel on Sathorn has amazing breakfast buffets.
I did book this hotel for my last weekend. The price was lower as they are doing maintenance. But still expensive.

One advantage of Le Meredien is plenty of towels. 4 bath towels in room!
I looked into booking the Le Meridien for the first week of January. It's $300 US a night including breakfast. Yet when I used the Marriott website to book it, they responded that I needed to choose another guarantee method. I have no idea what they are talking about.

The novel, Bangkok 8, is well worth reading for Thailand fans. John Burdett wrote it.

I guess what the bill should be. If it is close to that, I just pay it without further inquiry.
