I learned about 2 hours ago that a really nice guy who has lived in Pattaya for several years has died today in route to the hospital. Some of you may know Matthew. He was young 40's, and had completely rebuilt a 1964 Vespa with side car. One of the bar owners in Sunee Plaza who lived behind Matthew told me that all hospital emergencies rooms in Pattaya were full so he had to be transported to Siracha government hospitals. He flatlined on the way. Matthew had developed pneumonia and was not able to shake it. His friend David is on his way from Canada. As soon as I know if a service will be held, I will let the members know

When walking along Beach Road, I often see Asian tourist groups getting on or off speed boats. One of these boats capsized in the bay. Luckily no one was killed. Sixteen people were taken to the hospital. If you have an urge to take one of these speedboat, be careful. As you may have been informed already, VISA has suspended their connection with the ePassporte VISA program. According to those in California, this is a problem with Visa and not the bank. They say it should be resolved next week. If you were sending your BF money via Epassporte, he may not be able to use it. Just a heads up for anyone who uses Epassporte.

We've been skirting around this question in several threads. Here's my take on what a Message Board is and what it should not be. I don't think a Message Board should be an open forum for whatever posters wish to post. It is the responsibility of the moderators/owners to steer a board in the direction they wish it to take. Every newspaper with a "Letters" section (and even those which do not) filters what is printed and what is not. Cries of censorship are just shouting in the wind. Of course posts should be deleted, made invisible, etc. at the discretion of the "editor" (or in this case moderator). Those decisions are what gives any media its personality a…

Someone posted what would be the best place in Bnagkok to live. Several posted the area they though would be best. I have had to go to Bangkok for things other than the gay venues, like the Embassy, Hospital, etc. But I have not figured out how to navigate the city. When I drive I use my GPS. But some of my friends have seemed to figure the city out as far as the different areas and what is in the different areas, and how to get around using mass transit. Can anyone point me to a simple map that will help me understand how to navigate Bangkok?

August Suites is a fine hotel, many friends have stayed there and all were pleased. The price is negotiable, if you email the hotel and say a friend stayed for 1300 they will probably accept in low season. Great value! http://www.augustsuites.com/

Friends, I have walked past the Ocean Cafe without stopping many times on my way to and from Jomtien Beach and Dongtan Beach walkway. Ocean Cafe is located next door to the 7-11 at the corner across from the Police Box at Jomtien Beach. Nearly new, it is NO Smoking - comfortable and the inside dining room is air conditioned. An outside front entry patio has tables for smokers and non-smokers. Currently they are offering ALL BREAKFASTS from the nice and colorful menu for 99 Thai baht! including (depending on selected breakfast) eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, butter, jam and fresh brewed coffee. Normally 120-140 baht. See the promo sign in fron…

Playboys is another go-go bar on Pattayaland three. As far as directly across the street from funny boys. The boys in this bar are about the same age as those in funny boys about 22 years old and older. In my view, most of the boys in toy boys are a little bit more macho. This bar however allows customers to smoke in the air conditioned bar. This is one of the negative things for me. The bar fine is 300 baht and the drinks are 150 baht. The waiters are not very attentative.. I also find that when you ask about each of the dancers the mamasams will not always tell you the truth. However, this is another one of the bars in town where it pays to take a look.

I'm curious. How many of you sleep with guys your own age and how many of you sleep with guys half your age and have NO desire at all to sleep with guys your own age? For those of you who use gogobars and moneyboys etc. do you think this is the reason you go for paid sex rather than hooking up with or developing relationships with others just like yourself? When I was 18, I was only attracted to guys my own age or younger. It was the same when I was 19. And same when I was 20. But as I've approached my mid-twenties, I've found myself attracted to both guys the same age (and this age has obviously increased since I was 18) and even older guys (only Asian) up…

As you enter Pattaya land soi three from 2nd Rd. you will see funny boys bar on the right hand side. This bar is a go-go bar and is always very clean. They always have a large number of boys on hand. Most of the boys are probably 22 years old or older. This bar as well air-conditioned and no smoking is allowed inside. The bar fine to take away a boy is 300 baht. The drinks average1 50 baht. The Mamasam at the bar is named Rose. He does a very good job making sure that everyone is comfortable and is there to tell you all about every boy. In my view funny boys is one of the cleanest friendliest bars in boys town.

I earnestly ask you to take the trouble to read through all of this post. Today I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting a very brave, bright, intelligent, knowledgeable and captivating young man. His name is Rino, he is half Thai and speaks Thai, English and German. He is just 10 years old. Unfortunately, he may never live to see his 11th birthday. Just a few weeks ago, he was diagnosed with a very rare heart condition named Ebstein’s Anomaly. It is so rare that there has never been a case in Thailand before now. Fortunately, the pediatrician treating him studied at one of world’s top heart clinics and is thoroughly versed in the illness. Rino must have a major h…

This bar is one of the oldest in Pattaya. It also has some of the oldest dancers in Pattaya. The owner is very loyal to his workers so you'll see some that have been working maybe 15 years. This used to be one of the most popular boy bars in Pattaya. On many nights they have a cabaret show starts around 1130 or midnight. Some people think it is a very good show. Most of the dancers for the cabaret part are from two of the large lady boy cabarets, Tiffany and Alcazar. The owner of this bar is one of the driving forces in Pattaya. The bar fine is 300 baht and the drinks are 150 baht. I have found that it is usually a little bit harder to get information on each individu…

I have just read about this proposed high speed train between China and Thailand. The Thai cabinet has approved the idea in principle but more negotiations are to come. This is a great idea and I hope it comes about in my lifetime. You can read more at http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/396547-thailand-china-high-speed-rail-talks-get-cabinet-go-ahead/

I was at Saladaeng Skytrain station twice today. Both times I saw a pair of soldiers in camouflage uniforms holding awesome looking rifles. There were also a pair on the overpass leading towards Rama 4. I have not seen soldiers there since the violence ended in May. Did anyone read about heightened security measures in the city?

  25. Investigations into the dealings of several Thai websites have uncovered a suspected child prostitution ring operating in Thailand recently. Police discovered the illegal operations following the June arrest of an internet gaming business owner in Pattaya. Thailand, the 6th of September 2010 [PDN]: Following the arrest of Mr. Traiphop Bunphasong, implicated in a Pattaya child prostitution racket, Children and Women Protection Center Police successfully uncovered a larger 'parent' operation, which had been running in Thailand for the last 10-years. Mr. Bunphasong's arrest was directly related to the later arrest of famed Russian musician Mikhail Pletnev. Initially,…
