So I've read up on many of the posts here and feel like I've got a lot of good information. I'm visiting BKK briefly in less than 2 weeks. Will just be there a Fri - Mon as I've got other business in other destinations. Of course, I was a bit disappointed by the coup and curfew, but sounds like it shouldn't affect me for the most part. Since I'm going alone, would you recommend hiring a tour guide for the day, or just wander about and figure things out on my own? I need to get a hotel for my stay. Good location (near Silom) would be ideal, but also want a nice hotel. Any recommendations? Are any hotels awkward about me bringing a boy to my hotel? Any that I…

Have read some positive reviews on revamping of Golden Cock in Bangkok. Seems they did some renovations and have some cute boys. Drinks are only 140 baht. Can't wait to check it out!!

Those who live here or visit frequently would all be aware that major renovation was undertaken to improve Beach Road. The end result has been a much improved promenade, a cleaner beach, and an additional car lane. The sea is still not safe for swimming, in my very humble opinion, though. And plans to vastly improve the much eroded beach seemingly is completed and pending approval and funding. Pattaya and Jomtien are very hot in the daytime, so I usually venture out of the house in the afternoon to get a bite to eat and then to relax on the beach somewhere in Jomtien. I think this might be a conspiracy. But, all of the diet cokes in Bangkok are disappearing. None have been available at the 7-11's or Family Marts for 2 weeks. Normally, they always have them. Today, the boys went to Siam Paragon and the grocery store on the bottom level. It too is sold out. Has the bottling company here stopped producing them?

Reading the Bangkok Post today and found it very interested that flashing 3 fingers to protest the coup may get you arrested. I have not seen this happening but I did watch the movies about that girl in the Hunger Games. Is that the same? Luckily, I am from NYC and we only use one finger consistently.

The boys were watching Thai TV and said that the curfew had been listed in Pattaya and a few other cities. It remains in place in Bangkok from 12-4AM.

Got a call from a boy that works in the Plaza last night and he asked me to come to Bangkok. He said the military had cracked down on the bars in Pattaya. He said he thinks things will get even worse. But, that just may be a reason for him to come for a visit. I was determined to get some long awaited dental work done on my current trip and thought maybe about 4 visits will see it all over, generally quite happy with the work except for one little mistake. The dentist reshaped one of my top teeth but after doing it realised that my partial denture no longer fits properly, that partial is thanks to a sporting injury many years ago. Some 4 hours of drilling and grinding / sanding etc (two visits of 2 hours each) and it still doesn't fit properly, okay forget it just make a new denture that will fit as I can't take any more drilling. I went to Soi Twilight tonight and ate at Dick's Cafe and then went to 3 bars. All the drinks are same prices as before. LOL No special prices. Dream Boys is 400 baht.
