I have just had some major dental surgery which included 4 extractions and 8 implants all done in 2 hours under general anaesthetic. I looked at several hospitals and clinics in Bangkok and the Pattaya area. I wanted an all inclusive price quote in writing so that I knew what the cost will be and I would not get extras thrown at me on every visit. The BF in Thailand had Dengue Fever for 10 days. It was sudden and it really kicked his ass. He was in Thai hospital for 10 days. I didn't find out about it for 5 days as he was not able to communicate or get his phone for the first 5. When I did talk to him I also spoke to his doctor and nurse every day to keep an eye to make sure things were going OK. I almost flew there but he assured me that he would be OK. Hello everyone, when I was in Bkk in August I got a SIM-card (1-2-call freedom sim prepaid/pay-as-you-go) for a mobile phone in order to be able to communicate with friends. I will be back in Thailand in January before my number expires (I hope topping up increases the expiring date). But this rises the question: How do I keep my number for a long time (years), when I visit Thailand only occasionally? How do others who regularly go to Thailand for holiday manage to keep their mobile-phone-number without a contract (i.e. without any costs unless you make a call)?

Am thinking of making a trip to samui on my next trip to los but having never been , i have no idea where to stay or the cost of hotels . I dont want the dirt cheap end of the market but i also dont want to break the bank. If a thai friend of mine agrees i will take him with me from pattaya but u never know. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. What did you do in LOS? I am very thankful for everyone I have met over the years through this site and in LOS. I am especially thankful for my boyfriend as he is out of the hospital and I have so happy he is OK and back to his normal joking self. My last LOS in Thailand, I had dinner with a friend in Jomtien and it was amazing. It was much better than the home cooked meal I had in LA this week!

Yesterday I had to make a visit to the new immigration office in Bangkok. It is a long distance from the city center. A 200 baht taxi ride. The facility is quite new and very nice. Lines were not long at 9 AM. The staff now has individual walled cubicles and this seems to have improved attitudes. Unfortunately, the somewhat illogical laws still apply. Once again I join others in being amazed that a country so dependent on the tourist dollar makes it so difficult and complicated to obtain a long term visa.

When in Patong last trip I tried out the two main massage places, Aquarius and Blue Dolphin. Both massages were good, Aquarius (place I visit regular,2hour) massage was good but not even the faintest signs of extras, not even a happy ending and that's a first for me there. Blue Dolphin (my first time there) was a very good massage, 1.5 hour and private room, although it only finished with a happy ending I must say that it will be my preferred massage place on future trips as the massage was better as was the attitudes of the boys.

My Thai bank account is with Siam Commercial Bank. I went there to get a cash advance with my US bank Debit card. They no longer will give cash advances on debit cards, only on credit cards. I went to Bangkok Bank and got an advance with only my debit card and passport. No fees from SCB or my US bank. Normally, when I use my US ATM card here my US bank charges $5.00 for each transaction. Missing LOS, I can do little in Los Angeles other than date a Thai guy or get a Thai Massage. I find the Thai guys here much different that in LOS and most are pretty fem. So, I have my bi-weekly massage from a Thai lady. She is excellent and it gives me a good reminder of how much I miss Thailand when I am away. The waters are blue, clear, and none of the pollution that is so prevalent at Pattaya. If you have a car it takes only 20 minutes to get there from Pattaya. If you do not have transportation of your own, then the only way I can think of to get to any of these beaches would be to hire a taxi or baht bus for the day, or perhaps rent a car.
