With all the press recently on underage boys being hired in Pattaya, newspapers around the globe seem to be focused on Pattaya. The majority of them readily say that Pattaya is only known for its sex trade. I have had tons of people ask me about the news of late and ask is sex is really that avaialble in Pattaya and that the city is built of the sex industry. I gave them my opinion. What is yours? Is there more to Pattaya than sex? If so, what is it? Where is it?

Last night I did a little bit of bar hopping in Pattayaland. Many of you are familiar with the Star Boys bar, the one that for so many years sat all by itself across Second Road from Pattayaland, Soi 1. Now they've closed it and re-opened a new Star Boys in Pattayaland, Soi 1. I gave it a try and I liked it. There's really nothing different about it from any other typical Pattayaland bar, but some of the boys in there are really cute. I am looking for information on Bangkok Pride on the weekend of Nove. 9-11. I can find lots of info about the parties being held by the bars, but I would like to see the Pride Parade and the booths/displays/etc. that they ususally set up dring the day in a park. Any info will be greatly appreciated. I have looked at Bangkok Pride's website, and no luck.

Unfortunately, the news is not good. This evening I went out for a bit of bar hopping. One bar I like is Siam Boys on Soi Day Night. The bar was open, but all the go-go boys were gone. You can go in for a drink, but other than the doormen and the bartender, there was no one there. I was not able to find out why or whether this is something temporary. The second piece of bad news is one of my favorite go-go bars, Happy Bar, just outside of Sunee Plaza. It has closed. I ran into a couple of the boys who had worked there. They said the bar will be closed for one month. Later I ran into a friend who usually has reliable information. According to him, the bar …

Seems the Cubbing group has defaulted on several back rent payments and may be in trouble of closing down. Have also just heard they have fired the manager (Eric) and may be trying to regroup in time for high season.

The latest PGF dinner was served to a packed house at Richard Burk's wonderful Amor restaurant this evening. The dinner was excellent. You can see the menu on the Amor Restaurant web site at http://www.amorrestaurant.com. As always, Jim Lumsden did a terrificly entertaining job as M.C. The raffle prizes included everything from bottles of fine wine, to dinner vouchers, and even included a fabulous ruby ring and a Phuket holiday at a luxury resort including airfare. A great time was had by all and 182,400 baht was raised by the time I left.

In a thread below I wrote that I thought Christopher Paul Neil would never have shown up in the Sunee Plaza area, but it turns out I was dead wrong. Today I was at the Immigration office. A friend was trying to get a 30-day extension for his tourist visa. There is a new regulation, or at least today was the first time I became aware of it, so it's new to me. Now, in order to get the extension, you must present an airline ticket showing that you will leave Thailand prior to the expiration date of the extension. That doesn't make much sense to me considering the fact that there are other modes of transportation besides air available in order to leave the country, but there it is. No airline ticket, no extension.

Hey all...looking for some advice/suggetions on East Asia travelling topic. I am a gay white guy living in Hong Kong, and am taking a week vacation to see some more of beautiful Thailand and its fun boys. Just going by myself to have fun, relax, and enjoy nice scenery of all kinds. Been to Bangkok a few times...very touristy...Was thinking of going to Phuket, Chiang Mai, Koi Samoi...not sure... anybody have an recommendations for "not miss" places to see or anything? I stayed at Two-Guy's Guesthouse in Pattaya and was most welcomed by owner Stewart and staff Cho and Lek. They were great source's of information, my room was large and wonderful. The daily folks who stop by for breakfast, or talk, were also most helpfull with any questions I had and were a great source for "local knowledge". The best bars in my opion were in Sunnee Plaza, Krazy Dragon and Happy Boys or Happy Bar. Both had friendly (not pushy) boys who danced on tables in front of you, making for most interesting times. These days there are not nearly as many beggars in Pattaya as there were years ago, but every so often a few appear. It is not uncommon to find an old woman sitting on a sidewalk, holding an infant or young child, along with holding a collecting cup . . . the picture of pathos. In reality it's far more pathetic than that. Most of the time the child isn't even hers. Sometimes, again nowhere near as often as years ago, children show up on the beach trying to sell something, usually chewing gum.
