ggokk thanks for reminding me ...

'' He takes his suitcases and gives me a kiss on the cheek, and then a big long hug, lingering and strong, as if to give me enough affection to last me the long 3 months ahead before seeing me again. I didn’t want to let go, but I did, just because I had to. '' ...

I will be really looking forward to 3 months later :)

BurBoy probably has an alien identification card or pink card that looks like this

http://treasurygroup.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/24111.jpg

This pink card allows him to stay and work in Thailand legally. And it probably allows him to cross the border by land. Although strictly by law, he'll need a passport to cross the border but the border control landside is less restrictive than the airside.

CB may have entered Thailand with his passport and obtained a temporary stay visa (the same tourist visa issued to all foreigners). He probably 'work' in Thailand illegally and will have to leave and reenter every 90 days as the temp visa expires.

This is it! Thanks for the confirmation. I have seen BurBoy use this pink card before for identification. I guess it is not as under the table as I thought, and I'm happy that BurBoy has it. I urged him to get a passport if for some reason we will fly somewhere outside Thailand. He used only ID once in a Bangkok Airways flight from Bangkok to Phuket, so I guess flying domestic in Thailand or Myanmar is possible with just the ID.

I also find it a complete mystery, Maybe someone knows. My "Burboy" existed in Pattaya on a borrowed ID. He had no passport. However when the pangs of love took hold I could not bear the thought of him being found out so I sent him home to get a passport and a visa. All this took a bit of cash but not a lot of time. Now instead of the tortuous bus journey from Mai Sai to Pattaya he can take a bus to Chaing Rai and catch the "easy jet" south. I may be wrong but I understand he only needs a visa to make an overland crossing. Should he fly to BKK from Myanmar then he can enter on the tourist visa, same as us folk. Having said that I might have read that this was suspended after the alleged trumped up charges against 2 Myanmar boys accused of killing a couple of brits caused a bit of mayhem and a few insults towards the Thai hierarchy.

One other point is that he is able, quite freely, to walk across the border with just his Myanmar ID but is limited to no further south than Chaing Rai. Maybe this is because he from Shan State and they may have special arrangements I do not know for sure. He tells me it is because he is ethnic Tai Yai but I will not begin to understand about that.

fabulous reports by the way...and the balloon ride is now on my bucket list. Not sure about my little "pot noodle" if he is up for it. Going to take him to Hua Hin on the ferry next week for a belated valentines treat on my Marriott points. Lets see how he is on water first.

Thanks for sharing your story. Still puzzled by allowing border crossings and yet not allowed to go past Chiang Rai. How do they monitor this? And how long did it take your BurBoy to get his passport? Mine is still waiting on his, after one and a half months.

And let me know how Hua Hin went for you guys! I am planning on going this April pre-Songkran and would like to know what to look out for. And you must try the balloon ride. I've already have had quite a few members PM about it. I wish I could make money of off my recommendations! lol

Malaysian and thailand gov had an agreement for border crossing where instead of passport, we can have a border pass instead, much cheaper and quicker to get, but only for area that are near the borders. I guess myanmar and thai also have similar arrangement? For us, only those who stay on the northern border states can apply, and they can only go up to songhkla area, so if they go to bkk or pattaya, it is considered illegal.

Again, I wonder how they check for people going out of their approved areas. Is it just random checks? Or is there border police at outside of the approved area?

As mentioned by others the photographs add a level of enjoyment and help to turn voyeurs ("boyeurs") into voyagers.

Question: are you using only your phone as a camera?  The clarity seems much sharper than that of most phone cameras.  My miserable photography skills are shown in my current report and I'd like to improve for my planned May excursion.

I only used my iPhone in this trip, so all the photos here taken by me are from my phone. I toyed with the idea of taking my DSLR with me to Myanmar, but that thing is big and unwieldy at times, and with the walking and barefoot touring we were doing, it would just be in the way. I upgraded my phone to an iPhone 7 Plus last fall in anticipation of this trip, and I got the 256 GB version so I can store all the photos.

I use my DLSR camera less and less now. If I went somewhere super picturesque like to American National Parks, and I know I will have a car to use for touring, I will take it with me, and I am sure my photos would be stunning if I used it in Myanmar, but the camera phone I have is more than enough to take with me in the fast-paced touring I did. Advantages: no messing with memory cards and computers, using the graphic apps in my phone to enhance the photos, being able to upload choice photos directly to Facebook or Instagram in seconds, and having all my photos automatically backed up to iCloud (with a $2.99 additional fee because I have thousands and thousands of photos, as well as apps, to backup).

The horseplay you captured at the village toll point reinforced what I've come to see repeatedly represented in my visits to Thailand and environs: the uninhibited joy that young people take in each others' company.

Perhaps it comes from living in a more intimate conditions, in close proximity with others that fosters this mindset of acceptance. I'm sure that there other factors I may never fully appreciate but remains a joyous experience simply to witness it.

Watching the physical closeness of the boys in SE Asia is a great thing to see. Sometimes I would see two boys sitting together, with their arms around each other, and there is nothing sexual about it, just two boys being close to each other. It's not something you see where I live, so when I see it out there I can't resist taking a photo. And BurBoy loves the horseplay, to the point where we trash our hotel room/condo unit because it can become rough at certain points.

Day 8.9: New Year, Old Me, Same Same BurBoy

... anddy, GT forum member extraordinaire

*blushes* ;)

Good times, and BurBoy CLEARLY needed to take his shirt off, no need to be shy of fear any competition. I have to admit, I found it hard not to stare at him too much lol

Awesome pics of the party, ill be out of place if i were to attend. Looks like mostly fit young guys only.

yes that's true, but also there were many fat Chinese guys, too. It was mostly (but not only) those fat guys who hat that peculiar style of dancing, which involved a group of guys of anywhere between 4 to maybe 7 or 8 to hug each other from behind, forming a tight line of guys and having that sway heavily right and left with the rhythm of the music. That made it virtually impossible to have a good time and dance normally in their vicinity, so needed to find spaces with a distance to those interlocked swaying guys, which was a bit difficult at times. Anyway, there were tons of really hot guys, too, many many being Chinese. My very wild-and-rough guess for the Chinese ratio was anywhere from 50 to 70% of the entire crowd. The rest was other Asians, and probably no more than 5% farangs. That gave a glimpse of what it feels like to be a racial minority. What made matters worse, ind of, was that the vast majority of guys seemed to be "sticky rice". Bummer lol. Though later into the night I bumped into a cute and rather drunk Hong Kong guy who wasn't and we ended u making out for quite some time ;)

That group sway/hug line dance has been a feature of circuit parties since the start.  It makes perfect sense to the people doing it, and might, just possibly, be induced - or enhanced - by taking ecstasy (or similar).

I don't think that fit and not so fit older guys are out of place in a party like that.  We need to give the example to the young guys and show them that the world is not exclusively for the young but the older are ahead of the younger, who cannot be sure that they will be there when old.  However, even if we belong we don't need to be in a party like that if we find them a little boring like soft porn, and we prefer to spend a much more exciting time for less money, booze, noise and smoke in some popular nude event in a gay sauna.

I have not been posting in this thread over the last few weeks, even though I have been reading it every day, as I was waiting till the end to congratulate you, but I couldn't resist after reading that posting.

This has been a true classic thread, it has really put a longing on me to visit Burma now, even though I was thinking of Vietnam as the side-trip to my next SE Asia adventure, and you cant say better for a trip report than it makes people say "I want to visit there too!"

Thanks forrestreid. Its a long ass thread, so interjecting once in a while is greatly appreciated   :). Like I said before, I've received a lot of PMs about people who got inspired to visit Burma because of my ramblings. There was a lot of mystery about the country that kept me from going. But reality is it is highly accessible to tourists and the size and vastness of the country lends itself to discover more again and again. My next trip to Burma will definitely going to the Northern States, as well as visiting the beaches, which are less developed than Thailand's, but worth visiting.

Hi Numazu.

What a great post! That was quite a sexy story with the tall guy. The set up like a porn story

And as well I was afraid that I would have forgotten about some of the gems on this tread, like the abs photo of ShanBoy (I had to revisit that post over a few days to make sure I had the exact contours of his body memorised...) or those photos of the balloon trip over Bagan.

couldnt say it better myself vessey....

applause to you numazu.... you rode like a champion!  Now i want too!!

(sorry im only catching up on the story.... im referring to btming for muscleboy)

Glad the smutty parts of the story are still working for you guys. Alas, these moments are few and far between this trip as opposed to last trip. I'm glad my hardship in bottoming was still sexy lol.

Half of me, the curious half, wants to see what Bur-Boy looks like,

But the other half of me does not.

Bur Boy is clearly what Numazu wants him to look like, but will he be what I want him to look like? I now have a mental image of him in my mind  as being near perfection (for me) as I join vicariously with Numazu on his travels.

Sometimes the unseen image is more powerful and more potent.

Good times, and BurBoy CLEARLY needed to take his shirt off, no need to be shy of fear any competition. I have to admit, I found it hard not to stare at him too much lol

Vessey, yes he is perfect for me, and exactly the way I want him to look like. But I can see why people have asked for his photo through PMs, because I have described him extensively and lovingly in my posts. Like you said, you can let BurBoy look like your dream guy when you imagine him in your head when you read the posts. Though he has at least caught anddy's fancy he met BurBoy. For the guys asking for a photo, the only way you can see him is in the flesh, this April, when I am back in Bangkok :).

That is Numazu's life experience which is kindly shared with us ... in my opinion we should be expecting him to finalize his report before making any critics .

It's of course ok that that is your opinion, but given that the thread already included sidebars on "feelings" and the narrative truth of these "feelings," they were already being discussed so I simply added an observation.  I don't think even the author would say only fawning admiration is appropriate.

People here regularly comment on whether paying this amount was right, or doing this was right, or whether this conduct was right or wrong.  I'm surprised that it's ok to talk about the price of a guide but not how to treat another person.

As to the "life is messy" argument - ok to say it, but of course that doesn't justify anything.  And justification, of course, isn't the point.  It's simply getting out front an important aspect of the story - how the local guys are and should be treated (we are outside the situation of a s/t off, after all).  If that's not a part of the story, then the local guys just become travel accessories, and I don't think anyone really thinks that is or should be the case here.

BurBoy is not a mere travel accessory, you're right. Many forget that this thread is also about his holiday, and was an equal partner in all activities we spent together. Since he is not writing these reports with me, I can only talk about my feelings. I cannot control how I come across when I write. Due to my one hour rule of only writing one post for an hour and I stop, I can only afford to write what happened, instead of shaping the narrative to make me look good. The economic disparity between us is vast, and yes can lead to a power disparity as well. But if you know me and how easy going I am and how powerful BurBoy's personality is, most of the time HE gets to decide what happens, and this had nothing to do with money or level of education or cultural differences. It was just about two boys having fun on holiday.

And absolutely, all feedback is welcome, and sometimes less than fawning admiration is the most useful. I do appreciate the positive feedback, and eager to contemplate on the not so positive ones to see the error of my ways, or a clarification is necessary.

I think you mean masseur rather than masseuse.  Otherwise you're posting in the wrong forum!

Haha yes that is correct. I wasn't really aware of the difference, and once again you have added to my vocabulary. Kudos!

Great report about fast paced vacations.

Can't wait what excuse you invented about that hickey but truth is,   whatever you say , nobody will believe it LOL

Fake tattoo to hide that hickey

I've had hickeys on my neck numerous times before. Maybe my neck is just too sensitive to bruising for some reason, or guys just love munching on it ;). Once I got a particularly nasty one the night before a big meeting while on work travel. I had to wake up early to stop by a drug store to get some concealer to cover up the red blotch.

You are such a tease man. Lol love it though. You got all of us hooked.

Glad someone is still reading :). There's still some days left to post.

thanks for that clarification, had no idea that it is a circuit party thing! And you're right, the people doing it surely enjoy it a lot, I could tell, too.
