I simply wanted to know how seriously the internet cafe owners were taking the new law, and in examining ID details, logging them in and out, and storing lists of sites visited. If you like the blues, then The Blues Factory Pattaya is a must see. It is right off of Walking Street and in the middle of several girl bars. It is NOT a girl bar with bar girls. It is a live music show that starts around 9:30 at night and goes until around 4AM or so. The blues are at 9:30 and I think a rock band comes on at 12:30. I didn't stay for the rock portion of the show. BUT The blues group was WONDERFUL. They played great live music. The lady singer is excellent and talented. You cannot have a bad time here unless you only joy in life is seeing a gogo boy on stage. There are guys on stage here but they are musicians and not offable. Althoug…

Some friends and I have been looking for a good Chinese restaurant in Pattaya. We are well aware of the Rice Bowl in the Marriott and the Chinese restaurant in the Montien Hotel, but we're looking for something a little more "mom-and-pop," at more "mom-and-pop" prices. So far we haven't had any luck finding anything. A couple nights ago we even ate dinner with a Chinese gentleman from Hong Kong who comes to Pattaya for months at a time. Even he can't find anything in Pattaya. Have any of you found a halfway decent Chinese restaurant?

Samak, who was ousted by Thailand's Supreme Court just two days ago has been re-nominated for Prime Minister by his PPP party and he has accepted the nomination. He disappeared from public view immediately after the court verdict, but re-emerged today. So far, he is refusing to talk with reporters. As of this post, there has been no reaction from the opposing party, the PAD.

Yesterday, a friend and I went to Bangkok to see the Mama Mia production as we had waited for it to come to Pattaya but still has not come to the little place by the sea. The movie was great and the performances were excellent IMHO. Having seen the Broadway musical at least 10 times and being a big fan of ABBA, I had to see the movie on big screen before I saw it on the DVD. When I first started hearing about this, I was excited. I thought perhaps some airline was going to take the gogo bars to a new mainstream level but, no, that is not the case. It is only a matter of time when all flights will start using WiFi to access the net on your flight over to Thailand.
