Over a year ago, sydneyboy1 started an interesting thread on the status of Clube 555 (heir to Fragata) in São Paulo. Most posters were impressed with the facility but not the GPs. If you are interested in São Paulo options to Lagoa (such as Pauleiro's account today of HotHouse), you might want to look over those May 2022 posts about Clube 555 along with this update below.
I thought sure that Clube 555 was defunct. It had been closed down when I previously tried to visit. But I was wrong. It turns out that São Paulo does in fact have a second, active, real GP sauna after all.

After two weeks of going daily to Lagoa, I ventured over to Clube 555 on Sunday night, a short $3 Uber from my hotel by Avenida Paulista. Here is what I found:

● Big downstairs with the stage, bar, pool, over 20 tables, was filled (50+ people) for the 9:20 lipsync, bingo, go-go boy show. (See partial photo of the airy area below.)



● A year ago travelers here were wondering if 555 could survive!  Even if Sunday is 555's top night and I did not have a perfect sample, it sure looked like 555 is doing OK if not thriving. So I think it's good news that Lagoa seems to have at a least a little competition, even if not with our crowd.

● Credit where credit is due. Clube 555's facility is clearly superior and far more spacious than Lagoa's. Instead Lagoa's tiny, cramped changing room, the one at 555 is nearly three time larger. The two bar/dining areas at 555 seem over three times larger than the two compact spaces at Lagoa. The steam room at 555 is more than double that of Lagoa. Also, for those who hate steps, 555 is spread over three large floors, instead of four floors like Lagoa.  Pictured below is the large changing room and the second bar/dining area. 


● Obvious issue: What about the talent? Outside of the "Lagoa-looking" go-go boys, I did not see any beefy, good-looking guys that you might see at Logoa. Guys at 555 were generally more swimmer types, not US football players. (Well, plus a few out of shape.) None at 555 were distinctly Euro or Afro; all were handsome Brazilian shades in between. They were not nearly as pushy as many Lagoa GPs.
I had two good connections. One was a str8, trim, toned, handsome, hung newbie and the other a masculine, gay, trim, toned, passionate btm. Both seemed far more surprised and thrilled to get a RS50 tip (up from 150) than any GP at Lagoa.
I cannot dispute the 2022 critics who identified 555's chief deficit as its lack of more top tier GPs. That is still the case in 2023. And yet, I got lucky.
● Suggestions:
I still share the consensus recommendation here that Lagoa be your default sauna destination, especially if you are in SP for no more than a week or so. However, if you stay longer and are looking for some variety and change of scene, you might find it interesting to go explore 555, ideally on a weekend night. And you can always quickly retreat to Lagoa in a cheap taxi.

Don't know about other nights but the Sunday show starts at 9:00 (BT so more like 9:20). Before 7:30 it will look pretty empty, but then it starts filling up.

I was interested in going to this place since it opened and finally managed to discover it this week-end.
HotHouse is located close to Republica in Sao Paulo, so not the safest place in Sao Paulo particularly in the middle of the night ... Use uber or taxis to get and to leave from there, avoiding to show your  telephone in the street. 
No sign in the street indicates HotHouse. It is at first floor to the left of a street bar as shown in the pic below.

A security guy stands at the beginning of the steep stairs. He will give you a card which you must show to get your drinks. Price of cover charge is 40 R$ (and you pay all your drinks) or 80 R$ which can be used to pay for drinks : you start paying your drinks when the total of drinks is over 80 R$. Another option, which is advised : 100 R$. In this case, you are seated on a sofa in a VIP place just in front of the strippers who will all come to you to be cuddled (and tipped) and you start paying your drinks when the total of drinks is over 100 R$.
Drinks are rather cheap : beer in tin : R$ 15 ; beer in bottle : R$20 ; soft drink : R$10 ; caipirinha : R$20/40 ; whiskies : R$40/50. 
The security guard at entry will ask you your name and give you a card (which takes 5 seconds) and then start typing on his telephone, changing screens, typing again, ticking boxes, putting a (totally useless) wristband, during 2 to 3 minutes for each customer. Brazilian bureaucracy ...

It depends on the day, but there are around 6 strippers, plus 2 "interactive boys" who will do the live sex show ... and more.
 
Example of strippers present this week end :

The first day I attended the show, a friday, the customers were not many and pretty shy and I was the only one to take the actors to the dark room and have fun with them. The second day, a saturday, there were much more people not shy at all and pretty much aware of what was to be done. Hey, since this is my first trip to Brazil I thought I'd give a report of what my experience has been like as a newcomer. 
Started off with a week in São Paulo. Was going to stay at a lovely Airbnb in Consolação but when I got there the owner didn't respond to me when I tried to check in. Ended up having to get Airbnb to refund me and getting a crappy little room at the Ibis Budget Frei Caneca (which was more expensive than the Airbnb), since I knew I wanted to be close to Lagoa. 
So I went to Lagoa several days. As a first-timer, I was impressed with the number and quality of the guys there. I also felt like it was relatively clean, compared to for example Sauna Thermas in Barcelona. I would post up in the bar reading a book and drinking a beer, enjoyed that they had the glass shower next to the bar. The men there were friendly but not too pushy, which I appreciated. Overall, outside of the República and Sé areas, I felt pretty safe the whole time I was there. I flew from SP to Rio on Saturday. I took the light rail and metro to my hotel in Copacabana, and my first impression of the city was that it was bizarrely dead. Cristo Redentor was exhausting and IMO not worth the trip. I bought "skip the line" tickets via Viator, and took the Corcovado train up. That was interesting, and then you get to the top and there are SO MANY PEOPLE. The views are great, I'll give it that. But getting back down was a shitshow. The line for the train (which you could not skip on the way back down) went halfway up the stairs to the statue. I'd estimate I waited about an hour to get on a train back down, and by the time I did I had to go back to the hotel and take a nap.
I also checked out the Museum of Modern Art (not worth it in my opinion), and walked around Leblon in Ipanema, which is a much nicer area than Copacabana, with lots of shops and restaurants, and where I'd consider staying next time. I'm not much of a beach person, so I just took a lot of walks up and down the sidewalk next to the beaches, stopping for drinks and food at the many beachside bars and restaurants, and peoplewatching. I never actually touched the sand. I had thought about renting a car to go to Abricó Beach, which is a nude beach outside of Rio, but driving in a foreign country seemed unnecessarily stressful so I decided against it.
In terms of food, my hotel had a great restaurant in it, Q Ceviche, and I went to O Grego twice because it's open late (12 AM) and was delicious. I did go to Fogo de Chão and the meat was my least favorite part. It just wasn't very flavorful. I much preferred the salad bar, which actually had a tray of pork belly with crackling, which was the best meat by far.
Both of my hotels had The Coffee stands nearby, which is very convenient because ordering is done via an iPad which makes it much easier than speaking to a cashier. I found myself going to The Coffee over any other coffee place around the city because of this.
One thing that did make an impression on me is how gay Brazil is. I've seen so many gay couples holding hands walking down the street, even outside of gay areas. The first two times I turned on the TV I saw a drag queen and a gay love scene. There are antidiscrimination notices all over, and on the metro there's an ad for a show called Tunnel of Love that has straight and gay couples making out. I didn't realize how openly gay friendly Brazil is, especially with all the terrible things I'd heard from Bolsonaro.
And overall, everything here is just so inexpensive. A nice dinner rarely cost me more than $40. I'd spend 3-4 hours drinking at Lagoa or 117 for $30. I had 9 sessions with men, including a pornstar, for the same price as 2 would have been in the US. Ubers cost between $5 and $10, even with surge pricing. 
Overall, I've had a great trip and I'm excited to come back. Since it's only an hour ahead of east coast time, it's pretty easy for me to work remotely from here, so I think I may plan to come back for a month or so at some point.

I am back from my 11 day trip to Brazil. I feel sick, I threw up yesterday, I feel better now. On top of that I have a sore anus.

I did 5 nights in Sao Paulo and 6 nights in Rio. Solo Trip. I was super nervous, I have been to other countries but for some reason, Brazil was alway regarded as unsafe everywhere.
 
Anyways lets get to the point. I want to let you know that this review is from a first time Brazil visitor and not a seasoned one.
 
From Day 1-4 I went to Lagoa. My Oh my. It was delicious! haha. I know some people who have been to Brazil multiple times have mentioned that Lagoa is not the same anymore in terms of boys but for a first timer like me, it was amazing!! The only day it was kinda disappointing to me was Sunday at lagoa (I was there thu-sun) in terms of boys. I really liked the staff there too, very helpful. There was this one garoto whose name started with 'H' was such a sweetheart, he ended up becoming my regular.
One thing to note, calling an uber To Lagoa is almost impossible. I had so many drivers cancel the ride. I think it is because of the confusing turn maybe. So what I used to do was call the uber to the market 'Remax' which was on the next street and stay in the market, until uber comes. Both the hotel people and lagoa people always told me to never take my cellphone out in public.
 
On Monday day 5, I give myself some rest.Ooofff. A bottom needs to eat as well. Lowkey jealous of all the tops. I would do light breakfast, then douche after a couple of hours, have my fiber pills and have dinner after the sauna visit.
 
On Day 6, Tuesday. I took the bus to Rio. It was through Flixbus. Really good bus but crappy wifi. After reaching Rio and freshen myself up. I was ready to go to 117 on their famous tuesday. Very nice front desk person, and he explained to me in english. I then made my way to explore the building. To my disappointment, it is such a run down, old looking building with mostly old looking rooms. But the selection of garotos was phenomenal there. Muscular!! A bottom's heaven...lol 
 
On Day 7, Wednesday. I went to 202. This was their free cabin day and it was packed!! I have never spent this much time at a sauna, but that includes the wait times for the room. The building is worse than 117 but the rooms are slightttllyy better. 
 
On Day 8, Thursday. I checked Meio Mundo but it was dead, probably on the wrong day. The guy was nice enough for me to check out the place before I pay. I went to 117 then.
 
Following days I switched between 117 and 202. I don't know which one is Junior at 202 but the young guy on the front desk who is probably the son of the older finer gentleman is sooo cute.
 
Other things to note:
I did uber for everything as this was my first time. Maybe i was a little too cautious. I used Uber black. I used Airbnb experiences for touristy things I stayed at hotels in both SP (Ibis Styles Centro) & Rio (Royal Regency Palace Hotel). I did not intend to bring anyone to my room. I got a cheap alternate cellphone but I was not able to get a sim at GRU airport without a brazilian document, so I had to go to a mall and go to the vivo store to get the sim. They speak Portuguese but if you speak Spanish, you can get by for a short visit. Don't get me wrong when I say 'run down building'. I was expecting 117 and 202 to look like Thermas Barcelona & Lagoa. Having said that neither thermas bcn or lagoa are palaces but you would understand what I am talking about when comparing to 117 or 202. The boys charged $R 150 - 200. I did not negotiate.   
Brazil is a beautiful country, a must visit. As long as you are aware of your surroundings, you are good. I would love to go again! Don't let anything discourage you from visiting.

As this holiday ends and I am writing from Tokyo, just a few last words reflecting on my first hiring holiday in Thailand:

There are 4 or 5 busy rent bars along the same street within a block or two. Tabasco and Pinocchio have been there forever. Blue Boy is a block down and between is BoyToy (or ToyBoy?).  All of these are extremely busy and usually crowded. Tabasco is packed. But they are 99% Romanian pick pockets and con artists. Sadly, historic Tabasco is the most dangerous. There is another one a half-block behind Tabasco the other direction that is nice and safe but few guys. BoyToy may have a "room", I'm not sure. I think rather there's a sex hotel above it. 
Berlin is very active online with hot German guys. In Germany the base price is usually just E70 and 100 is good. Half of Prague or Zurich or other places. There are also "sex hotels" in the area with hourly rates for a clean room. 
Berlin has the uber-trendy Labatory gay bar where anything goes. It's next to the uber-chic Berghain nightclub.
In Germany it's normal to have nude nights, piss nights, etc etc at many many gay bars very often. Some are always nude. Some bars give out condoms, lube and rubber gloves at the door on entry. Never expect the ordinary in Germany.
But in the rent bars, especially Tabasco, hide your wallet and phone carefully and put most money in your sock under your foot. 
 

Stopped for a couple days in Zurich recently and here are the notes:
1. Paragonya's remodeling did not seem to get in the way. I don't remember what was closed off from my previous trip (more than a decade ago) but there seemed to be lots of cabins, showers, nooks. Every inch was Swiss-clean. The cabins had condoms, lube, paper towel, and alcohol sprays. The remodeling should be done in a few days so I'd love to hear from someone what that looks like.
2. There was a good crowd of clients and working boys. My estimate is at least 20 of each.
3. Days and Times: Definitely a weekend thing, in fact only open I believe Thu.-Sun. while remodeling is going on. Definitely an afternoon thing. By 2 pm, you will have seen everybody who will be available. (One guy who came around 4 was asked "why so late?") By 4:30-5 pm, the guys start leaving.
4. The talent: Lots of Brazilians, including one I saw in Barcelona just before. The rate is a firm 100CHF. I didn't sense an expectation of a tip.
5. The worst thing: I must have forgotten that Paragonya is a "private" club and therefore smoking is allowed inside. Although they must have some ventilation system at the bar to keep the place from turning into a BBQ pit, it was really getting to me.
6. Zurich in general. Still pretty expensive even with the favorable currency rates. Even the fast food and ethnic restaurants aren't a deal. The best concentration of passable eats and prices I found was, surprisingly, on the touristy pedestrian street right outside Paragonya. Otherwise, do what the Swiss do and get your sandwiches and coffee at the grocery store.
I stayed at a pension in what turned out to be the edgy, ethnic, and slightly red-light neighborhood of Zurich. In addition to cafes and shawarma shops, think tattoo parlors, vape shops,  strip clubs, and hard-working ladies still hanging out in fishnet stocking when the nippy morning came around. There were also plenty of guys in track suits hanging out in front of the clubs and ladies, including one hunky Russian-looking guy who gave me "a look," but I didn't have the opportunity to find out what he was selling. All in all, I'm already thinking about a return trip to Switzerland.

Here are my observations based on 2 visits last month (Friday and a Saturday a few weeks later).
Both nights were busy. Full house/all tables busy from around 11 PM (Saturday a bit later). Entry is 15 mil until 11PM; 20 mil after 11 PM. Drinks/beverages are reasonably priced, e.g. a Club Colombia beer is 10 mil.
The price for a "private show" behind the curtain is advertised at 60 mil but no first hand experience on what is actually included.
The dancers/strippers vary on each night but many seem to come on a regular basis/each night. The guys will approach you for a hand shake/to say hi and small talk; in general they try to interact with the guests and are friendly and encourage  touching/light groping, which should be appreaciated with small tips (2 or 5 mil note). Very few speak English so try to get by in Spanish. The guys vary in appearance from very masculine muscle guys to younger lean/fit boys with more boyish bodies (so there should be someone for every taste). In general, I find the strippers hot/looking great and sexy in their small speedos/briefs (although certainly not all of them are of my taste). The guys advertised on the webpage have not been updated, so don't expect to find the guys you have seen online to actually be there on a given night
As stated above there will be a fuck show on Fridays around/after midnight (but it was nothing spectacular IMO; I enjoyed the guys dancing on the stage more); I didn't see any fuck show on Saturday (but I might have left too early).

When I'm traveling, usually it takes me three days to land, adjust my expectations, and start having fun. This time I started in day 2. After what is becoming my regular daily visit to the 17th floor, I went to Club 117. By the way, please do not hit me through PM message asking questions about what is going on there. As I was sharing in PM with the friend @Novarunner, I must be discrete. All I am going to say is that it provides me with many opportunities to be in the right place at the right time, and enjoy fun with some of the hotties, besides the pleasure of their friendship.
