I have entered Thailand many times by air, with tourist visa or even without, and only once been asked (by airline) for an onward flight. That was from Taipei to Bangkok, and I bought a fully refundable flight with same airline. I got the refund, but fees (exchange rate, credit card payment fee, processing fee by airline) were higher than a cheap flight in the area would have cost.
If I get in that situation again, I would hope not to be asked for an onward ticket, or argue with check-in staff, but have everything ready on my phone to buy a cheap ticket or use an onward-ticket-service so I can do it on the spot.

Those questions, gay-friendly whatever, come up regularly.
I think the idea of "gay friendly" is a western concept that does not apply to Thailand, or SEAsia in general.
You can eat, drink, stay with gay friends wherever you want in straight, mixed or gay venues, nobody will care.

Over the years, I have flown estimated 12 different airlines, with change of airplane in their hub, between Berlin and Bangkok. Whichever was cheaper and had good departure time and stopover time.
"Does anybody know some other cheap routes flying from Europe to BKK? I am based in the UK."
Those would come up on the usual flight search websites.

In general, shamelessmack is a good starting point for massage and gogo bars in Thailand.

The Taipei sauna Soi13in is the best I have been to. In 3 months in 2018, I went 14 times and had fun 12 times. Elsewhere the ratio is 5 visits and 1 time fun. However the success in sauna did not translate to online dating. I largely gave up on Taiwan for gay activities but will go again for tourism.
For me, online dating in Taiwan is a black hole. I follow a few cute boys in hornet and get shown other profiles, and I messaged about 20, some even twice, but nothing ever comes back. Zero. Nil.
My two weeks in Brazil (SP and Rio in Sep 2020) were rather poor boy-wise, but there is potential and I like the vibe in general and the hiking in Rio. There is potential boy-wise that I hope to open next time.

Philippines is the only country in SEAsia I haven't been to. The reasons are multiple:
A bit more expensive to get to because further away from Thailand. I said the same about Taiwan, but after a friend who has been there urged me to go, I went and was happy with what I found, total 5 trips.
I have met over 5 Pinoys in Thailand, none of them convincing in bed. I chatted with more, the same crap as with Thai boys. A few years ago, I was pondering Philippines for my next visa run, a particularly negative exchange on online dating, crossed Philippines off for that visa run.
A friend who has been to Philippines says hotels more expensive and poorer standard than in Thailand, that's something I'm sensitive to. And he says bringing locals back can be a problem.
It seems Philippines will remain at "I want to go some day, but currently there are much better options".
Similar applied for Brazil, until in autumn 2020 for Covid I was stuck in Germany with nowhere to go (warm, cheap, boys) than Brazil. I made it to Brazil and I'm glad I did! Will be back as soon as possible (reasonable flight prices and times).

For a few thousand Baht, a lot of things can and will happen. But my objective is not to get the boy at all cost, but on a budget. In fact, getting a boy on a budget, 500 THB in my case for boys who don't speak English and I assume have no regular contact with foreigners, is as much as a thrill as getting the boy at all.

I once was the first customer in Screw Boys (currently still closed) and Eros (closed for good) and enjoyed the experience the see the boy arrive and change (that's the important part) under white light, without the boys paying any attention to me. However have to know the bar and get the timing right, in other bars I had a look, no boys, waiter invited me for drink, boys will come soon; no thanks, I will look somewhere else. I made that mistake once, in Chiang Mai about 8 years ago, pay full price for a drink and look at an empty stage for half an hour, slowly realizing my mistake.

My judgement is biased/incomplete by the fact that I spent time since Covid in Thailand and Cambodia, but not elsewhere, and speak more Thai than the average Thai speaks English.
Best English: Cambodia and Myanmar.
Can't judge: Vietnam and Lao.
Worst English: Thailand.
Those who come to Thailand for work are the most agile, both mentally and physically, of their country.
I had Thais refuse to meet me in Silom because it's to far from Sukhumvit (where they are).

I was not specific about activities, anyway most sex I have does not involve fucking. Even those I got to my room and who knew there is nothing to be afraid of, were difficult to get for a repeat.

The earplugs reduce the level of human voice and background music to the same degree, communication works like without ear plugs.
I'm sensitive to noise, and unless there is a very good reason to stay (and put in earplugs - in case of my rare disco visits where I know in advance it will be loud - or tissue), I will tell staff that I will not become a customer because of the noise.

Taking a boy from a gogo bar or a massage shop is much better, as they are controlled by manager and you can go meet mamasan in case of any problem.
I have taken hundreds of boys from online, and dozens from the street, and never had a problem. Similar for a friend, numbers even higher, let's say 1000 boys without a problem.
In best case the boy knocks on my door and this is the first time I meet him in real. There are disappointments (does not look as good as I thought), but the saving of time compared to meeting outside more than compensates.
When I'm not sure the boy in picture is the one I'm going to meet, I ask for more pictures or even better video chat. That has saved me a lot of disappointment (i.e. wast of time and money), and could have saved even more disappointment if I had been more strict.

I once spotted new recruits being led into the bar, eyes as big as saucers when they saw the other boys in underwear on stage.
When I go to gay saunas in Thailand and Cambodia, all other customers change their clothes under a towel.
But if you want my business in a gogo bar, underwear is the way to go. I do not tire of walking out of a gogo bar that has boys in short or even jeans and tell staff that I will come back when boys are in underwear (a necessary but not sufficient requirement to get my business).

I have propositioned several straight boys who are not money boys. Over the years, let's say 2014 to now, 10 boys, out of which I got 4 to bed, 3 of which useless and one okay and repeat. Overall a huge waste of time, but not so much of money (500 for the boy, however the value for money I got was poor). All communication was in Thai as none of them spoke English.
You would think the difficulty is the first time. But no, trying to get them the second time as difficult. One case somewhere got the idea access to his body is worth 3000, and it took me a while to get him to accept 500. Useless in bed, but nice body and with the data from first encounter I hoped I can get a better second encounter. But he again asked for 3000, and then was out of Line, and I lost interest.

น้อง (Nong) is a form of address (by yourself of by others) when speaking with someone slightly older, here translated as sister, even though it is used for both sexes. Originally used between siblings, but can be used for people non-related as well.
The opposite would be พี่ (Pee) that's how the boy would address the customer, or the customer address himself when talking to the boy.
K is slang for penis.

I vaguely remember that the proof of leaving Thailand has to be a flight, bus or train probably not accepted. I would buy a ticket to Baan Khlong Luek (border crossing to Poipet) for 49 Baht, but only available in railway station and only (how many weeks?) in advance.
I once used onwardticket or similar service, but didn't have to provide proof of leaving Thailand. The booking can be searched and will be found in airline databases, but I didn't like that the printout did not have any airline name or logo, and can immediately be recognized as fake (in the sense that you won't be on that flight).
The screenshot is from online visa, and they are asking for proof of travel TO Thailand. Makes no sense, and I would rather get the visa first and arrange travel later, but that's how it is. As if someone pays 35 EUR (in my case) for the visa and then does not travel to Thailand without a good reason.
