I understand but at least you have a partner with whom you can  share difficult times.  I am thousands of miles away from mine, with no chance of seeing him for months. And anyway, for many people in our age group, isolation has its own problems when it comes to mental health issues like loneliness. Some are desperate for company.

FYI - some of us were just at Telephone pub bar Restaurant .  If and to the extent Telephone ____________ is a pub/bar, all signs are being removed/covered.  It is a bar no longer.
But Telephone: The Restaurant - and I assume Balcony: The Restaurant - will continue operating (until they can't).  At least that's the plan now.
So it's ok to go to Telephone.  Soi 4 is not closing.
Also - Telephone and Balcony have removed a bunch of tables so it you can practice social distancing.  And the staff are as cute as ever.

I agree with you Londoner about the price of entry for young Thais, but I think there could be another factor. I have sometimes mentioned the Sansuck Sauna to boys that I gave offed but have found that they were not aware of its existence and the possibilities for them. In the gay bars and gogos I do not recall ever seeing advertising material promoting it. Saunas, bars, gogos and the gay beach concessions could work together to foster a more vibrant gay scene in Bkk, Pattaya and the other resorts.

It is important to note that the concept of coyote dancers at Thai disco/clubs is different than go-go bars in Silom etc. The dancers are there to entertain on stage (and most will allow guests a quick grope for a drink/tip) and circle/mingle around and drink with guests at their tables afterwards. Often they will be offered drinks (and tips) at a table and they will drink, talk and be friendly (socialize) with the guests (and encourage them to drink more). If the chemistry is right and with a generous offer I certainly think some coyote dancers will go with you, but more diplomacy /a more discreet approach will be required. First establish a friendly connection/vibe and make the guy interested in you and then discreetly let him know your intentions and offer. I'm sure some dancers will decline (politely) as many are presumably straight or not up for paid sex, but some may be up for some add. easy money. Give it a try!
One additional note/a word of caution: as Fake and other similar venues are primarily for Thai guests the dancers may have very limited English language skills and there is a high chance that you will find yourself unable to communicate with them (unless you speak/understand thai).

My next enjoyable meet-up was with a guy I have known for 3 years. He lives in Dipolog City, on Mindanao, and is 19 yo. We have often talked about meeting there but this trip I invited him to come to Cebu City. He quickly agreed and even suggested taking the over-night ferry rather and flying from Dipolog to Cebu. Cost me 2500PHP, USD50, for his trip.
He turned out to be Joy!! Lots of energy, speaks great English, and is most engaging. He was nicely built but not any hunk. He has met several Daddies in the  PH, including some Filipino ones. He did have concerns about HIV and said we had to use Condoms. Not only for fucking but sucking. That all went away after we meet and he made Dad HAPPY HAPPY!!! To bad he could only stay for three days. But we did an afternoon of site-seeing. He is studying Tourism in College. I enjoyed seeing some places in Cebu city I had not been to previously. And he was really into Selfies!! We hired a taxi for the afternoon. It cost 1000PHP, about USD20. The driver took us to places and then waited for us there. Actually taxis in the Philippines are CHEAP!! The flag drop is 40PHP, USD1, and it seldom costs more that 100PHP, USD2, to get any place in the City.
One day we went out to the new SM Seaview. It is now the biggest mall in the Philippines. I was taking him Ice Skating. But after getting there and his seeing people skating and falling he got "cold feet". Still a nice afternoon and a chance to buy him some gifts. Pasalubong!! He did have one difficult experience. He wanted to take Chicharron, fired pork skins, back to Dipolog City. He found a shop near that the Condo what sold them and bought 5 bags. But when he got to the ferry they made him throw them away. Problem with the Asia Swine Fever!!  But he took it all in stride!!
Those are the kind of Filipino guys I enjoy the most!!

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety disagrees.  And they have numbers to back it up in the U.S. because speed limits were reduced to conserve oil but then allowed to rise again -- and fatalities increased.
"An IIHS study examined longer-term changes. During 1993-2017, a 5 mph increase in the maximum state speed limit was associated with an 8 percent increase in fatality rates on interstates and freeways and a 3 percent increase on other roads (Farmer, 2019). In total, there were an estimated 37,000 more traffic fatalities during these years than would have been expected if maximum speed limits in 1993 had remained in place. In 2017 alone, there were more than 1,900 additional deaths."

    5. The Green Massage (2)
So the next day I went there again. The head/neck/shoulder massage great same same like yesterday.
I told the masseur to massage a tid softer, what he did.
After the 60 minutes we went upstairs and the masseur told me to shower.
They have proper rooms with a proper shower and a proper massage table with a hole (although I must say I almost prefer my head thai style on a pillow)
He was waiting somewhere outside the room and came back when I almost finished drying myself.
I laid down on the massage table and another 90 minutes of heaven began. He started with the back, then legs then arms.
When massaging the inner side of the upper legs, he incidentally touched my cock, not often enough to come to any decisive conclusion about the further course of the massage,
but often enough to make me slightly aroused.
When I turned around I was looking and smiling at him, he was smiling back and said "You like?".
That expression was new in his vocabulary, so far he only used "ok?", this must be "English for masseurs, level 2".
My answer was of course "yes" with an even bigger smile than before (yes also farangs can smile when the circumstances are favorable...).
He continued with the belly and the chest by making big circles with both hands, which I find extremly pleasant
and I must have been purring like a cat, and the "incidentally" slowly became an "obviously on purpose".
I started rubbing his belly and then put my hand under his shirt and felt his smooth skin. After a while I asked
"ok?" and he said "no", so I removed my hand again.
Maybe he misunderstood my question, because a minute later he took my hand and put it under his shirt again ...
Later he asked "Do you want me to come?". I'm not sure whether I was more suprised by the meaning of the sentence
or by his english skills, "English for masseurs, level 3", or is it all covered by "Survival english for masseurs" anyway?
Whatever, not in control of my mouth anymore, I answered "yes". He then mentioned quite a high figure and I agreed again.
Overpriced for sure, but it is like holding a drug in front of an addict and mentioning any price the addict will say yes...
Those guys for sure know how to extract the baht of us farangs but I really can't be mad at them. Later at home I also thought that those guys will probably face difficult
times in the next months so it is ok to overtip them.
Without going into further details, I must say I left the place very happy and for sure will make a visit there again on my next holiday, which under the current
cirmumstances unfortunately is unclear when that will be...

As people, regardless if their are local, expats, tourist, men or women, are always horny, the scene will never die. In hard times, it will be survival of the fittest. The popular boys, the popular bars will survive, the not so popular one might not. But silver lining is, the virus scare hit a lot of businesses, not just the sex industry. That would also means some more guys from other industry who got hit by this virus might turn to sex industry as a refuge. Its not like im hoping for this to happen but that is the reality, in hard times, more people will be desperate enough to try things they previously wouldnt even consider. Who knows we can suddenly see some of the gorgeous "guests model" from the many gay events suddenly appear in jupiter or moonlight.

    Yeah.  Agree.
I think there are lots of scenarios possible, but, personally, I think the relative success of the move to Patpong has shown the basic soundness of the business model, so even if places close temporarily or one or even two don't survive, the scene will return to normal.   And some bars, of course, are still doing great business.
I was at Lucky Boys the other night and it had a good crowd.  People kept coming in during the show and by the end of the show they were smushing customers together to try to make more room to find places for people.  A good very mixed crowd - including some locals.  Good fun show as always.  18 guys in the "big cock" show - perhaps a sign of the times, with more guys opting for the extra money to participate.  One or two of the guys might not have technically qualified for a big cock show, but kudos to them for participating - average, travel-size cocks and all.
I do think the way the whole staff of Lucky Boys starts the show by singing and dancing along to YMCA is absolutely brilliant and so joyful.  (Maybe they did one verse more than I would have liked.). Sort of like a Club Med or cruise when all the staff sing.  And I will hand it to her, the dreaded mammasan Miss Lucy did a great job for the song.
Oh, almost forgot.  My friend and I couldn't get an exact count, but more than 40, possibly 50 guys in the regular rotation.  So that's nice.

    4. The Green Massage (1)
As usual when I am in Bangkok and in need of a (serious or not so serious) massage, I walk a circuit starting at the corner Silom Road / Convent Road,
stroll to the Sala Daeng station, cross Silom Road via the overpass at the station, head towards Silom Soi 4, check out the massage parlours there,
continue towards Silom Soi 6, check out the massage parlours there, walk past The Prime Massage, Tawan Massage, Indra Massage and all the other shops over there.
When I arrive at Surawong Road I turn right.
In the past I would have then entered Soi Twighlight, stopped for a coffee at Dicks Cafe and then gone back to Surawong and then continued to Silom Road via Thanya road until I reached my starting point again.
How many massage shops are on this circuit? Must be easily more than 20 if not 30.
Since the closure of Twighlight I replaced the last part and go now back via Patpong 2 because of The Bangkok Massage (which I never used before because I found that The Bonny Massage had the cuter guys for me).
In my indecisiveness most of the times it takes second round until I finally enter a shop.
In the second round I sometimes feel a little stupid and wonder if I am the only one walking in a circle, passing the same shops again ...
This time, the second round led me to The Green Massage in Surawong Road, one of the nice male staff there made me stop.
I booked 90 minutes head/neck/shoulder massage for 350 Baht. They do it in the massage chairs where they also do the foot massage.
I love this simplicity. In my home country,
    1. this would probably cost 5x more,
    2. there would be so much unnecessary decoration that distracts from the acutal massage like a super nice room with a massage table decorated with colorful bed sheets and fresh flowers and candles, i dont need all this stuff (well ok at some anniversary maybe ...), half of the massage time would be used to put some or remove some towels from somewhere to somewhere ...,
    3. it would be impossible to get a massage spontaneously prebooking and
    4. (not always important but sometimes would be nice) there is basically no male staff.
My masseur was from Myanmar (like many other staff at this shop), and besides a wonderful smile he also had a wonderful massage tecnique, working my stiff "office-job" neck.
So wonderful, that after 90 minutes I didnt want to let this end and therefore booked another 60 minutes of foot massage for 250 Baht.
First they said it would not be possible with the same masseur because he is booked, but when I said that then I will leave it at the 90 minutes, suddenly it was possible and I enjoyed another hour in heaven.
I think I will replace the Prime Massage in the future with The Green Massage. No idea why the name is the Green Massage when they all wear orange shirts?
What I really hate during a massage are interruptions. Bad masseurs find so many occasions to interrupt the massage like
    applying more cream and it takes endless for them to open the bottle, extract some cream and put it on the body;
they also like to leave the room in the middle of the massage and come back 5 minutes later with some towels,
or even worse they start typing on their mobile phones.
Guys, prepare everything before you start and then please nonstop! I claim that ideally there should always be at least one hand massaging the customer and my guy did this prefectly.
After the massage I made another booking for the next day with the same masseur. I booked 60 minutes of head/neck/shoulder,
and because I feel obliged to investigate for this forum, haha, I also booked 90 minutes of oil massage. Considering the nice smiles of my masseur,
I thought I would not be too embarrassed in case the stiffness of my neck would slide down to some lower body part. But I really had no expectations regarding a happy end. Do you?

Mad Face Food Week is scheduled this year for 13-15 March.  (I know, not really a week  ).  It's held on an open lot along the River.  Easy to get to - just a short walk from the cross-river ferry at Saphan Taksin.  Beers, lots of different good food to sample.  Live music.  Nice fun friendly young/mid/mixed crowd.  I think it' 100B entry and that includes a drink.  They have a series of chef's meals scheduled but those look too pricey for me.
Certainly check to make sure it's not COVID-cancelled before going.

Like it or not KhorTose has made a valid point. Can anyone really know another person enough to marry and spend his life with him when this man has never once been to their own country? When one party has never lived in Thailand for more than a few weeks at a time? Some posters here have given out details of their meetings with other posters. So let me add that I met KhorTose. I hope he will forgive me giving out a small bit of personal information in his defence in the face of the "offensive derogatory over-generalizations" he is being accused of.
Before he proposed to his Thai partner he returned and actually lived in Thailand for several years during which time they lived together. He also took his partner on a visit to his home in the USA so the young man could get used to the living environment. Only after all that did he feel confident enough that his Thai partner would be happy to settle in a totally alien country.
We are all different. What works for one may not for another. Some use stronger language and inferences than others. I do not believe Schuft is a troll and I wish him every success with the relationship.

    From Bangkok Post
    Vendor nabbed for overpriced masks
A vendor was arrested on Friday for selling face masks at an inflated price during a check on shops in the Government Complex after authorities received complaints.
The vendor, identified only as Maneerat, was charged with violating price-control regulations. Face masks and hand-sanitising gel were categorised as specially controlled goods after demand skyrocketed amid fears of the Covid-19 outbreak.
Ms Maneerat, who reportedly sold a pack of five masks at 100 baht, may face a jail term of seven years and/or a fine of up to 140,000 baht. The suspect admitted to selling packs at 100 baht each, but said the cost price was high and she could not sell them for any less.
Not far from her shop, people were queuing up outside a Government Pharmaceutical Organisation (GPO) shop, where packs of 10 masks were sold at 10 baht each. The sale is limited to one pack per person, and the stock is sold out in minutes.
Whichai Phochanakij, director-general of the Internal Trade Department, said the department will soon sell face mask packs of four at 10 baht each via convenience stores nationwide.

I had a home builder tell me once during a "slow down"

People always forget the last best time when things are bad and wonder if it will get good again....people always forget the last bad time when things are good and think they'll never get bad.

Like everything that happens with this president, the next one will be big. The "tax break" he just kicked the can down the road, if Hillary was president, we already would've been in a recession (cyclical).

I don't know why anyone wants to be the next president, including him (except to keep prosecutors away). The safety nets have been taken away and no one has payed attention because the magician keeps us occupied with other things.

If he does lose and all the mistakes of his presidency surface....the Democrat will be blamed and he'll tweet how wonderful things were and it's our fault for electing a Dem. And if he wins again and things go south, he'll still blame the Dems, he never takes blame, spoiled little brat.
