Hi Fellow travellers After I did a little research, I created this master list. It contains about 20+ spas in Yangon and Mandalay. The link provided shows their offers. If anyone would like to contribute to this Google spreadsheet. Please DM me; I can share this file directly to you so that you can add your comments and make further contributions. Personally, I have never been to Myanmar because of the conflict. Now, it seems safer, and tourism has begun to boom. From Thai News Service Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin on Wednesday signed an order to transfer national police chief Pol. Gen. Torsak Sukvimol and his deputy Pol.Gen. Surachate Hakparn to inactive posts attached to the Prime Minister’s Office. The prime minister appointed deputy national police chief Pol. Gen Kitrat Phanphet to serve as the acting national police chief. The order came after Pol Gen Torsak and Pol Gen Surachate met the prime minister at Government House this morning. The prime minister said that the transfer order is temporary, effective for 60 days and not punitive. After the probes are finished and they are cleared of all allegations, they can return to their posts at the Royal Thai Police headquarters gracefully. After a meeting with the prime minister, Pol.Gen. Torsak and Pol.Gen. Surachate jointly held a press briefing to clarify speculation over internal conflicts within the National Police Office. Pol. Gen. Torsak expressed concern that his role as the police chief may have led to misunderstandings regarding online gambling cases involving Pol. Gen. Surachate and other police officers. He mentioned contacting Pol. Gen. Surachet by phone to arrange the morning meeting with the Prime Minister. Furthermore, he proposed all online gambling-related cases be handed over to the National Anti-Corruption Commission for fair judgment and to prevent misperception about conflicts. Pol. Gen. Torsak emphasized that his remaining term in office is 194 days, and he intends to fulfill his duties to the best of his abilities every day. He reiterated that Pol. Gen. Surachate can still be a candidate for a new police chief to be appointed by the end of this year.

From Pattaya News At 3:50 PM, on March 16th, 2024, Chalong police officers captured two New Zealand nationals who allegedly refused to pull over for a traffic offense, evaded police arrest, and were later accused of assaulting an officer who pursued them in Mueang, Phuket. According to the police report, Chalong patrol police were performing their regular duty on Chaofa East Road, in front of the Chalong police station. Two foreigners on motorbikes did not follow the traffic laws, not riding close to the left side of the road and riding at high speed in a community area, according to Chalong police. The police on duty asked for cooperation from them to stop their motorbikes. However, the two violators then allegedly attempted to flee from the police. After the police pursuit, the two foreigners were infuriated and allegedly attacked the police while having the incident recorded by the police. The situation escalated as the foreigners allegedly attempted to snatch the officers’ firearm causing the gun to fire once, nobody was injured, according to the police. The police were able to forcibly apprehend them shortly after and escorted them to Chalong police station for further legal processing. The two suspects were publicly identified as Mr. Hamish Day, a 36-year-old New Zealand national, and Mr. Oscar Mattson Day, a 38-year-old New Zealand national. They were facing harsh legal charges for conspiring to physically assault police officers and other related charges. As of press time both men remain in police custody and have not released any statements to explain the incident.

There are two possible dynamics at work here. The first is the possibility that Phuket is suffering from foreigner fatigue. Large numbers, with the usual percentage behaving disrespectfully (note that I am not saying they are any more boorish than usual or any more rowdy than Thais themselves can be) tend to induce a certain heightened sensitivity among locals. If there are unusually large numbers of Russians staying longer than usual, the fatigue may be particularly directed at them. The second, and more likely, dynamic would be one where one news story "begets" another, similar one. For example, a kicking story by itself may not be newsworthy and in other times an editor may shunt it aside, but when it follows in quick succession another story of foreigner being boorish to Thais, then it becomes more newsworthy.

UPDATE from Pattaya News / TPN: General Surachet has informed the press that he has instructed Major General Songprod Sirisukkha, the Immigration Region 6 Commander, to cancel the visas of the two New Zealand men in question and prohibit their entry into Thailand in the future. The Chalong Police Chief, Colonel Eakkarat Plaiduang, revealed that these two individuals are currently being taken to the Phuket Provincial Court today (March 18th). The two suspects are facing charges related to robbery, assaulting or resisting an officer on duty, and driving without a valid license. Despite allegedly attempting to bribe the police to avoid further charges, their efforts were unsuccessful. Additionally, the New Zealand embassy has been notified of the situation. TPN media notes that even if the two suspect’s visas are cancelled and they are blacklisted, they would still face the court process and their legal charges under a so-called suspect visa, which only allows them to conduct court hearings and legal matters. Thai police are reportedly recommending to the court that the suspects are not granted bail, as based on their high-profile incident they would be a potential flight risk. Flew here from Surabaya on Lion Air. Many people in Jakarta told me not to fly them, horrible record. Check-in was efficient, line moved fast, flight left on time, was only 40 minutes and arrived 5 mins late. Since it was Chinese New Year weekend coming up, Bali airport was super busy and my luggage was the last one out....yeah, I was getting nervous. So much better arriving Bali domestically than International. Was waiting for Grab car when an independent driver convinced me to go with him for the same price, Grab was moving really slow in traffic, but as usual, nothing is at it seems. The indie taxi was in a garage and it took us longer to get out of the garage than Grab would've taken..... Staying in Seminyak at the Primera hotel, an old IBIS, small rooms but super convenient to the bars and beach, $25 usd a night with minifridge and a balcony, cheaper rooms run 17 a night. Met a guy on Grindr while in Surabaya that was in Bali, since distance isn't shown in Indonesia, it's common to move into an area far away while scrolling. Just about me last 2 nights, with the kid from Jakarta and staying at the Conrad, he was great massage and sex but also good company, he knew more about what's going on in US politics than most Americans! The kid from Jakarta said he's never felt so important and loved the trip, the 3 days flew by and when I gave him money 2 million IDR, $130 usd he said was too much...he bought his own flights, lol We had fun together and I'll plan my next trip to include him in some of it. In Manila now and Grindr is blowing up...mix paid/free, let's see how it goes.

Day 10 continued - in Siem Reap At 12 noon I left hotel , took 9$ tuk-tuk to the airport and while flying high above Cambodia I realized that I got infamous senior moment in the hotel. When emptying safe box I put pile of 100 000 riels ( 25$ ) in 5000 notes on the night stand and forgot to pick it up from there. Can only imagine how happy cleaner was finding it and hope she was not stupid enough to report it to the reception but harvested that pile in full. As my mom used to say ‘ in nature nothing gets lost , only finds new owner”. In ½ hr we were landing already. Airport looks very pleasant but was empty, our plane was only one at time I was there. My driver greeted me immediately but I told him I need to do my survey. In improvement to early reports now there’s place one can buy snacks, there are desks for taxi and public bus to the city as well as kiosk with SIM cards. Unfortunately I couldn’t see departure area as there are guards who are admitting actually people who are departing only. This tells us whole thing is Chinese built , run and milked. There are no such restriction in Phnom Penh. Quite possible in generation people will be marveling of how far sighted builders if this airport were but for now it’s just waste od space and money as old airport was running well and was very close to the city. I’m not buying BS that it needed to be closed because vibrations were hurting ancient temples. In my 5 visits there I never heard any plane landing or taking off. Anyways if we don’t have what we liked we must like what we have. It's about 1 hr. to the city and one can take car for 35$ or van for 40$ or public bus for 8$. Apparently there’s also postal bus for the same 8$ but I did not find any information not stop for it there so it needs to be confirmed. Half way is very modern highway which is joining old National Road number 6. One hour and 35$ later I was in hotel. Big room with balcony , separate shower / bathtub area and toilet itself. Breakfast included and even small pool at disposal, all for 40$ , life is beautiful. Knowing S is coming I was waiting for him , he updated me where he is and finally knock into door and happy squeak from him. It look he was really happy for such vacations. Today we took it easy , went to Old Market area to eat something and returned to the room as two happy people have no better place to spend rest of day and night like bed , specially knowing driver will be 8 am on the dot. I know him and was sure so instructed S to behave but forgot to instruct myself so we had some steam in the room before we fell asleep..

Yes, the Doubletree chain is indeed different abroad than in the old US. Buffet breakfasts in Indonesia are generally huge spreads in larger hotels. Same with Malaysia. You're traveling in Indonesia during the Imlek celebration (Chinese lunar new year), so you'll see the red decorations everywhere. Probably a little less of it in Bali but still very festive there too in the urban areas. In Indonesia, many Chinese guys are cut too. While they're not Muslim (most are Christian or Buddhist), they often like to go with the flow in the genitalia department. The Balinese are rarely cut, however, except for the very few Muslims in the east of the island and a bit elsewhere. But in Bali, as you know, most of the massage providers are from elsewhere and tend to be Muslim.
