Yeah, definitely true. I've had quite a few encounters at Soi13 where I started chitchatting with a guy, some touching and even kissing and then when offering to go to a cabin, he would say: "Oh, but I'm done for the night...just waiting for my friend to finish".
That used to be my go-to website for my first couple of trips to Asia. From around 2013 though I started using more travelgayasia.com (now just travelgay.com) as I  felt that it had more info and  user reviews than utopia, plus the website layout was much better. Once that website decided to go global and  not just focus on East and Southeast Asia, around 2018-2019, it started missing a lot of places and saw that the number of reviews went also down. (like the Nadam spa in Saigon that i mention in my other post which is not listed in there, even though it's the most popular sauna atm).
As for utopia-asia, I rarely visit it anymore. The UI feels prehistoric (it hasn't changed since I first visited it in 2008). I imagine their website traffic is way below their peak years.
If we are talking about Taipei specifically, according to my Taiwan friends, Soi13 is still pretty much the only player in the area (including New Taipei and Taoyuan) and that's why they could raise their price. What the international gay travel websites are missing in Taiwan is the info about the outdoor cruising areas, which even with the high number of love hotels and MTVs are still quite popular in there, including with the young generation. You find them only on local websites (in Mandarin) or from local guys.

Someone wrote here that it's the best sauna in Asia. I'd say maybe it's the best sauna in the world (Brazilian garoto saunas excluded)!
Two non sexual things striked me in the first few minutes.
One, everything including the floor is so squeaky clean, everyone is barefooted (maybe footware is prohibited).
Two, there are unlimited free light drinks.
Lots of young eye candies; didn't notice any attitude.
Although, as usual, many walking around stone-faced zombie-like, there's also talk to be seen and heard. I guess it's mostly because friends come together, but - for example - an old local striked up a not-hitting-on-u conversation with me in English at the hot water pool (it's not really a jaccuzi). Better atmosphere.
The best feature was the dark room, darkest and most interactive I've ever been to. Can't see a thing, no matter how long I stayed there. At some point I was taken care of by 2 guys. Only after I tried to decipher with my hands who was doing what, I found out that I'm actually part of a fivesome...
The dark 'room' is actually a corridor, with 5-6 very small wooden cubicles opening on it's right side. For some reason, two guys making out prefer to do it in the corridor, so most cubicles r empty. By 19:15 there was a jam, everyone stuck together with intense action.
Only when I finally got to the end of the corridor for the third time (still erect), I found out that the last cubicle had no back side. It opened into a parallel corridor, which was just as dark and almost empty. I guess most patrons aren't aware of its existence. It's much more conducive to 'normal' dark action.

There are plenty of handsome Pinoy guys available in Manila. But I do not recommend the bars or macho dancer places. They are not at all like the bars and go-gos in Thailand. And the massage places are even worst when compared to TH!!
Instead go on Grinder or Romeo where you will find guys offering massage and fun for a price, money-guys. And guys just wanting to meet a Foreign man! Again for fun and perhaps looking for a long-term relationship.
For the money-guys the fee is usually 1500-2000P (30-40 USD). For the guys just looking to meet up the rate is more like 1000P or even as low as 500P (20-10 USD). Or maybe just dinner and a bit of shopping at one of the many malls!!
While Manila is a good place to begin visiting the Philippines, I strongly suggest traveling to one of the many beautiful islands to the South. Cebu, Palawan, Leyte, Bohol. The guys are also beautiful and great to spend a day or longer with enjoying their company.

Day 1
so landed in Suvarnabhumi airport in the afternoon. Immigration was quite fast, probably about 10 minutes or so. Then took a cab to my time and trusted Le Meridien hotel. I love the hotel because its nice and no issues bringing your guest back to the room.
 
Arena Massage
I always go here first because its one of the nearest to my hotel. This time I took a grab there instead of walking, although its only less than a km. In the past i always walk there under the sun and the walk always gets me horned up and sweaty thinking of whats to come. This time I arrived freshly showered. Menu for 1h 1.5h and 2h. I'm on the plane heading back to London with 11 hours to kill so thought I'd use the time to share my thoughts on my first ever trip to Brasil. I hope it proves useful to someone who may soon be going for the first time, or anyone who cares to read it. Sorry if it's a bit long-winded but feel free to stop reading if you lose interest haha! For context I spent 5 days in SP and 4 days in Rio. Consider this trip an early 30th birthday present to myself lol.
Sao Paulo
Arriving in Guarulhous was straight-forward and without issue. Despite countless Taxi offers, I couldn't resist paying 4.40 reals for a train ticket to downtown Paulista. Plus the weather was great and I got to see the surroundings. FYI, the ticket offices for the metro only take cash or Brazilian debit cards. On average Brazilians are much better looking than your average westerner (no offence) and within an hour of landing I was already drooling over some heavenly specimens. l don't know if its the genes, the food, the weather, the mix of indingenous cultures or all of the above, but they"re clearly doing something right. Alot of Brazilians also seem to have very good teeth, both natural and veneers.
After checking in to my airbnb in Avenida Paulista, I took a shower and explored the local surroundings. In the sunshine Paulista Avenue really is a sight to behold. I'd made prior arrangements with a hunk from garotolocal, potentially risky I know, but along with all the positive reviews and the security measures at the Airbnb I decided to go for it. Despite not having any issues myself, I would recommend sticking to saunas initially until you have some trustworthy connections. A few Brazilians here told me about the potential risks of using sites, even trusted ones. If you must use sites, check reviews, instagram, only fans, etc for evidence of an online presence. I booked an airbnb that was ok with visitors so I would have no awkward issues. Being super paranoid, I also removed any potentially dangerous items out of sight - sharp cooking utensils, irons, broomsticks etc I would also recommend hiding your passport and other belongings or putting them in a safe if available. I also let the garoto know beforehand that the apartement has security and is full of cameras for both our protection just in case they try anything dodgy. Security out of the way,  Mr X arrives. Also FYI, if you're going to be 'passivo', make sure its clean down there as I've noticed a fair few Brazilian GPs have a habit of checking the condom after sex haha. Brazilians in general tend to be very clean and hygienic, the ones I came across at least. All of them to smell great and use mouthwash etc, especially if they smoke.
The next day after doing a few touristy bits, I decided to head to Lagoa. If you're a foody and enjoy the arts, culture, restaurants, bars, museums etc then you really cannot beat SP.  I enjoy sex but it wasn't the only reason for my visit to Brasil. Beyond Paulisita, SP is not the most aesthetically pleasing city but its full of charm and has something unique to do around every corner. I wouldn't have it any other way. Check out Ibirapuera park on a satuday morning/afternoon to see lots of white topless, hunky, sweaty middle-class brasilians going for a morning run lmao.
I was really nervous heading into Lagoa as I'd never been to any kind of sauna before and had no idea what to expect. I got changed into a towel and began to explore. At first it wasn't explicity obvious to me who was a GP and who wasn't (except for the guys stroking their dicks in a corner for all to see). Without trying to brag - I promise  - I am in pretty decent shape and was approached by guys who either thought I was a GP, or they knew I was a client like them but wanted to try their luck regardless. Knowing Spanish is better than knowing English, but again invest in learning portuguese. Plus, I get the vibe Brazilians don't really like it when you expect them to speak Spanish - so yeah, learn Portuguese. It will also make your experience 10x more enjoyable. In terms of Lagoa, due to previous posts on here I had lowered my expectations. However as it was my first time I had nothing to compare it to and went with an open mind. I was pleasantly surprised, there was a mix of everything from muscular brazilian jocks, to bodybuilders on steroids to athletic swimmer body guy next door types, to slim twinks. There really was something for everyone. If you're into pure muscle then it doesn't beat 117 in Rio (will discuss Rio in a separate post hopefully) but you'll still find a few decent studs here to make it worthwhile. I am quite shy and had no intention of approaching anyone. The best I could muster was a smile and an extended gaze when walking past someone hot. I got myself a drink and made my way upstairs and awkwardly sat in a small side area where some straight porn was playing on a big-screen TV. One or two average GPs approached but I politely declined. Then after about 15 minutes, I made eye contact with a stunning muscular beauty, dark brown maroon skin, about 6 ft 2, looks around 25 - 30 years old, abs with some fur that could literally grate cheese, beefy pecs that you could squeeze and kiss for eternity, perfectly proportioned arms - amazing. I was sold at this point and there was no going back. This guy is very smooth. Some Brazilians guys really are naturally very charming. He is top and asks for 200 reals. I agree without hesitation and we make our way to a room. Again I'll leave the nitty gritty to your imagination but lets just say he took my number and we had another a session the following day haha Brazil really is amazing! After the session he heads home as he has a fair way to go. I go back to the bar feeling a bit more relaxed. I'm approached by an athletic mixed guy, not my type at all but he's persistent and I'm happy to entertain his chat. Btw I am being deliberately vague as to the personal details of the guys purely out of respect and their discretion. Long story short, me and the guy end up chatting for about an hour like two old friends. We're of a similar age and have similar interests. He's actually straight and only does sauna work to help support his family. I tell him that we're buddies and a programa isn't going to happen but I give him some money to help him out with some personal things. We exchange numbers and he becomes my defacto tour guide of SP over the next few days. He even drives me to a (straight) whorehouse in downtown Republica, very seedy lol. Another word of caution, especially in the context of GPs both inside and outside the sauna, they will always have a sob story and will continue to beg for your financial aid. It did become really onerous (especially in Rio) so just be careful and don't let people take advantage of you. I had to block one or two GPs from Rio because the begging just got more and more ridiculous, not to mention rude. It was clear they were only interested in money. A part of me feels sorry for them as life is tough over there. I went to a friend's place in Ipanema and his living conditions honestly broke my heart. I believe he was paying alot per month for the luxury of a shoe-box room with a shared bathroom and toilet. Tbf the view of Ipanema beach was great. I'm told by Brazilians that the average monthtly salary in Brazil is around 1000 to 1500 reals for blue collar work, and around 3000 reals for a working professional. Lots of them seem to have side hustles to supplement their income. From a money perspective we in the west sometimes don't realise just how fortunate we are.  On the other hand, there is a correct way of asking for things - to be clear I have no issue helping out GPs in genuine need if it's done with respect and good grace - don't take the piss and try to take advantage of me. Any decent GP asking for money outside of their services will do so respectfully and is often embarrased to ask. They'll often say something like 'i'd appreciate anything you can help me with for X reason etc' 
 In terms of GPs, I made some amazing new connections/friends in Brazil but only a small minority of these are not underpinned by a financial dynamic.  Yes you can get free sex online, at bars, beaches etc but obviously its way more effort and is not guaranteed. Furthermore, I am told (by Brazilians) that Grindr in Brazil is becoming increasingly dangerous so again be careful using it.
The following day and another trip to Lagoa - after some more touristy stuff. This time I've got my GP buddy with me as a wingman haha. Obviously I will tip him lol. Today I take a seat in the bar and watch some football (soccer) on the big screen upstairs. Brazil's under 21s are playing. I nip downstairs quickly to check something in my locker when I see the most delicious slice of white Brazilian hunk known to man. Furthermore, make sure their building has security cameras and a concierge. I'm not really a smoker, but we had some weed at his place, some drinks and a bit of foreplay all before I headed off to the coach station to catch a bus to Rio!
Another word of caution, there are young guys on Avenida Paulista riding around on bicyles stealing phones, bags, hats etc. I saw it happen to a gringo right outside Mcdonalds so be sure to keep your valuables out of sight and secure. I used a fanny pack which works pretty well. If you really need to use your phone, e.g. to check on an uber etc - do it quickly and keep your wits about you, ideally go into a shop, restaurant, shopping area etc. If none of these are nearby then stand up against a wall so you have no blindspots. You will get into the habit of being careful with your phone in Brazil. It's such a contrast to London or other big western cities where you can safely be on your phone at every given moment in practically any given location. Most places take card but I would recommend having some cash to hand, especially because ATM/cash machines in SP are few and far between and they tend to close around 8pm (the ones inside the banks). Also most GPs only take Cash or PIX ( a Brazilian money transfer service which only Brasilians can use). Lastly, unless you want to destroy your Uber rating, don't slam the Uber doors lmao. The Ubers are also dirttt cheap out there.
To sum up, I had a blast in SP and will defo be back either this year or early next year God willing. I hope somebody finds this report useful, when I get some time I will try and do one for Rio. Currently waiting for a connecting flight to London in Lisboa, damn they have some seriously hot Portuguese immigration officers here haha.

Because I am switching from a temporary employment contract via an agency to a permanent contract directly with my employer, I had some holiday time left to use before April 1st. What better way than to spent that holiday time in LOS? Only a short stay this time. Two weeks in Bangkok and Pattaya. 
 
ARRIVING
After a few days in Dubai with an old colleague and friend I was flying to Bangkok and arrived yesterday. I had read some comments on this forum (and messages on English language Thai news sites) about enormous waiting times for immigration at BKK Airport and long queues for a taxi into town. But thank god that was not the case yesterday. Immigration was cleared in about 10 minutes and outside I could walk straight to an available taxi. No lines at all. 
 
HOTEL
Hotel I booked this time is the Quarter Silom Hotel, in the same soi as Tawan bar. They had good offer and the pictures looked good. Indeed the hotel is very modern. Rooms are big enough for my liking. The design is a bit dark. I like the led lighting that you can control the colour from.

I arrived at 2pm but unfortunately my room was not ready yet. I had to wait about 1hr for my room to come available. Downsides: my room has a connection door to neighbouring room. Because of that some noise from that other room is coming into my room. But more concerned about what the neighbours might hear coming from my room when I have a visitor... And like more and more hotels you need keycard to use the elevator. No chance in letting a Grindr boy come directly to your room. Need to pick him up from downstairs, with staff probabaly noticing. But also probabaly not caring. 

 
FIRST NIGHT 
I was tired from missing out on a night sleep because of flight times. After a quick nap I decided I wanted to have a look at the Patpong boybars. Curious about the new Dreamboys location. First time trip report- please be kind. 
Arrived Thursday night/Friday morning. Flight was uneventful and we landed at BKK at about midnight. Took about 20 mins through immigration and bags were already rolling out. Picked up my bag and went to get a cab. Stall number 46 was my guy, and away we went. The driver was hauling ass most of the ride, and then slowed down to a crawl on the mostly empty highway. I realized he didn't know how to get to The Raya- (thanks Vinapu), despite me showing him the address in Thai. I whip out google maps and then direct the ride for the final 20 mins. Upon arrival, I suggest the driver should pay me since I did the navigation. He didn't think this was quite as funny as I did, but I tipped him well so all was forgiven. Checked in, checked the apps, and passed out.
Friday- I decided to walk around to see what had changed since the pandemic. I walked past Green Massage to see if my guy was still there. Part 16: Trip to the south... Going to Phuket
After a view nice days in Pattaya is was time to leave for Phuket. I've worked and lived in Khao Lak and Phuket for about 5 months a few years ago and I was curious how Phuket came out of the covid period. U-Tapao Airport is very small with at this moment only one or two flight a day. Probabaly because of this, ALL restaurants and bars were closed at the airport. Before and afyer security. So if you fly from there, maybe good to have some drink with you and drink it before you go trough security check. You can go trough security just 15 minutes before boarding time as the airport is so small and nos busy at all. 
I wouldn't be afraid of airlines cancelling flight from U-Tapao because of lack of passengers. Both flights that departed from the airport when I was there looked well occupied. My own flight to Phuket, with a propellor plane, was almost completely full.
Flying with Bangkok Airways means a meal/snack and drinks are included. What I actually needed as everything at the airport itself was closed. 

Phuket Airport (and the rest of the touristic areas on the island) are known for their taxi maffia. The government is trying to do something about it. There are now maximum taxi fares in place from the airport. Every taxi tooth and booth is now actually charging the same: 800 baht from airport to Patong. You can also follow signs "taxi meter" to the very end of the parking area. If you're lucky there is a taxi meter waiting there. As that mind turn out a bit cheaper. While I was in my way to the taxi meter parking, a drives offered me the ride for 650 baht which I agreed on. I also checked Bolt. They charge around 500 baht but Bolt taxis are officially not allowed to pick up customers at Phuket Airport and I wanted to avoid any nasty situations. 
I booked the Best Western Patong Hotel. Because it walking distance from Paradise Complex but on a more quiet road. And it has a rooftop pool for some afternoon chilling. And for 790 baht per night it was priced good.

I'm evening it was time to head to Paradise Complex to see what's left from the gay area. In one street good old Zag Club is still there, even bigger than before. Next to it is G Club. Both have drag shows that you can watch while sitting on their terraces. As they do the show on the street. Zag later continues their show inside. It was very busy at Zag. Between their shows the crowd in dancing and flirting. With some shirtless staff joining in. Crowd is a good mix of falang, Asian, young and older. Everybody enjoying themself and each other... Very good and nice atmosphere.

There are two other smaller bars in the street but they actually didn't have any customers when I passed by. The good old boat bar went bankrupt and is gone. The owner of Zag Club bought most of the buildings on the street. To avoid any competition coming in. Some of the buildings he is owning are already empty for many years. They are up for sale, but apparently he doesn't want to sell to anybody planning to start a bar or club. 
Other bars, like G Club, are struggling a bit. For example: Zag is suppose to do their street show until 10pm after which G Club can start theirs, to try to get also some customers in. But Zag just continues their street show till way after 10pm, giving G Club less fair chance to take some business. The bars are next to each other, so they can't do street show at same time because music will reverberate disturbingly.

Because of the dominant presence of Zag, that club was full of people while G club only had handful customers on the terrace. If you're coming to Phuket I would suggest to also support the business in G Club a bit and don't forgot to also sit down at their terrace for a drink. If only for the cute and young owner / manager. Their streetshow will start as soon as Zag take theirs inside. 
In the road parallel of the bar street, there are a few gay massage places. Will check them out later.

On Tuesday during daytime I decided to go visit the Sanctuary of Truth. Really a beautiful and impressive place. A bit expensive to get in (500 baht entrance fee). But for this you get a guided tour for about 45 minutes / 1hr. For me, the guided tour was a bit too long. With too much and too deep explanation about the philosophy behind the temple. Why are we on earth and in what kind of society do we want to live? After the guided tour you're free to explore the temple on your own and make lots of pictures of the wood carvings.

The Sanctuary of truth 
For dinner I was meeting up with @bkkmfj2648. We ended up in French restaurants Nathan's just outside Jomtien Complex on Thappraya Road. Realy good good, nice atmosphere. They trained their staff very well. It's run by a French expat who is funny (and a bit queeny...). Had a very nice dinner. 

After dinner we went for drinks in Jomtien. Sitting at @home bar, discussing boys, life in Thailand and other stuff. Was really nice to meet up with somebody from this forum for the first time.

Exactly. It was 2500 ST for a Tawan guy. Plus off course 500 bar fee. That's 500 baht in total more than you pay in a average boybar (Patpong 2). The going rate is 2000 for the boy and 500 for the bar in Bangkok. Prices a bit higher in Tawan, Jupiter and Moonlight. 
In Pattaya prices can be a bit cheaper, but depending on where you go. 

Part 13: First night in Pattaya
Yesterday evening after dinner I made a walk in Jomtien complex. And soon I did see confirmed what others already wrote in this forum a few times: the guys trying to get you on their terraces are more on the small, slim twinky side. Not realy my regular taste. I arranged Mike Pattaya taxi service to pick me up from the airport (800 baht) and when I arrived his driver was waiting for me with a sign with my name on it. Unfortunately his car did not start. Another driver came to help. They used jumper cables to start the engine and within 10 minutes we were on our way. 
In Pattaya I always stayed close to Boyztown the precious times and actually never explored Jomtien.
Yes, I did take the songtaew to go to the gay beach (Dongtan Beach), but did not go to the Jomtien complex bars before. I decided that needed to change. And because forum members here had good experiences at The Agate, I booked my room there. Like others wrote before; I got a great deal booking directly with the hotel. Only 1000 baht per night without breakfast. Much cheaper than booking it via booking.com or Agoda.
Why I skipped the Jomtien complex till now? Probably because Boyztown could give me everything I needed. My taste of boys is more on the masculine / muscular side. And I always read that Jomtien caters more for the lovers of slim/skinny boys. But as I’m open to try new things, and if needed Boyztown is only a short ride away, I’m staying in Jomtien this time. 

First impression of Agate is very good. Friendly staff at check in and goodlooking room with comfortable bed. Since I'm in Thailand I've also had beds that were a bit on the hard side, but the bed in Agate feels good.

Yesterday was my last evening in Bangkok. I will go travels around Thailand now for a few week (up north, Pattaya, Phuket...) and will be back on Bangkok on September 23 for 5 more night before I fly home.

The evening didn't start well... It was raining hard, the roads flooded. And the hourly forecast didn't look good either.
