  1. View Talay 2 is located opposite the entrance to the Jomtien Complex (Supertown).

There are a number of agents located on the ground floors of the two buildings - A and B.

One of the agents in 2B manages the following rental website, which has a wide range of available properties in View Talay 2 and also some of the other nearby condominiums.

From my experience of View Talay 2B, it is an excellent, gay-friendly, well managed condominium with a very large outdoor pool. It is a popular choice with many customers of the Jomtien Complex.

At 700 bahts for a full extra service, you are certainly considered in all Pattaya as Cheap Cheap Charlie... 😁😁

Ok Marc, I guess I won't be going to Pattaya for a massage any time soon, I'll stick to Jomtien!

I don't know what you mean by a "full extra service", I was referring to a massage with a happy ending.

    A few thoughts or anecdotes...

On my last visit to Soda massage in January, as I was waiting with my masseur for change from the cashier after the massage, I asked him about the whiteboard on the wall near the till. It showed each boys name, in Thai, with a tick for each massage that day, so that the cashier could give them their share of the 300 baht massage fee at the end of the day. It was late in the day and, with a smile, he pointed out his name, explaining that the second tick was for me, his second customer. I took the smile to mean he was happy to have had a second customer (Sorry 12is12, I believe the smiles). The whiteboard had more than a dozen names, One was marked as "off", most had two ticks and a couple had three. I mention this because it may be one explanation for the high tips sought by the masseurs in Pattaya. Perhaps they don't have many customers, and they are determined to milk as big a tip as possible from the occasional one who succumbs?

Last summer I spent a long holiday in Jomtien. I decided that a daily, post-exercise, massage in my apartment would be a nice addition to my routine. I spoke to some of the masseurs I had come to know, asking if they knew someone who would be willing to provide the service for 500 baht. To my surprise, the three I asked from Soda massage all offered their services directly. These were traditional massages, with the masseur naked, sometimes with a happy ending. Clearly, if they were not happy with the tip they would have turned down the request. Two of these were slim twink types and the other an older guy who had been in the business for ten years.

One day I asked the older masseur what was the reality concerning tips. He felt comfortable enough to give me a very honest answer. He said that a normal tip was 300 baht and he was very happy if he got 500 baht, as that was a good tip. He also said that on a number of occasions, a customer had refused to pay him any tip, complaining that the massage was no good. He made it clear that he knew that this was just a ruse to avoid paying the tip. This had happened on a number of occasions with older retired farang, he said. I guess those customers really were cheap charlies!

I love Soda massage. They have all sorts of guys, some a bit butch and some very feminine, some 30 something and some 19 or 20 year old.
I tried Alex and later on Nick who were both top for me and did a great job. Very sensual a lot of kissing and very much seeming to be into me. Beautiful faces.

I agree Tartegogo, and Nick was also a favourite of mine on my last trip. However, he is the opposite to what Young11 is looking for as he is a slim twink who gives a sensual, as opposed to a strong Thai, massage.

What surprised me when reading this thread is the relatively high tips being sought and, in some cases, received by the massage boys in Pattaya.

I normally tip 700 baht in the Jomtien Complex, increasing to 1,000 baht when the service exceeds expectations. As far as I could tell, the boys seemed very happy with this level of tipping. Am I missing something? Maybe I am a Cheap Charlie without realising it 🤔

  4. I think there are not enough photos included with reports here - it's a visually stimulating environment we write about after all.

I would not myself publish the name or face of someone I met in Thailand. Better to use a pseudonym, an initial maybe, and a photo that does not show the face.

This is an anonymous public forum so its inevitable that subscribers will both react and over react to posts. It can be daunting when people react with anonymous hostility but that's the game we're in here.

But to the OP I would say thank you for your report, I see you had permission from the guy to publish his photo so fair enough. I would suggest in future you angle your camera downwards or, better still, take him from behind.

I've misplaced the name, but  walking out of The Poseidon, turn left to the main road, then turn right and next to the open air restaurant and the massage parlor, there is a tailor shop.  Usually there are some interesting shirts on a display rack outside.  Over the years, I've had shirts made, bought some of the display shirts, and had a very nice sport jacket made up.  I'm very happy with my purchases and have had a compliment or two.  Know what you want, bargain, the owner will plead poverty, once a price is agreed, all that goes away.  Be VERY specific about when you want the clothes to be ready.  Sorry, I can't recall the name but I can recommend the shop.

I'm in the process of having some shirts and a jacket made by this tailor in Jomtien. I had shirts made on a previous visit and I was very happy with the quality and the fit.

I am getting some heavy cotton shirts for 850 bath and some light ones for 750 baht, all long-sleeved. The jacket will cost 2,800 baht.

He has a reputation for being a bit more expensive than some others in Pattaya, however the price is just a fraction of what it would be at home and he's very conveniently located if you are staying in Jomtien.

I agree with ggobkk that it is hard to bargain with the owner, Mr Singh?, due to his exceptionally straitened circumstances, the expense of running a business, pressure from suppliers etc. However you should still be able to get at least 10% off.

The shop is called Siam Next Fashion. It is right beside the entrance to the Jomtien Complex at 413/30-31 Tappraya Rd.

  6. This has been a very interesting topic to follow.

But getting back to the OP - if people are going bareback on the basis of being "safe" because they're on PrEP, then what's to stop someone just saying they're on Prep in order to persuade their sex partner that it's safe to have unprotected sex with them?

This puts the partner in a dilemma - is it safe or not?

This use of PrEP could lead to more unprotected sex and consequently more infection by HIV if it becomes the norm for guys to agree to go bareback just because someone says they're on PrEP, when in reality they may not be.

There is a lot of unprotected sex going on in Thailand. A guy I was with in August told me the four previous times he had sex were with other Thais and they all insisted on going bareback. Food for thought.

  7. Thanks for that CurtisD.

I have a question about your use of cumulative risk to determine the probability of transmission.

If I flip a coin the chance of it being heads is 50%.

If I flip 100 coins and then flip another the chance of it being heads is still 50%. The results of the previous coin tosses do not affect the probability of the outcome of a new coin toss.

Therefore if the risk of PrEP failing in one encounter is 8%, as you say, then why would it be any greater for subsequent encounters?

  8. I think you mean Nice Boys and not Dream Boys. First, Dream Boys is in Boyztown, and second, description of activities and some boys you mention (I remember #8 and #38) fit Nice Boys.

You are right of course Christian, it was Nice Boys on Soi VC and not Dream Boys.

I went back to edit the post but couldn't figure out how to do it.

    My mistake.

  9.  Nice boys very busy , at some point almost full, Boys are dancing and flashing their wares with lots of energy, some impressive erections,

Great to hear that Nice Boys is going strong. My favourite go-go bar in Pattaya. Always a great atmosphere and plenty of fun to be had.

I'm very much looking forward to paying a visit when I arrive next week for the summer.

  10. Hi Abang,

Belated but sincere best wishes on your 55th birthday and likewise for your upcoming 56th! You look great and you are setting a very high standard for the rest of us in the same age bracket.

I have just read this topic for the first time and I really enjoyed the positive attitude to aging in many of the posts. They reflect the "you're as young as the ass you're feeling" outlook of many of the contributors here.

I also will turn 55 in August and now I am actually looking forward to it! I may even book another trip to Thailand just to celebrate.

Finally, in the spirit of Abang's photo logs, here are a couple of pics of a somewhat paler 54 year old and travelling companion taken at Chicken Head Island in Krabi just a month ago.
