Not sure whether it was on this forum or another, but a few years ago there was a forum discussion on qualifying bars and grant them plaques or stars, visible for customers. Qualification could be based on the following items: - cleanliness - spaciousness - sanitary facilities - service - entertainment in general - boys - security - boy's ages - etc. Since some of our "colleagues" are in the habit at the moment of tracking/hunting down sleezy bars, they might spend their time better.

  2. I know many people aren't able to afford the frequent travels they once were to good old gay friendly Thailand. I know that my trips have been cut down drastically over the last 2 years. The airfare is to the point that I am not willing to pay to go to Thailand as much as it is much more cost effective to go to Brazil or other places. For those living in Thailand, how has the economic downturn affected your day to day life? If you were on a fixed budget, is the cost of living there really affected? For those like me that travel there, has your trips became less frequent? Do you find you spend less money when you go there? Go out less? Change the location …

At times I am amused by some of the ways people write the messages they post. Most do a good job and some try but wow. Makes you wonder how they have gotten ahead in life without the ability to spell or write a decent sentence. One prolific poster sometime writes with clarity and good structure but at other times his post can be so bad that I have a hard time understanding what he is trying to say. Makes me wonder if he always proof reads before posting what he has written. Some guys just get and "F" in spelling, grammar and sentence structure. One point is that we do a much better job than several other boards. One in particular has some writers that ar…

We have been getting a lot of emails and phone calls from returning customers and new tourists regarding the status of the flooding etc. in and around the airport and Pattaya. Much of the media both in Thailand and Internationally is incomplete, confusing and scary. So, in order to get some good info to our soon-to-be-arriving friends, we have made up a small network of "eyes and ears on the ground" to give us reports. YaYa will be posting these peiodically (a minimum of daily) on the website: www.yaya-sunee.com FLOOD REPORT is located on the homepage, bottom left. ________________________________________________________________________________________ …

It has become painfully apparent that Ms. Yingluck is over her head in the job of Prime Minister. It is also obvious that she is not the person in control. Her ministers won't even do what she tells them to do. On top of these factors is the allegation that Thaksin had to call in to get the military to assist with the flooding. This does not bode well for the country in that we are again operation with a rudderless ship. Perhaps nothing would have saved us from the flood but it certainly appears that every part of the government is running around with their heads up their asses. I know this will not float well with some of you but it seems best to bring …

Mark a date in your diaries. On October 22nd there will be one of those “must-see” and relatively rare events in Thailand – a Royal Barge Procession on the Chao Phraya river in Bangkok. 4 royal barges and 48 other barges with more than two thousand rowers and attendants all in traditional dress will proceed down the river to Wat Arun to mark the end of Buddhist Lent and to celebrate the King's 84th Birthday Year. These barges are the last of their kind in the world. The last procession was held in 2006. I have not yet seen details of how to get tickets, but they are always in great demand. Should you fail to get some for the 22nd or will not be here on that date, ther…

Around 9:30pm yesterday evening, I had an unsolicited message on gayromeo from a member I have never chatted with before, but whose cute photos I recognise as having been posted under at least a couple of different names over a few years - When I responded “nice try”, I received the following – When I pointed out that the young man in the photo claimed to be Thai and lived in Bangkok, so why would he necessarily be going anywhere at 7:10 in the morning, I received this - The whole brief episode was so ludicrous and so full of holes, I’m just amazed the guy even “tried” it on (he is one of those smaller guys who claims to be XL). This morning, unsurpri…

I spend a ridiculous amount of time on Flirt-for-free. One thing that I notice is that most of the Russian "models" lack polite social skills. If you're not paying they wont even talk when asked a direct question. This confirms (at least for me) that Russians are basically gruff, rough and not particularly polite people. Those I've met in person had similar behavior. Any thoughts on this?

From time to time, I find it interesting to look back over the topics raised in the previous six months or so to find out those which have attracted the most readers. The briefest review shows that 5 posts have generated well over 2,000 hits, with the one titled ‘Obsessions Night Club Pattaya’ gaining the most. The others are (in no particular order) – - 10 Lessons Learned by a Traveler to Gay Thailand - Using the hotel safe - GAY BLOGS - A visit to Super A GoGo Bar, Solid GoGo, Thai Boy Massage, etc. So, as a wild generalisation, it seems that the topics on this Board of most interest are those with a nice mix of information about Thailand – …

There was a thread more than a year ago - "How much money can I carry when exiting Thailand?" This eventually touched on the subject of the importance of anyone with assets in Thailand having a Thai will. I had one drawn up several years ago, with two members of my family nominated as the beneficiaries. They are aware and have signed affidavits that any funds out of Thailand go into the pot with any other income I have to be disposed of in accordance with a master will in the UK. I did it this way because I was informed that Thai wills must be made out to individual/s and can not be made out to the estates of deceased persons in other countries. An issue recently cam…

There’s another interesting article on the www.fridae.com news section about a new book, one of a series, titled Queer Bangkok: 21st Century markets, Media and Rights. This is the fifth volume in the Queer Asia series published by the Hong Kong University Press. The lead writer is Peter A. Jackson, an Australian academic who specialises in Thai cultural history; the history of sexuality and sexual cultures; Buddhism and religious studies. Various ‘experts’ are brought together to “piece together a picture of how Thailand’s politics, economics, art, society and views of sex affect the LGBT people who actually live there as opposed to just pass through.” The review …
