to which I'd add my recommendation of the Bell Travel Service buses. Online booking only; Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya North nonstop, and the 300B fare includes minibus transfer to/from your hotel anywhere in Pattaya or Jomtien. Or for 400B you can get a bus BangNa-Pattaya with hotel transfers at both ends. For first-time visitors it avoids baht bus mafia, being dropped in the dark on unknown Sukhumvit urban jungle, and the hazards of motosai.

No, on second thoughts, it's Th. Rachini or Th. Atsadaeng which run alongside Khlong Rop Krung. At 6:00 we're here, I think. The square sentry boxes and gnarled trees look very similar. And it's the right area for soldiers etc.

In the airport proper, or down in the basement?
In normal times, if you need to change money at the airport it's best to go down to the basement, where there are several money exchanges. Because it's technically the airport rail link terminal, it is outside the cartel that the banks run in the airport proper and the rates are significantly better (several percent, not fractions of a penny).
Of course "normal times" don't apply so I don't know whether the exchanges are operating at present.

or it could just be TiT bureaucracy. They were asking for boarding cards for no obvious reason when I last arrived back in 2019.
I never destroy the paperwork until the journey is completely finished. (Baggage receipt in particular: some countries actually require it before you can pick up your bag!)

I spent a career in corporate communications working with CEOs. There were a lot of troubling secrets.
What I learned is that secrets don't keep. There are too many loose lips and people that could benefit by revealing it. Only those who have never been involved in such things could believe that large numbers of people could keep their mouths shut. Human nature is to blab. Even more so when there is benefit in it.
Conspiracies are, for the most part, intellectual masturbation that makes the believer feel superior to the unbeliever because they possess 'hidden knowledge'. Witness all the stupidity of Qanon.
Belief in such nonsense leads to a lot of dark places. January 6th for instance.

Stijntje is right. Websites that store actual passwords are not secure by today's standards. Anyone at the hosting service where the database is stored can access the passwords of everybody using this site. So can anyone who knows how to hack into the hosting service, and there are plenty of those - see the frequent headlines.
Yes, you can mitigate the risk following z909's recommendations (I certainly do!) but even so, someone hostile (and there must be many people who disapprove of  this site) could use your credentials to impersonate you here.
Best practice "industry standard" 2019-style requires that at a minimum, any site with password access should store not the password but some kind of cryptographic hash of it. When you log in, the system computes the hash from your password, discards the password and compares its hash with the hash in the database. The password itself is never stored anywhere, and if anyone steals the database they cannot easily reverse the hash to recover the password.
The fact that the site is SSL secured is irrelevant here - that protects your password against eavesdroppers as you log in, which is good, but it does nothing to protect the password database itself. (Incidentally, SSL hasn't been best practice for the last decade or so, having been replaced by TLS  .)
Emailing a forgotten password is also anything but best practice, since email is totally insecure, and messages could be read by anyone with access to any of the many routers and switches the email passes through.
    Bottom line:
Any site that can tell you your password if you lose it, can tell anyone else too.
Any site that tells you your password by email has also told an unknown number of other people.
That's why if you forget a password, most of the sites you interact with today will email you, not the new password but a link to an HTTPS connection to create a new password. They don't tell you the old password, because they don't know it.

60, it seems. If over 65 you are "entitled' to half fares, but from 60 you are "privileged" to the same (on MRT, but not BTS). Maybe a lawyer can explain.
As for the clear and informative (YMMV) announcements, I lip-sync along with them. Doesn't everybody?

Stationary taxis hanging around at tourist-trap locations just after  BTS and MRT have shut down ( which is *before* midnight) are the worst offenders. If you walk to a main road and wave at a moving taxi with his "free" (ว่าง) sign turned on, there is less likely to be a problem. If he refuses to use the meter, don't argue, just walk away and flag another one. And if your new Thai friend does the negotiating, all the better.
