Don’t you just love it when on the same day one newspaper says one thing and the other the complete opposite? That happened this morning with the print editions of the Bangkok Post and The Nation - on the front pages, to boot! The Post informed readers that True Visions subscribers will be able to watch the upcoming matches in the European Nations Cup Championships that start this evening. http://www.bangkokpo...uro-2012-footie The Nation, on the other hand, under the headline “True Visions denied access to live Euro matches” informed readers – http://www.nationmul...s-30183758.html The dispute could have led to huge embarrassment for True, f…

  4. I have stayed at this hotel well over 200 nights over the past 10 years and I never hesitate to stay there when I am in Thailand. The staff is simply incredible. From the time you walk onto their property you are treated like you are respected and appreciated. The staff goes out of its way to make customers welcome and to make sure they have a fabulous experience. I am a Platinum member with Marriott and the VIP staff always welcomes me and takes great care to be sure I have a good room and everything I need to have a successful stay. The swimming pool is the best that Pattaya has to offer and would give most hotels in Asia a run for their money. The pool bar has …

Until now, it has been relatively easy to open private accounts at Thai banks. That is scheduled to change from August 21. But http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/local/300314/amlo-wants-stricter-rules-to-open-bankaccounts

I find this both mildly amusing and the height of stupidity. The Bangkok Post today reports the arrest of two British men aged 25 and 34 for trying to steal cash from ATM machines in Pattaya after they had run out of money. A third suspect is on the run. It’s amusing because of the tactics they used. No use of fake or stolen bank cards. These Rambos hired rented pick-up trucks and a saloon car, purchased ropes and tried to steal the cash by yanking the machines from their foundations! They succeeded in getting them loose, but still could not access cash. Besides, by then the banks’ alarms were ringing and so each time they had to flee the scene. And it’s plain dum…

Does anyone recognise any of these places recommended in a recent article in Britain's Telegraph newspaper? The first one is a hotel and the other three are restaurants. Aloft Bangkok A newcomer to Bangkok, this is a hip, contemporary hotel that is located downtown in Sukhumvit, walking distance from bars, restaurants and shops, and a free tuk-tuk ride to the nearest Sky Train and subway stations (0066 2207 7000; starwoodhotels.com/alofthotels). ____________________________________________________ La Table de Tee Currently Bangkok’s hottest ticket, La Table de Tee is the brainchild of innovative young chef Tee Kachonklin, who creates a different Franco-Thai t…

  11. I went into the old Jim Jimmy James last night and it was a lot of fun for me. The new Thai owner who said they had owned it and opened for less than a week was there and spoke to us. He has a very nice command of the English language. The mamasan is the one that Jimm had many years ago. The place looks great and still as clean as ever. The TV's are gone but the rest looks nice. They had about 15 boys that I counted last night. Most were gay boys and a few ladyboys but there were also a few man boys. We had one man boy named Bird over for a drink and had a great conversation. He has been in town for 2 days but use to work at Euroboys. I had a really ni…

  12. I have wanted to snag a Samsung Note before I head back to USA. I looked when I was in Bangkok and thought the price was good but wanted to see if Pattaya was cheaper. It is not. It is actually about 2k baht more at the lowest price I could find at Tuk Com. This happens often and I do know that every time I buy something in Pattaya, I find it in Bangkok for less money. Do you find all products are similar or is this related mostly to tech items?

I occasionally use a couple of proxy sites to access internet sites that either my server or the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology deems unsuitable for my eyes. As has been discussed on various Boards, sawatdee-gay-thailand is not accessible to True subscribers in Bangkok, for example. However, lately I have noticed that Ministry bans have circumvented these 2 proxy sites. Trying to access one particular adult video recently through these proxies (and I stress 'adult' - it had nothing whatever to do with any other form of porn), up came the Ministry notice in Thai and English - Sorry for any inconvenience. The page you are trying to visit h…

  17. If you have been to Pattaya, a group has purchased the Day Night 1 and 2 hotels and they are renovating them. The Day Night 1 hotel is completely under construction. I have heard it may become a haven for Russian tourists or Chinese Tourists. After the first hotel is finished, they will start to work on the 2nd one and renovate it completely. With the Mosaik and the Flamingo (recently renovated) this leaves some great places that are fresh in the Day Night area which is a very convenient area for all to stay.

I love Bangkok Pattaya Hospital and I love their Dental Clinic. The boys and I went today and we all had a full cleaning and Xrays and the cost for all three was around 4k baht. Not only is the cost cheap (compared to USA) but the place is clean, efficient and easy to use. One of my boys has to have 2 Wisdom Teeth removed and the cost will be around 6-10k baht. I know that may be high compared to what you can get in local dental clinics but I love the fact you are in a hospital and if something goes wrong, you can have access to doctors and facilities that are great.

Some suggestions about Chiang Mai? Last visit, low season, I returned to Chiang Mai after an absents of 7 or 8 years having stayed in Bangkok or Pattaya. Still love Chiang Mai and want to go back in a month or so. My problem is I like to go to a go go and see the boys several times on stage or nearby and then choose. This last visit to Chang Mai I only found bars that just had the boys walk through once and you had to choose. One place the boys had numbers which you could not read. Another had the boys walk through once, no number or name and thus no method of contact. Another had the boys stand at the back of the bar while the customer’s seats faced the oppos…

Flying in to Bangkok later in the year on a budget airline, take note! It’s now all but certain you will be flying into Don Mueang, not Suvarnabhumi (BKK). After years of stating to all and sundry that Bangkok was adopting a one-airport strategy so that BKK could become the leading Asian airline hub, the government has finally admitted that it, its predecessors and the AOT got it all wrong. BKK is now so overcrowded, with passenger anger and complaints at such a pitch over Immigration queues that are worse than almost any other international airport, that BKK just can not cope. So the single airport policy has been trashed. Budget and charter airlines are being told t…

I had a very nice night in Boyztown in Pattaya, Thailand last night. After a nice dinner, we went to Funny Boys. As usual, Mama Rose was friendly and the place was great to sit and chat and watch some cute boys. Rose is known for running the best gogo bar in Pattaya and there really is no competition for comfort and cleanliness. If you like a boy that is slightly more effeminate, this place has to be heaven. They don't have a lot of ladyboys but they are filled with gay boys galore. It was really enjoyable to site and watch. We tried to go in Wild West afterwards but there was a group of at least 20 customers in there and all were smoking. I could smell the s…

It has been a long time since I ate at Le Cafe Royale in Boyztown. I did last night and I really enjoyed my dinner. I had the chicken Maryland and it really was very tasty and very filling. I use to go to cafe quite a bit but stopped going for some reason. A friend asked me to meet him there last night and I'm glad I did. The food was good. The service was quick and friendly and the prices were really reasonable. I really enjoyed my time there. For those of you that enjoy Boyztown in Pattaya, Le Cafe Royale has a great menu that tastes good at reasonable prices. Stop by and give them a try on your next trip.

  25. On 3rd Road, across from Sunee Plaza, there is a live music beer bar open air restaurant. I have heard that several boys from Nice Boys were working there so I trekked over to see some of them. The staff has lots of eye candy with boys and ladyboys. The place is loud so if you don't like music stay away. The live band if fun and enjoyable. The food was excellent. I was impressed. This is a great place to take a group of Thai boys when you want to just relax and have fun and sit down as opposed to a disco. I have been told that the place is jam packed after 12 midnight but it open till 4. It is a nice break from the gogo scene for sure and I'll be going b…
